CoX and DragonCon
The Atlanta folks have been asking this very same question for the past 5 years.
The reason they won't come is that Dragon*Con is on Labor Day weekend. They get a three day weekend and they are not about to give it up.
I had hopes this year that they would have HeroCon on the East coast, but again it's a matter of logistics. They do the West Coast events because they are "Next Door". To do anything East Coast they have to fly. Flying is money and money has to be justified.
So to sum it up, us East coasters might as well just shut up about it and be happy. The likelihood of getting NCSoft to show up on the East Coast for anything is nil.
Tech Support Rule #1 - They will lie to you. Usually intentionally.
Or having them in the Midwest, either.
I know that it would be great to have them at either Origins or GenCon, both of which have attendance in the 25,000+ range, drawing folks from around the world.
It appears that their marketing/travel budgeting folks don't recognize anything east of the California state line, even thouch airfare and hotel combined would have been comparable between sending folks to San Diego vs. Atlanta vs. Indianapolis (site of GenCon).
So if you are truly a City fan, it's your dime to head out to the West Coast if you want to be part of a City & Paragon Studios event supported by anything more than swag sent out via mail (and leftover swag from a West Coast event at that).

I have accepted they will not be there AGAIN this year with the same mumbles of discontent as previous years.

Can someone tell me if PARAGON or NCSoft will ever make an appearance at DragonCon in Atlanta Ga? There is a MASSIVE (and I DO mean MASSIVE) City of Heroes/MMORPG/Comic fan and player base every year at this thing. And DragonCon is NOT some small, unheard of, local, niche convention.
An awful lot of us last year were really disappointed in their absence while so many other game companies were there and represented. Even CHAMPIONS online had devs there. Well, there WAS a TINY panel of about maybe 5 people (Fans) there holding a fairly uninformative CoX Q&A (since they couldn't really speak for the devs, I understand that) that gave away some swag (T.Rasa sets and Lineage trials). Otherwise it was just a room full of rabid info starved gamers left wondering why the CoH buffet was unmanned and empty.
C'mon devs, we're just as valid of a venue! I DO understand ComicCon is friggin COMICON and PAX is PAX! If I could, I'd have made my pilgrimage to both! However, both are FAR beyond my current means and DragonCon is nothing to sneeze at either. It ranks up in the top 5 of its kind in the US!
Don't believe the hype?

Off the soapbox now. Just been really wondering and hadda ask.
