Custom keybinds not saving

I've mapped "Autorun" to numlock and "Select Nearest Enemy" to R. I apply the changes, and save the file.

Every time I zone to a new map, city to city, mission map to city, city to mission, map . . . whatever . . . . the keybinds erase.

They don't re-map to their defaults, but rather change to "Not Set."

Anyone have advice?

That's an on-again off-again bug.

I suggest, for now, until the devs do fix this bug once and for all, to write a macro:

/macro bind "bindloadfile c:\[path_to_bind_file]\bindfile"

Then when you lose your binds just click the macro button. Once the devs fix it, delete the macro button, you won't need it any longer.

Try the following:

Set your new keybinds

type "/bindsavefile mybinds.txt" in your chat window.
under the options menu, in the keybinds tab, click the red button reset your binds to the default setting.
type "/bindloadfile mybinds.txt" in your chat window.

I've had the occasional situation where my binds would stop working (very annoying when my "1" key broke, making me have to use the mouse to fire off my most frequently used powers ), and this has been able to fix it.

Go to your CoH directory and delete keybinds.txt. Then enter the game.

Then, make sure there's no other bind trying to use those keys. Bind the 'no operation' and then a blank bind to them like this...

/bind <key> nop
/bind <key> ""

Then bind them the way you want them. Then save them with /bindsave

Then log out. Do not zone. Do not exit directly to desktop. Let the countdown count down. This ensures there's a server save of your character. Then exit the game. Reboot your computer.

Go back into the game and see if your keybinds stuck.

I tried Zombie_Man's method first, and had no luck. I did recall having a similar issue a long time ago, and it was related to not logging out entirely for the server-save. Thanks tho.

Thanks also to Reactor for taking the time, but I didn't need to resort to making a macro.

That's because Korith's solution resolved the issue! Worked like a charm!

Again, I really appreciate everyone's input. I was so frustrated for weeks, when I should have just come here.

What a great community.

Glad to hear you got it working!

Personally, I never rely on the game to make my binds. I edit all of my binds manually, in EditPlus+. Each character gets their own bind file, and L is permanently set to load their personal keybind file.

So far, it's worked great for me.
