How would one go about finding out who wrote...

I believe Hero 1 wrote most of the older mission arcs, IIRC.

I wish I knew who wrote that one - I'd love to know more about that world (among other reasons, because I reference that mission in a story of mine).

Hero 1 started working for Cryptic as Issue 9 was being prepared. The mission in question debuted in Issue 2.

So, more than likely, it was either Matt Miller (Positron), Sean Michael Fish (Manticore), or Brian Gilmore (Constellation) who wrote it.

Yep - in my story THE COURSE OF SUPERHERO ROMANCE, Sorina Tavarisch goes on assignment to Portal Corporation, doing that mission. When she comes back, she confesses her fears to Raymond Keyes (aka Positron) about that being a world where she actually DID finally gain true powers - and lost control both over her power and her sanity.

Since then, the two have not yet really talked about what happened to her there, but Sorina's due for another Portal Corp assignment... and she's afraid.

Manitcore left Cryptic for a job at NCSoft Austin leading up to Issue 6. He's been gone a long time.

Constellation took over as head writer up to Issue 9, when Hero 1 took over.

Now that Cryptic is fully in the NCSoft family, they mentioned that Manticore can be called upon for consultation or maybe even a part-time gig for certain projects, although, except for his participation in last year's Valentine Event, I'm not aware if any of that came about.

He WAS at HeroCon '08, and gave me the impression he still has a hand in what's going on over at Paragon Studios.

We got this, and very little else. He might be around enough to get PMs. I'd bug WW about it. Not her purview, necessarily, but she's been here for forever and is really great responding to PMs.

THIS ARC?

Was Posi doing end game stuff back in the day?

[/ QUOTE ]

That arc was written by none other than Jane Kalmes aka Grammar Girl. She often gets forgotten in the CoH writer discussions but she edited most all the original CoH text and wrote a huge number of CoH and CoV missions.

Posi was still doing some writing back then but he had already mostly moved toward system design and bigger picture stuff.

I'm still around working on the game btw, although I'm more focused on web and forum work these days. In fact look for a new thread soon where I will be working with Hero 1 and the gang to answer your lore questions.

Really need to get Grammar Girl as a signature character in the game.

In fact, she needs a task force, in which you can round up dangling modifiers and enforce subject-verb agreement.

Jane is credited on the CoH and CoV boxes, but she is not one of the 'Surviving 15.' So, she left Cryptic, or got moved to a different project, sometime after Issue 6 and before Issue 11.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah, so that explains the noticeable drop in spelling and grammar quality of official content around the time (or shortly after) City of Villains came out.
