Weird issue with Screenshot directory
Are you sure that they are not in your profile instead of the game folder?
Yes they originated there, but Vista has a 'nasty' habit of defaulting to the current profile MyDocuments folder or subfolder.
Yup, looked all through the /users, profiles, etc, both manually & searching.

I would definitely doublecheck the "save as.." folder designated in that program. The files have to be somewhere.
What if you did a search for the files by name on the Computer as a whole? That should find the directory they are in.

For sure. Irfanview remembers your last directory so if, say, you were looking in Program Files instead of Program Files (x86) then it would do something just like what you describe.
Vista's indexing is pretty amazing, assuming you haven't turned it off. Just search on your jpg and it should pop right up.
Nope, paths are identical (at least they say the are). Irfanview insists that c:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\Screenshots\Uploads\ (created when I was saving from iview) exists; every other program, including Windows Explorer says there are no subdirs of \screenshots. I have a suspicion it's some voodoo to do with 32 bit programs in a 64 bit os, and I shouldn't be mucking about making a new subdir anywhere inside Program Fiels - but the new files iview insists are there (and can open, even after a reboot) have to be somewhere else. . .but Windows doesn't see 'em.

Look in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualSto re\ProgramFiles (x86)\...
Arcane technical details about it here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/m...07.06.uac.aspx
IrFanView is probably considered a Legacy App and is therefore not allowed to write to the "real" C:\Program Files folder but is instead redirected invisibly to the Virtual Store.

Oh! Of course, it's in the Program Files directory!! Yeah, Wings has it right.
This one has me scratching my head. Any help or ideas what's going on?
I took some screenshots. I browsed over to them in Windows Explorer, double clicked on one and it opened in my preferred lightweight image viewer, Irfanview. I looked through a few pics and decided on one I wanted to upload. Being lazy I hit Save As, created a new subdirectory of Screenshots titled 'upload', and named the pic 'rchsmantf.jpg' Good so far?
I then went over to Photobucket and tried to upload the picture. My new directory wasn't there.
Long story short - Irfanview can create new files and subdirectories in c:\Program Files (x86)\City...\screenshots. I can look at them, delete them, whatever - but if I use Windows Explorer or any other program, those new directories are effectively invisible (yes I have 'show hidden directories' on). I can't get to them even by manually typing the address. If I delete files using Irfanview they are gone for other programs as well.
Also, if I go into Dos (run as administrator) and cd to that directory, the directories aren't there either.
FWIW, it's Vista 64 Home Premium. .
