Kin/Elec question

I recently started a Defender,I was in an ae group where I was auto-sk, but for some reason, my damage using electric powers was really low, around 4-10 Damage per special, is this normal? Does electric really do so little damage at 50? or I am experiencing some kind of issue?

There are several things that may have been keeping your damage low. For one thing, many electric attacks deal Damage Over Time (DOT): many small "ticks" of damage rather than one large "bang". If you deal 4 damage 10 times, that's 40 damage. Second, you may have been SK'd up, but if your difficulty was high the enemies would still be higher level than you. That makes them take less damage. Third, at low levels you do not have access to the higher level enhancements (DOs, SOs, and IOs) that make your attacks do their maximum damage. You also don't have all your attacks yet, like your pet (Voltaic Sentinel) or your nuke (Thunder something... HO!).

Once you actually get to 50, you should be doing a lot more damage. But if you want your single-target damage numbers to be really high, you would do better with the Ice or Sonic secondaries.

I team with the Repeat Offenders.

Actually I always felt electric blast did better damage than most others, at least with the first two attacks, even though I know it is just perception. It has some of the harder hitting tier 1 and 2 attacks because they are on the longer timer (4 and 8 sec recharges) and it is all one damage type so you see the one big number instead of the split smaller numbers.

The one that always makes me feel pitiful is radiation blast. Pew, pew, pew.

To the OP, kin/electric is one of my favorite combo's. If you like it, stick with it. Your kinetic side will help a lot with your damage.

Kin/elec can pull some extremely insane things. In later levels, you'll be pretty much at damage cap and beating on opponents that can hardly fight back - ymmv

Or if you want to stick to /elec anyway, pick up Sparky since he acts like a 3rd attack. I prefer soloing on unyielding for a number of reasons, but /elec being a little more AoE based helps in that difficulty setting versus invinc.

Note. I have soloed high level CoT on unyielding and "soloed" an even level Snaptooth(blaster friend nuked for comedic value right off the bat and died) and both were done at a reasonable pace all things considered, ie defender damage and /elec damage, all the while without Sparky. I solo a lot when I play, but I don't solo defenders much at all. For Kin/elec, I just like running into the middle of a mass right next to the tank/other melee and doing my job.

He im level 8 and can see this is going to be one fast attack, draining, buffing very very fun toon.

The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.

If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
