Retired life is tough
still waiting for the Turkey Pot Pie. Make me one NOA!

Dave: You clearly, as a retired guy, need a hobby.
I'm trying to burn 10 billion inf- not just spend 10 billion, remove it from the game. I'm at like 700 M after about a week. Wanna help me out?

I'm interested in how you do this. Though I have no plans to leave any time soon, when I do, I'm going to "salt the Earth" and delete everything. No one gets to "has my stuffs". I just did the math and I guess i could blow 10B in about 1.5 hours buying and deleting SOs, if I could buy/delete one per second. More realistically I guess it would take 2-3 hours.

Follow our advice and you'll be swimming in inf like Scrooge McDuck in no time at all.

Follow the advice in here, and you can pay someone to swim in your inf. like Scrooge McDuck in no time at all.

New player here and new to these boards. Which advice specifically? I'm willing to put in the effort and I'd like to better understand the IO/SO system while doing it. A point in the right direction is all I'm asking here.

Check the guides that are stickied in this forum. However, the basics are pretty much the same:
<ul type="square">[*]Observe prices on what you want to buy for awhile. Know where the highs and lows are.[*]The Last 5 prices are like the Pirate Code--more of a suggestion. When you want to buy or sell, use what you know from the first bullet: place your bids/post yours sales and walk away. Adjust as necessary.[*]Be aware that prices are lower earlier in the week. Perhaps you should buy then.[*]Be aware that prices are higher on the weekends. Perhaps you should sell then. Or when you have uber loot, buy stuff NAO because you can. [*]Heroes are weird: They will pay you outrageous sums to make stuff for them. Go fig.[*]The Smurphy Challenge: What is the lowest you can buy X that you have been observing? Can you sell it for at least 10% more than what you paid? Congrats, you now have something to flip for profit (and a niche for Fulmens to smack up).[/list]

I'll start looking at the guides. My problem begins with bullet one. I don't know 'what' to observe because as a new player I don't know what is good and what is bad. Perhaps the guides will help clear some of this up.
Thanks for the pointers...I'd like to make a lot of money 'making' things as part of my characters roleplay so that's where I'll start.

Knew I forgot one. Just use the Writer's Principle: Write what you know.
In your case, what did you want to buy lately? There's a pretty good chance other people did, too. What level of that do people like? Any particular reason, or are they just sheep? How much is the salvage? Does something seem like it's inordinately high?
Dive in and go nuts. Don't be afraid of mistakes, but for goodness' sake don't bid and buy in even 000. You will more easily type an extra zero in there and hit return.

Hedgefund: List a level 5 fly TO at 2 billion inf, pull it, lose the listing fee. That destroys 5%.
Do that 100 times, you should have about 10 million left.
If you have more than 2 billion, put in a bunch of bids on the same character for the same item (level 53 IO recipes work) for 2 billion each and the bids will stack. Cancel the bid and boom, you're down to 2 billion.
I'm trying to do this on OTHER people's money- or at least half other people's money.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
I believe Fulmens is trying to delete inf using only the market mechanics that currently exist. Otherwise, he could do something like register an SG, convert 10B to prestige, then leave the SG. Boom, 2 minutes tops.
Two things:
1) I estimated I had about 2 billion when I started. Upon closer examination, looks like I had maybe 3.5 billion.
2) Destroying MY inf doesn't really help the situation, any more than me hoarding it does. I want to destroy other people's inf at least as fast as I destroy mine. (Converting their inf into my inf helps, one supposes.)

@Boltcutter in game.
To truly grasp the depth of what Fulmen's trying to accomplish, I think that he should respec all of his alts back into SO/DO/TOs and delete his vast stockpiles of value in IOs. Only then can he completely destroy the beast.
... I think I still have a character 5-slotted for damage somewhere, in case they ever roll back ED.
OLD SCHOOL.

So you're saying ED is a follower of the old school of thought. Perhaps we should return to our roots to discover the secret of this monstrosity before us that you are challenging.
Best advice I can give is to buy recipes, craft, sell the IO, profit. Do like 15 mins of research and you'll see the huge premium that people place on this value-add service.
