Help With Changing Screen Resolution

Yes, I know. It sounds simple but I'm talking about before you load the game.

I was dumb enough to pick a resolution not supported by my monitor and restart the game and now I don't know how to fix it. I'd like to change it back to 1280 x 1024. Is there a way to do that without the game having to be loaded first?

Use TweakCoH. It's either that or manually edit the registry.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Another way is to check the "Safe Mode" box on the 2nd page of the updater which will start the game in 800x600 with all the options on minimum.

I'm coming in third place with yet another solution...

Make a new shortcut, designating the resolution. For example:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -screen 1280 1024

I hesitate to use the safe mode option to change resolution only because any time I changed any options while in safe mode, the rest of the safe mode options saved as well, and I had to go through and change everything else again. This may not happen for everybody, every time.. but happening to me once was enough for me to take extra precautions. lol

Personally, I would have simply changed the registry information myself, but TweakCoH is a good alternative for those who aren't familiar/comfortable changing their registry manually like Texas_Justice suggested.

On a side note.. to prevent any personalized options from ever getting screwed up or having to be reset, I saved a *.reg file that I can use to "reinstall" my preferences quickly at any time.

Now I've gone on long enough.. Glad the OP got it fixed... now don't do that again! lol j.k
