So many great ideas will never see publication

think you are simply trying to figure out my adjenda, and it really pisses you off that i have been playing this game, and on these forums longer than most of you, and your knee-jerk response is to try and discount any validity of my criticism.
[/ QUOTE ]Yeah, we're all just jealous of you, that's obviously it. Your e-peen is soooo large!

Improvements to the game need to keep pace with player expectations.
[/ QUOTE ]This is inherently impossible to do for more than a moment. If you get close the player expectations in any way, shape or form, the expectations will grow, not only in magnitude, but in how quickly they increase. The improvements are constrained by reality, while expectations are constrained by imagination. And imagination always beats reality.

"City Of" has done some great work with some aspects of the game (crafting, AE, Game stability, AT diversity, etc.), and fallen short on others (level cap,SG base content, Cathedral of pain, debt in PVP zones to name a few)
[/ QUOTE ]In other words, CoX isn't perfect? Stop the presses, we gots ourselves a headliner!

I think it's funny that because my views of the game, don't mesh with yours, that i must be lying when i say i have played the game for 5 years. You want me to take a screen shot of my Veteran rewards? Am i as "in touch" with the current state of the game, as someone who has posted on here 1000+ times, and keeps abreast of every game development post as obviously you do? No. I play the game, and have been playing the game for years. Everyone has the right to express their views on the game, i've expressed mine, you don't agree with it? So what. I've played this game as long as you have, and think the game needs to develop more content for yours and mine dollars. I never said the game needed to be perfect, and in fact the answer "OMG you mean the game is not perfect?" has probably been used many times, by many devotees on these forums, who feel anger when anyone has the nerve to point out some of the games short comings. Like i said, So many great ideas and suggestions here will sadly, never see publication, maybe in the end, it is a matter of resources, or picking and choosing which small amount they can implement. City of is a good game, and i hope it long lived.

[/ QUOTE ]No, people question you because you say the devs should be doing X... except they're doing X, and they've been doing X!

[/ QUOTE ]Right, everyone has a right to expression their views on the game... even if they don't agree with yours. Remember, it goes both ways.

I've never once said the game is perfect.
I've asserted repeatedly, that "the game is getting the things you've asked for / has discussed the upcoming potential of getting those things / has already discounted those things as unfeasable".
You can snap as many shots as you like of your vetran rewards.
My friends who quit playing the game 4 years ago *still have their accounts open* and thus would be able to do exactly the same thing - but they haven't actually played, and neither, I believe, have you.
You believe that the game should be improving and changing: so do I.
The only significant difference here is that you seem to be unable to see *how they already ARE* doing that. And then you assert that it's being fannish to say "but they already have-" and express that we should be somehow angry that we aren't "getting more" for our money... But we ARE getting more, all the time. And you'd know that if you'd actually been here.
And also: your idea of "good idea" is not always in the game's best interest.
Your prior suggestions about "level cap" and "pvp debt" and the like? THOSE are the things I suspect you're REALLY trying to push here, and they WILL NOT CHANGE. Period - and you would also know that if you'd taken the time to read the dev digest or even do a simple search for prior discussions about it.
I don't have nerve pointing out that you aren't a regular player. It's painted across your whole posting demeanor and the content of your posts. You're trying to insult me by my post count and by presuming that I think the game is perfect. You're wrong on both sides - I have posted regularly, as in several times a day, for all these years. I've been active in the COMMUNITY that is City of Heroes. You clearly have not. So there, yes, I have a tremendous advantage over you. I have already SEEN your arguments in the form of whining about level caps and pvp changes and "why can't we have x and y because we demanded it!! nao!!" ... And it's all the same.
You haven't done anything but assert that you're "in the industry" and that things would be "easy" to implement. You've asserted that there should be more discussion about what should be put into the game: and missed the part where your OWN suggestions are already THERE.
So pretty much you've backed yourself into a corner, not understanding either how the game has progressed, nor how the forums have made a huge impact and continue to do so into the future of the game.
Of course we're arguing against you. because your argument makes no sense. You've asked for things *which are already in the game*. You've hinted at things *which have already been stated by developers as never - ever - gonna happen*. Get over those because you're not going to convince them.
Play the game. Get the updates. Buy the expansion. Oh my where was that new content? Oh yeah - in the free issues and the expansion pack! I just cannot understand how you don't see what you're asking is already there and is continuing full bore, into the next year of releases.

I started a thread a while back about "good ideas being lost in the shuffle of the forums".
I think the game is great as it is.
I think the game needs a lot of improvements.
I think the game has been better at times - I blame the current problem on abuse and exploiters.
I think the game has taken a great direction in incorporating player content into the game - I just wish everyone understood it was for "story" content and not "easy rewards fast".
I feel like I put a lot into the game. The game gives me a lot in return.
Right now it is different experience than what I has been during the time previous to the release of the MA. Part of that is due to creating MA content. Part of the reason is being aggravated by the exploiters and cheaters. Part of it is due to the out-of-sync bug finally getting fixed (hurrah!)
I'm hoping that the changes to the MA are sufficient to correct the game's direction.

As long as we're measuring the length of our members, I've been around as long as you have. Do you think it makes me envious that you've been around a few days more? Do you think that's reason enough to find you utterly ridiculous? Because you are. People are asking for things and getting them. People are making suggestions and seeing them implemented into the game. Just because what YOU wanted and what YOU suggested didn't make it in doesn't empower you to act as the sole man qualified to judge.
As well:

You don't need to post much, but maybe if you READ a little more you'd have seen all the debate that has gone into these subjects, both coming from players and coming from the developers. To claim all players want a level cap, for instance, is laughable. Whether you did or did not claim that in actual phrasing is irrelevant, you claim they "have fallen short" on delivering a level cap raise, which assumes it's a good idea, which assumes people feel it's a good idea. That couldn't be farther from the truth. At best the players are divided 50/50 on the subject. At worst, many, many of us came here to get AWAY from incessant level cap raises that invalidate lower level content. Raided Onyxa recently?
And that's just one easy example. Don't flatter yourself by leading yourself to believe that what you want is somehow objectively good for the game and that if the developers don't do that, they have objectively let "the players" down. If you'd read the boards, you'd have caught Castle's comment on why a level cap increase will NOT happen, and even if it did, powers and slots are NOT things new levels would give.
Next time you try to pass judgement, try to have a solid argument, backed up ACTUAL player popularity and better evidence than "I work in the industry, so there!" What you're doing right now isn't convincing. It's absurd.
