Issue 15 change... NO REWARDS
Did you get it off of an NPC or a player?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I wonder if they perma banned people farming ios in arena before the KNOWN EXPLOIT was fixed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you saying that removing ALL rewards from PvP is a "fix" to PvP farming?
[/ QUOTE ]
yup - the bug part is it caused no drops to happen..
This is just rumor craft with no verifiable base to it. It's all a nemesis plot according to B. Read the diatribe posted in whatever thread castle replied in.
Farming for pvp io's is not a exploit. The reward/time ratio is to much for it to be a exploit. Sometimes it takes 2 30 min matches just to get 1. That's a hour for 1 recipe or roughly 80 kills.
If it wasn't for farmers farming these there would be NONE on the market. The ones that would be on the market would be so overpriced that noone would afford them, then pvp io's would just be useless.
Depends on how you do it - you can get as much as 3 drops per toon in 30 mins, but the fix was to limit pvp io drops in arena.

the fact that people were sucessfully farming them enough to make statistics like this and yet people who actually pvp'd werent getting them should have been a red flag imo.
i hope this bug forces castle or whoever is working on this to put in some supression timer and up the drop rate to make it less farmable and more likely to end up in the hands of actual pvpers.

The "fix" you're referring to isn't in the patch notes. Are you best friends with a dev and they happened to leak that information to you?
Either quote a source, or stop with your speculation. Farming PvP recipes is bad, but that's no reason to start rumors in the hopes that some dev will listen to you and think "Wow, that's a good idea. We should do that!"

[/ QUOTE ]
Isn't there already a timer? Something like ten minutes after a drop is received? Maybe increase that timer...
As for drops ending up in the hands of actual PvPers, the farmers still SELL the drops they get. And influence/infamy is a joke in this game.
I'm not a fan of farming, by the way, but I think any reduction in PvP drops hurts honest players more than farmers.

I am a actual pvper and this isnt a bug. The fact that the drop rates are so low in actual pvp and 100-200mil prices caused me to farm them. why pay that much money.
I didnt hurt anyone by doing this. And i think its rediculous that people feel that way, just because they dont do it and get mad at there drop rates. I do it to slot in my toons and most of the time the stuff i dont use i put on the market at a lower price then what it actually sells for to help fellow pvp'rs and try and make the prices go down.
the reward/time ratio is right and there is a timer for drops. I think since i14 hit ive gotten 3 or 4 drops in zones and arena fights. Thats not enough. The drop rate should be increased not decreased. Thats the only way you are gonna stop pvp farming.
But untill then pay your rediculous prices for yours while i farm mine. Its no different then purp farming so whats the big deal.

Yes of course it was just a mistake, that made it through extensive beta testing - that disabled drops in pvp only...

Was there an undocumented change PVP IO drop rates, or the whole drop system for them entirely changed ?
If so this should have been noted here, even if flagged as an exploit fix internally and wasn't in the test notes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Bug. We're working on it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Curious why there was no Big post expressing your outrage at abusing the pvp io drop system and people being banned and ios being deleted... I guess the pve care bears didn't complain at taht last get together huh?

Posted here for the lulz.

Present project: Solo Everything Project
Remaining: Lusca, Sewers, Eden, Kahn, States, HeroSpec2&3, Apex, Tin Mage, Moritmer Kal, Tesseract, Recluse, 'Cuda, Quarry, Stropharia, Thorn, Arachnos Flier, Deathsurge, Caleb, Seed of Hamidon (Villrespec2&3, Hami, CoP, Incarnates)
wut is lul worthy about that? Just wondering where the Posi like post was for the pvp io farming...

it is though. purple farming rewards an activity that the player was doing already anyway.
pvp rewards are so rare that they change the players who they were aimed at rewarding in the first place. you prove this point yourself by your own admission.
imo they just have to make it hard enough to make it look less attractive for farming. this is as good a chance as there will ever be to do this, if it just goes back to the i14 way it wont ever change.

What else has made it through extensive beta testing... let me think... what could possibly have been beta-tested for a long period of time, and had certain aspects of it reported both publicly and privately, and STILL managed to get into the live release? Just off the top of my head... I think I'd have to go with exploit-oriented missions in Mission Architect.
So, again, quote something official or it's all just wild speculation and trolling.

Nothing will make farming less attractive. No one ENJOYS doing it. (Except maybe real-money traders) If you make it MORE difficult, then farmers will be the only ones reaping rewards.
Im sorry but i just dont feel this way. Maybe on freedom you can get drops better with more active zones and arena, but on other servers the populace is real low right now, that trying to accumulate these in zones and arena would take a really long time.
So pvp farming doesnt reward an activity that i do already cause i dont pvp??? Maybe you should check your facts and realize im one of the biggest pvp'rs on justice. Im always in zones and have toons parked in zones. Always ready to fight someone at any notice of time.
The people i see on justice farming pvp io's are PvPers and do it for this reason alone. You cant aquire them like people do on freedom because of the low pvp population.
Nah it started with AE - they are all about risk/reward. The reason they freaked out after the anniversary weekend...the pve folks complained with the idea that it gave new players the wrong idea and big rewards with little to no risk, so they took action against those they felt abused it. Same goes for another exploit I can't talk about. Purples drop rarely, and you have to do actual pve content to get them. The pvp io drop rate was hardly as rare as purples and if you knew how to do it you could get quiet a few recepies in a short amount of time with little more effort than it took to hit a few macro keys. And some of them still go for more than purple sets on the market. So yeah you think they want to put a limit on low risk high reward behavior?

GB population had nothing to do with it - you can farm with two accounts.
Player kill, was the same lowly couple hundred inf.

so you serioulsy believe all the changes they make are in the patch notes? lol.....
Make PVP IO drops only drop in rated matches. With a greater percentage to drop against foes of closer rating or even just for winning. And then adjust that percentage for chance to drop against people who's rating's are extremely far apart. Then make rated matches blind registration/entrance, so you dont know what you are fighting and so that you can not farm yourself because the system places you in the match and does not let you pick your opponent. ......PROBLEM SOLVED.

merits did. im not asking for that much though, just some small tweak while the issue is hot.

Absolutely not, and never did I suggest that was my belief.
When a change this broad-sweeping is brought down as a punishment, I would expect, how did you put it, a "Positron-like post" that slapped all the abusers into submission. As you've pointed out, there's no such post. In fact, Castle has publicly stated it's a bug and that they're working to correct it. This tells me that your speculation is unfounded.
or just remove pvp io drops from arena and make them zone only - drive up the zone population and forces people to play to get the reward.
cuz there's no way in hell that it's easier to farm them in zone. nope. no way in hell.
