Crashing and burning in a pile of smoking ****

So I spent a good two or three hours on city of heroes as me healer/empathy defender Medic Card (Freedom), playing with a team doing the Montague Castanella story arch, lost and found. The group gets to the last mission...and we are finally about to get our badge and guess what the game crashes on me.
Needless to say I'm pissed. By the time I get back on the group has gotten their badges and are going their separate ways.
I know it one of those moments were life just sucks and there nothing you can do about it...but I'm still upset. I've sent in a patients but I doubt that going to change things.
It just I've recently just restarted on this game after a year long brake....so to have this happen right off the bat gives me a bad taste in the mouth. What I want to know, has this ever happened to people before and is their anything I can do about it?

make sure your drivers are up to date. reset your modem once in a while. do a clean up on your comp. other then that there really is nothing you can do.

hmm...then no there isn't anything you can do. it just happens. worst time is when you're PvP'ing and it happens right in the middle of a good fight.

If you were doing your own missions and following along by auto-completing them, you could have just talked to the latin student yourself when you signed back in.

You can also just have somebody invite you to their team before they talk to the latin student, so you can get your badge. Sometimes people broadcast when they are about to do it.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but how do you expect other players to know how long it is going to take you to get back online?

People get disconnected all the time and we have no way of knowing the cause of it.

Maybe you have an old computer, Maybe there was a storm that caused a black out. Maybe the server was just laggy, Maybe you just quit without warning (yeah that actually does happen a lot with pugs)

Some people can get back online immediately, others take a while. You can't expect people to stand around twiddling their thumbs waiting for you. They have every right to continue to enjoy a game they paid to play.

Did you bother to check with each person on the team to find out if they had time restraints? Maybe they could only play for a few hours.

Maybe they set aside a certain length of time to do the story arc or had to finish it before they had to leave for work or some other real life situation.

I'm sorry you got DC'd but you just have to accept that these things happen.

@Forbin_Project
I think you miss understand.
I'm not made at the gamers...I'm mad at the game it self
People crash all the time, they did what any gamer would do and move on.

Well, I can say it's not a general issue with the game right now. If it repeats for you, I'd recommend going to the Technical Issues and Bugs section of the Forum and ask for assistance there (read the "++ Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines ++" post and follow what it tells you to do before making your initial post). They're a great group of people and they'll get you running smoothly again.
