How's this Fire/Fire build?

Again, keep in mind that:

1) I don't PvP (but would find it humorous if this were compatible)
2) I don't play characters past 50 - at 50 I usually shelve them and start a new one
3) This build is not necessarily what I started with (this guy is 26 now) - this is more the respec @ 32 build to be played from 32 onward. (I get 4 vet respecs per character)

Highlights:

* Stamina *and* Consume (Consume up every 75-80 seconds)
* >27%< extra damage due to set bonuses!!
* Hasten
* A 50% Self Heal up every 15 seconds (20 w/out Hasten)
* Knockback and +Perception IOs
* Room for Miracle and Numina if even more End needed (shouldn't be)
* Tough for even more S/L Damage Resistance
* The AoE FSC up every 7/10 seconds
* The level 32 ST Nuke up every 5-7 seconds
* ST Hold @ 44, AoE Immob @ 49 for use with Burn.

Here is the build itself, thoughts?

By nuke, in the context of scrappers, I mean "uber primary attack"

1) Why? Must you use purple sets in all your build advice?

2) - and this one's for *everyone* - is this build as good as I think it is for Fire/Fire? If not, why and what would make it better? Is skipping Temp Prot and getting Tough a good choice? Was focusing on +Damage with the set bonuses worth it? Will one Steadfast be enough to deal with the AE boss missions that keep knocking me around?

You need two KB protection IOs for bosses and 3 for AVs. Temp protection is a good res slow/-rech power. As far as taking it over tough, no.

Most people wait till 47 to IO out a build for end game play and base their slotting on that. Its not all about purples. I have 13 50s and none of them have a single purple set. Douring the leveling period, most builds just have common IOs with a few sets gotten along the way. In the case of never playing your character again when you hit 50, making an IO build for it would be for novelty reasons over performance upgrade. Have fun with the TT and burn combo for those two levels you will have it for.

(TT and burn... Ha Ha Ha)

Mostly likely he doesn't IO his toon till lvl 47. I have seen some of his build and he as no purple sets. Some people like to play there toons at 50 and build for the toon to play at lvl 50. It is a lot harder to plan a build for lower lvls.

You only need 1 KB protection IO for 90% of the game. Only 1 boss I can think of you will need more then one and that is a Fake Nemesis and you will need more then 2 for him. His Staff Bolt has a 30% chance of a KB of 9 so 8 won't help you againt him. Now AV yes they will can knock you with only 1 KB IO, but he/she doesn't play his/her toons at 50 some I'm going to say he/she isn't going to be solo AV so it will not matter.

Edit: didn't see that he was taking AE bosses so I have no clue how much KB they have.

BrokenPrey is correct here. I love the journey to fifty, but for me the game begins at destination awesome (AKA: Level fifty.) Thus, my builds pay almost no attention for IOing as I level.

The purple IO set bonuses usually don't suit my style, so I never go for them.

Ditto. You know how people advise you to play for a few levels just to get the feel for the sets, and whether you want to keep playing the character? That's what I do, except that “a few levels” is 50 of them. I wing the build till 50 since I'm just getting a feel for it.

What's the problem? The game's easy, I was only impressed by a purple build once (a Warshade farming outpacing a well built fire/kin). Plus purples require a lot of money and/or farming.

As Werner pointed out several times, there's always an uber-recharge attack chain and a medium-recharge attack chain for scrappers, and the dps difference is usually minor.

I only went for purps on my permadom, not counting the cheapo sets on other toons (Sleeps, confuse). I love purple procs tho.
