If you are referring to Stone Armor, I go for the sets that an augment recharge as well as mobility so that my Stone Armor Brutes and Stone Tank are not symbiotically joined to a kin.
My build goes for two goals which are to negate the penalties and raise survival by hitting softcap on defense. It does both and it uses a wide variety of sets. Because of the hideously wide variety, it's actually more difficult to get the pieces not because of expense but because of rarity.
Blue: ~Knockback Squad on Guardian~
Red: ~Undoing of Virtue on [3 guesses]~
Recharge, recharge, recharge - then movement speed, and in my case, regen and +HP.

It took me a while to wrap my "Air-Head" around IO's+Set Bonuses, but now i finally have a basic understanding.
Just Curious, What sets does everyone use for their Stone Brutes? Like LoTG, What are the most common used sets?
Im not really talking about the crazy rare ones that are far from my reach, just wondering if everyone is using the same ones as me, or if there are ones out there that im totally over looking, which im sure will be the case
