Hi there I am new to teh game and am asking for a friend who is thiking about coming to join me here. Is DB viable or not? Also hes thinking about combining that with regen but i hear super reflexes is good as well. Any advice would help so thanks in advance.

DB bad
SR bad
Regen good enough
scrappers w/o taunt not good enough.

so what sr sucks now also? is regen the only way to pvp in this game at all for a scrapper? i mean damn i left wow because of its pvp imbalance but damn it seems this game is even worse from what i gather. or am i wrong?

Fire armor does well for scrapers too. Its more skill based then regen but has more damage potential.

very disappointing to hear since i was hoping to do some pvping on my katana/sr but damn it seems if i am not regen or fire then i cant do a thing. my friend and i are not asking to be "overpowered". we just want to be able to play fine.

and to be honest its really hard to find out information on pvp since the guides are outdated, but anyways thanks for the input any other opinions or info would help a newcomer a great deal.

You can do fine against other Melee toons on your Katana/SR Scrapper, just keep Divine Avalanche double stacked for most the fight. Also, if you "live" in Elude...SR can be decent at least, but that requires living in your tier9 which is...uh...well...sorta lame

Dual blades is horrible in PVP. On any toon.

Scrapper - Fire sword, MA, or Broad Sword
Tank - SS or Fire Sword
Brute - SS or Fire Sword
Stalker - EM or Elec

O yea.. SR is lol now since they lowered the Elusitivity from 30% to 10%. Fire Armor is OK....but i would not pick it over regen. The problem with Fire armor is that your HP will be lacking. No Dull Pain FTW. Also..i might be going out on a limb here...but how is Invu now on scrappers??? I never see one..so either A.) Theu are horrible or B.) Most scrappers have downs and don't know how to play one properly. It would be cool to see one in zone. But never do. I'm going with option B

inv is only good on tanks with high regen. I've done the some numbers checking and Inv for scrappers does not gain enough HP back and on brutes they can't take sustained dmg like a tank does. They both need aid self to compete, but getting aid self on a melee toon just makes you into a fight clubber.

I don't know..i've seen Hellora take on like 7 heroes on his invul brute...what is the differnce between invul brute and invul tanks??? Besides Tanks get more HP.

I dont know I just find it odd that only a select few combinations are even viable for pvp out of the many many power combinations there are.

heres a question, since sr is crap now is it still better than wp. I ask because my original intention was to make a kat/wp but since i hear lots of bad things about wp I was hoping for sr to be good, but if they are both on the same level i might as well get wp since thats how i wanted my original toon to be.

I mean honestly I do not like any of the other move sets so I think I am going to mainly pve and pvp just for fun. I do not care if I "wtfpwn" everyone in the whole map. I just want to be able to get a decent kill ratio. I pvp for fun not to be the top dog on some ladder I mean i dont think I have the time for something like that.

So pretty much what I am trying to ask the community is that with a build that doesnt have regen and spines or whatever is the best, can I still hold my own here? or is there like no chance of me being decent?

I know I am new to the game and is being a big noob here, but like I said from what I have gathered here on the forums is that if you do not have spines or broadsword/ regen or fire then you will never be decent in pvp and I find this very strange with a game that has so many combinations to choose.

If you choose to answer my questions then I thank you since I am very confused and would like some clarification.

Just go Regen..you can't go wrong.

Regen FTW!!!

ahh, i guess ill go regen, sucks though that i have to be pigeonholed into something i dont want to be in order to enjoy the game.

Doesn't it though? It used to be that if you knew what you were doing, you could bring just about anything into PvP and do well with it (provided it was build well). These days, not so much.

what was it that changed mac? was it that i13 i keep hearing so much about? anyways ive decided to just play what is fun for me and thats kat/wp for pve. ill pvp for fun and if i decide i really enjoy pvp enough to make me change playstyles then i will go reroll regen or something viable, but till then pvp will be a side thing. i hope in the future some balance changes can lift my spirits on this matter. anyways thank you all for the help, opinions, and advice. if you see me in zone, go easy on me im rocking a gimp build

Travel suppression, diminishing returns, base resists, new mez/toggle rules, and damage balancing. Previously all those things worked the same as PvE (you only suppressed if you attacked, and some powers would grant unsuppressed movement, for example) - diminishign returns and heal decay didn't exist, there were no base resistances, mezzes lasted as long as they do in PvE but mez protection actually gave protection, and powers did about the same damage they do in PvE. It's generally agreed on that the new PvP is a slower and dumbed-down version of the old one.

that sucks. one of the reasons i was so exited on the pvp in this game was because of the speed. it looked exiting so i am hoping that the devs realize they made a mistake and perhaps help buff the more gimp powers also. anyways man thanks for the info and thanks everyone who posted and helped. take care all.
