updater will not connect
No problems for me here in South Texas.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Are you getting a message after inputting your password that says the game client can't connect to the login server? I've been getting that since yesterday afternoon. Getting verrrrry annoying. I'm on the East Coast also, Virginia. Could that have something to do with it (he wondered, ominousely...).
i am not even able to get to the place where my password is entered. i start the updater and it just continuously tries to connect, and will not even load the little store at the top. i was able to play earlier, but to no avail now...
just bypassed router and went direct to cable modem and still i get the same.
Try opening a command prompt (if using Vista or Windows 7 you'll need to elevate priveleges on it to Administrator) and type "ipconfig /flushdns" without the quotes then hit enter.
You should get a message that the DNS Resolver cache was successfully flushed.
If you get a different message, you either mistyped it or aren't running the command prompt with elevated priveleges.
It could be that something in the route between you and the game servers or the updater server is having problems. Clearing the DNS cache may force it to find a new path in case it is holding a bad address in the cache.

i have tried your suggestion, as well as the winsock reset to no avail. i have also bypassed my router and direct connected to the cable modem. maybe it is on their end? i have used the game through my router in the past without problem... btw it is vista i am running (gun to head)
It doesn't matter if you've connected in the past. If there is a problem anywhere between your computer and the CoH servers, you could have a routing issue that is out of your hands and likely out of the Paragon Studios and NCSoft hands to resolve.

i did connect directly to the internet, do you think the isp could be a possible problem?
Take a look at NCSoft Support and give the FAQs a try.
You'll end up running their Network Tool and submitting a support ticket. You will be creating a Support Account at this time which will have a different login and password from your Master Account and your Game Account (another thing to keep track of ).
They will have you jump through some hoops but they can help you, unfortunately its Friday, so you won't get a responce til Monday probably. Good luck.

crazy but i was able to d/l it and run it without fail on my desktop, but my laptop (which shares the same internet connection) will not connect still...
any suggestions? i have gone through the entire support page, aside from the network tool.
ok so here is a sweet little trick that worked. if you have a second computer, dl the updater to that pc, make sure it will run, then copy the entire coh folder to a flash drive and transfer it to the pc the updater will not work on. worked twice for me when i tried it back to back. thanks for all the help!
BY JOVE! It worked! So it looks like the problem was in the updater all along. I loaded CoH to a 2nd computer like you did, and transfered just the updater to this one. Works like a charm. I'll name my first born male child after you for this!
im glad this helped for someone other than myself. kind of an easy fix for a super frustrating problem.
is anybody having problems connecting with the updater right now? i have had problems for about 45 minutes, on the east coast. please help/respond...
