Don't use the 186.xx drivers. Go back to the 185.85 drivers.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

You can force it to Windowed mode using the TweakCoH program, but I'm not sure how well it works on Windows 7.
Or, n the registry, go to the HKey_Current_User\Software\Cryptic\ entry, select your game installation (mine are not default so not sure how yours show up), look for the fullscreen entry and set it to 0 to run in Windowed mode. If the fullscreen entry is not there, create a new String Value named fullscreen and set the value to 0.

Change your shortcut to include the windowed mode command.
For example:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -fullscreen 0
Also, like Texas mentioned, these most recent NVidia drivers are not friendly with CoH on Vista/7. Make sure you installed 185.85 instead of 186.18
well thanks for the nvidia driver tip that worked i can see the screen - but now I cannot seem to connect. I get the log in screen can pick a toon but it never seems to load in . The load in screen sits there for a few mins then kicks me back out to the log in screen and if I try to log in it tells me that account is already logged in - tried it on freedom and on triupmh so I don't think it is server lag??
Hi - I just had to reinstall by win7 since I was on beta to rc version. I was running sli 206 gtx's before I reinstalled and it worked no problem but now when I launch after a fresh install I nothing but black screen. I can hear the music, the clicky sounds for typing in user name etc...I can see when it launches it sets my resolution to low but I see no graphics just a black screen. Is there a way to force the executable to windowed mode or ??? help!
