Placate useful solo?
I've found it to be very useful solo. You get the second strike from hide and it's a useful in keeping a second opponent out of the fight until you're ready for them.

you will find many many of situations were placate is useful solo.. the least of all is the auto crit...
main thing about placate is the eraser of aggro all aggro... The only was you will get aggro again is if you attack go unhidden or attack one of his spawn mates...
I have found that Placate is MORE useful solo than it is on large teams. I almost never use it when I team.

Against an Elite Boss. YES! Anything, really. Triple spawns will let you AS two enemies. It's great quite often.

Hi,
I'd like to know if Placate is useful solo to get the auto crit twice or is it canceled by getting aggro?
thanks

I find Placate is mostly useful when I solo.... you can lose aggro on boss, AS him or run away.
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
Yep. I use Placate much more often while soloing than I do while teaming.

Please help me understand the use of Placate for my new stalker.
I Placate an enemy, but other enemies can still attack me. If they thump me, my Assassin's Strike gets interrupted. So, what's the strategy here?

I'll go against the grain and say "it depends". Some people swear by it, and with some stalker sets, it seems to boost survivability alot especially when solo, but the only stalker I have leveled up significantly is my claws/regen stalker and frankly I kill things so fast as it is, I can't see ever spending the time to use placate. I guess maybe in some EB fights it might be ok for a short respite for the rare instances when my stamina gets a bit low from a prolonged fight and I haven't any blues... but aside from that I just don't see the need.

The first attack you use after placate gets a crit just as if you are hidden, if you use placate on one mob, you can instantly attack another and get a crit AND the mob you used placate on will not attack you for a short period of time unless you attack it first. You have to use your own judgement on what attacks you can get off in the situation you're in, a defense based char against normal mobs has a good chance of getting off an AS, a resistance/regen based char will have to settle for a faster animating attack to get the crit off.
Common stalker solo tactics are to AS a mob, placate it's partner or the thrid in the trio and crit on the first mob again to finish it off or the second one to do a large amount of damage, when the first one or two are down, you should have enough time for hide to pop up again before the 3rd mob agros on you from placate ending.
It's also good against single hard targets when you need to recover or retreat. If you constantly scrap instead of using hide for crits beyond the first, it's just useful for an additional crit.
