Bocor, Billie or Angelo?

At lvl 5-9 which of these three are best to take? Is there any benefit to taking one contact over the other? I'm a tech-origin MM so perhaps salvage or something would drop more readily for me from some mobs and not others?

Just returned awhile back so relearning it all...

Billy Heck will send you on a mission that will give you a Temp Power to summon a Fire Imp pet up to 5 times (not combat useful, but a nick-nack to collect if you're into that). Angelo Vendetti will send you against the earliest Elite Boss I can think of on Villain side and has a badge mission.

Mr Bocor however, has the best story out of them all. He also has a badge mission and will send you on a mission that will get you a Temp Power to summon a Zombie up to 5 times (again not terribly combat useful but a nick-nack to collect. I really like Mr Bocor, as a contact and as a character; he's got a very solid persona.

I say Bocor.

If you want to do more than one though, you can always turn off XP in Options under Miscellaneous. Also, from lv25+ you can use Ouroboros to flashback earlier story arcs (including ones you never played).

Welcome Back .

(Oh and the specific Contacts won't really matter for drops. Just sell the stuff you get at the Market and don't worry about it until you're 27+ or so. Check out the Inventions Tutorial at the University in Cap au Diable from lv10+.)

I always do Billie Heck. I like his missions - Family and Hellions - and the fact that he gives you three EBs to fight.

Usually, I have plenty of time during that level 5-10 period for two of the three. I always take Bocor first, then Billie.

Especially at this level, Story Arc bonuses will really give you a huge exp boost when you complete them. Billie has two arcs, Bocor and Angelo one each (iirc).

Bocor also introduces you to "The Radio", a contact for level 10-15, which is kind of fun, so I take him first.

The temp powers Bocor and Billie give you are very limited, but can be quite handy, especially solo, if you save them for those tough fights where you could really use just that little bit extra. They aren't anything to rely on, but they can be useful.

I'm not big on story stuff, but I do enjoy Bocor's arc.

Fun temp power, neat badge, good storyline.

Thumbs up.

Thanks for the info!

Ok I want to go through the Bocor and Billie- - I just realized I've hit 10... I can take Bocor but what do I have to do to open up Billie? More Newspaper stuff until The Ear likes me more? Will he offer up Billie again? I've turned off XP at this poiint

Yes, if you don't outlevel your contacts, you can get them all via newspaper missions.

Hmmm I got Billie by doing more newspaper missions but he won't talk to me. I hit lvl 10 before I turnded off Xp... I probably out leveled him? Although I'm the same level as when I got Bocor, yet he opened for me.

Any ideas? I can't de-lvl through debt right? So probably just Flashback for me...

Ideas?

Do you perhaps have too many missions in your list? Or open story arcs you haven't completed? You can only have 3 missions in your list at once. I forget what the maxima are for the different sizes of story arcs (I usually do them one at a time) but you need to go back and finish any you have going from your first two contacts. You can look in your Clues tab to see if you have any on-going arcs and also the Contact will have an open book next to them in the Contact window.

I have one mission in my list - its the first step for Borcor (Sea Witch) and that's it. And my XP is off, but technically these are listed on Paragon Wiki as 5-9 contacts (I am lvl10) But here's what happened. I got my second bank mission but failed it. Went back to Micky the Ear and he let me choose a second contact... I chose Billie. Went to him and he greeted me but said "I got nothin' for you ya - bother someone else. He's listed as an inactive contact.

I think I've outlevelled him even though I am exactly the same level as when Micky gave me Bocor as a contact. Odd. Oh well. Looks like I have to wait till 25...

Yup.

Did you perhaps Train up to 10 only after talking to Mr Bocor?

I dont recall. It doesn't matter - I just want to understand the mechanics so I know what to do next time hehe.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I'll remember you all when I rule the world one day...

Your Combat Level and your Character Level are two different things. Your Combat Level goes up as soon as you Ding. Your Character Level goes up when you Train.

So let me ask this - lets say I was in this situation, I dinged to 10 (combat) but didnt train... could I continue to earn XP and not 'outlevel' my contacts (that have a cap of level 9)?

I always hear that people 'turn off XP' to not outlevel their contacts... so which level do contacts run off of? Both or just one?

This game is more complex than first meets the eye for sure.

Just turn it off at x4 and x9 to be sure.

I've never tried it myself, but from things I've heard of other people doing I believe you can still talk to a contact at Character lv9/Combat lv10, but you will lose all access period at Combat lv11 even if you haven't trained.
