Seeking: Chart of Damage Types Vs. Enemy Lvl Res

Kept seeing references in posts to how some damage types become more resisted later in the game. This plus the dev tweaks ensures that I’m never quite sure if a character that feels good in early levels will be as viable later on.

Had the notion of a graph depicting the how over the course of leveling the effectiveness of damage types vs. the average enemies encountered (standard PVE) and their resistance.

Granted I have found some great information such as Culex's Post.

Didn’t know if such chart already exists or if the more statistically inclined forum goers have additional solid numbers.

The plus side is that the result is a quick at a glance reference, instead of burrowing into the statistics.

Besides in just running numbers with Culex’s work I’m just not seeing any staggering damage type ineffectiveness.

You are meaning something akin to my latest update, where I have enemies sorted with their appearance per 10-level range, and the resistances from that? It runs with most of the common enemies (only a few are untabulated; it takes out all the GMs & Objects & summoned & event things, leaves in AVs/EBs as those are found in personal missions)... and it churns out
Code:[/color]

1-9: S 0.98 L 0.97 F 0.98 C 1.01 E 1.00 N 0.98 P 1.01 T 0.97

10-19: S 0.97 L 0.96 F 0.98 C 1.00 E 0.99 N 0.98 P 1.01 T 0.95

20-29: S 0.94 L 0.93 F 0.98 C 0.96 E 0.99 N 0.98 P 0.97 T 0.93

30-39: S 0.95 L 0.92 F 0.99 C 0.96 E 0.98 N 0.98 P 0.94 T 0.94

40-49: S 0.93 L 0.91 F 0.96 C 0.95 E 0.95 N 0.95 P 0.89 T 0.93

50+: S 0.93 L 0.90 F 0.96 C 0.95 E 0.95 N 0.95 P 0.87 T 0.94

So no, there are no staggering differences. Outside of that data, what precisely are you looking for?

First off Culex, thank you for spending so much time and effort on that spreadsheet.

A very well assembled and meticulously crafted document indeed.

I was using it much as you had suggested to run some numbers. And actually in the way you have depicted before I made my post.

On my end there were two notions. One was just some peace of mind that I wasn’t wasting time on a flawed power set choice.

The other was to determine if there were any quantifiable reasons for forum rants and comparisons.

A made up example this something to the extent of “my Ice/Ice Brute is way more viable in the end game than your Elec/Elec Tanker.” (Where upon I have comically transposed archetype power sets.)

Again thanks for pointing out that in the end the enemy damage resistance isn’t a dramatic issue.

Yeah, the base of it is that the GAME is fairly well-balanced. The FACTIONS are not. A person, to achieve better balancing, is best picking their enemy groups (also checkable with my sorting list, just like the levels). Or picking the exact enemies via specialized MA things, whatever they choose. A person who does Psi or Lethal damage primarily might be better off avoiding <Arachnos> because many of their enemies highly resist it. And since we CAN pick what factions we fight (at worst, we zone and grab a different set of papers to choose from, or custom-MA stuff) the overall balancing problems really don't end up too severe in the end. It only screws up folks who want to run ALL the content solo or something.

At least back in the day I'd see calls out in broadcast for Lethal damagers for Madame of Mystery, heh

Posting this here since the other resistance thread is on a bit of a tangent:

What I'm more interested in is what the average resistances are for enemies who have them. That is, what do we get if we throw out all of the 0s? I've never played a psi blast character, but my friends who have pretty consistently say that it's not resisted much, but when it is resisted, it's like trying to slap a brick wall to death.

Then do that! There are plentiful instructions on the sheet, and as long as you don't save (or are fine re-downloading) you can experiment all you like. It'd be quite the simple task in fact; just 2 steps.

Unfortunately, I'm at work and can't download the sheet, but I'll give it a try this weekend.

Culex took the figures from your reply converted them into a Percent to indicate chance of failure.

The grouping is pretty darn close on average.

The charts are not things of beauty, but Overlord & Associates LLC might be using them for an evil presentation.

Nice to look at that way, those charts! On both of them though you have 10-11 as a range, instead of 10-19. Doesn't affect the data, but you might like to know I figured.
