So I've been back for abit and need a little help with my katana dark armor. I am trying to get him to become more survivable without changing much in regards to his current build. I will consider power changes though if you can give out basic numbers and why this is a good change.

I am not sure where you are going with this build. My suggestion is to concentrate on Ranged and AoE defense and shoot for a 20% melee defense so one DA will put you at ~35% and two will cap you. With your resists you can probably let AoE slide a little. If you can get Ranged up to ~40% and AoE ~30% you will see a significant survivability jump and you can do some crazy stuff.

Assuming you want to keep Hasten I would definitely plan for Weave and lots of Blessing of Zephyr bonuses. BoZ also gives you multiple Knockdown protection IOs which is great for DA.

The build below makes some sacrifices, but Hasten recharges in about the same time as your build and it has high defense. Ranged is almost 40%, AoE is over 35%, and melee is 20@ before DA. Gambler's is boosted by the Resist Debuff and a damage proc since it assumes you'll be using it a lot.

(It's not meant to be a final build but a start with which you can tweak. I am not entirely happy with the slotting for your heal for example since it doesn't have enough End reduction.)

some reason all I get from copying your mids code is an error on my mids...thanks for the time though to looking into my build.

Sorry Zet, just got home to where I can look at this. Before I make any suggestions, are you opposed to taking Weave? I think it could add quite a bit to your build.

Do you have the latest patch for MIDs?

Here is the build:

Pertinent stats:

Defense:
Mel 20
Ran 39.3
AoE 35.6

(Not including the PvP IO for another +3%)

Resists:
S/L 46.5
F/C 41.5
E 23.5
N 53.2

Hasten downtime: 25 seconds

You'll might want to swap around slots to get a couple into Build Up, and tweak some other powers to your taste.

I've been looking at my BS/DA build and trying to achieve something comparable in regards to survivability for your Kat/DA build. I think you need to drop a power pool. I did mine with out any Epic pools, so things fit in more smoothly, IMHO.

Zet, given the choice which would you give up, hasten or Body Mastery?

probably body mastery just because dark really has no slow protection so if I get hit with a slow I can hit hasten.

I *could* drop Focused Accuracy and put Gaussian's into Build Up. Another option is to put Gaussian's into Build Up and keep FA with one slot just to combat ToHit debuffs.

The problem with dropping Hasten, other than losing the gratuitously overpowered Recharge buff, is I also lose Superspeed and I need that BoZ bonus. I would have to pick up Teleport or something as a BoZ mule anyway.

I don't think the end usage would be management in long fights without Conserve Power. Obsidian Gloom adds very little to the build. Minions really aren't an issue. Cloak of Fear slotted for ToHit Debuff would be great, but I don't think the build could manage the endurance cost.

Ok,here's the rough draft. I'm basically using my BS/DA build to modify yours but trying to keep the same basic order of the powers you selected. If you actually chose this, you'd likely change the powers up a bit.

The biggest hurdle of this build will be acquire 3 full sets of Blessing of the Zephyr. In addition of covering your KB protection that also give hefty AoE and Ranged Defense bonuses.

This build features recovery of 4.08 EPS with a consumption of 1.59. This assumes you have the Atals Medallion and Portal Jockey accolades and are not running Hasten.

Zet you were not around when this PROC was introduced by I STRONGLY recommend you acquire a Theft of the Essence: Chance for +endurance PROC. On average, this will make Dark Regeneration free. When fighting large spawns, it will frequently net more endurance than you started with you fired Dark Regeneration. It is arguably the most important endurance managing IO any Dark Armor build can get.

Defense: A single application of Divine Avalanche will put you at 40.3 % defense to Melee and lethal. For none lethal attacks, you can rely on 29.2% ranged defense and 30.8 AoE defense. In my experience, these values dramatically improve Dark Armor's survivability.

OK, enough babbling, here's what I put together.

Thanks for the build suggestions, I think I am going to try out des's suggestions simply because I feel it keeps the integrity of what makes dark armor dark armor...might not seem like a mez toggle is important but honestly getting a couple of DA's or just being there to help teammates with additional stuns means more than just minions are being effected.

quick question on the zephyr set des...can I just slot those in hurdle instead...saving me a power choice?

Nope. Hurdle and Swift do not take IO sets

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah....basically follows the same rules as all the other Travel Power IOs. The stealth IOs pretty much did in Swift and Hudle for IO sets.

This is incorrect. Prestige Sprints will not accept IO sets, but your regular sprint will. Incidentally, so will power slide.

Sprint will take run and jump sets but not universal travel unfortunately.

My mistake. I was unaware of this. I logged in to test it, and sadly you are correct.
