Thinking of Returning

the game's a lot like it ever was with some incremental improvements.

If you liked it before, you'll probably like it more now. If you didn't' like it before, I doubt anything they've done will change your mind.

Basically true. With the exception of PVP. That has changed so much that if you liked it before, you'll probably not like it now. It's a work in progress.

No, I wouldn't say now is a good time to return, sure theres lots of new content, but be careful, because if you choose the wrong content or level too quick, that's an exploit, and you'll be hit with a Ban stick.
Whats the "wrong content" or "too quick"? No one knows.
It's a minefield.
And this has seen a lot of Veterans leave.

This is grotesquely overblown. You can, and I have, level like a rocket with absolutely no fear. I think a great deal of what you read about this is deliberate spin and exaggeration.

Wait till issue 15, see what it offers then decide for yourself if you want to come back.

Issue 14 will have settled down mostly by then.

Currently there are just too many changes, bugs, and issues with the MA for authors AND readers/users (the inherent issues with the star rating system AND the fact that MA's search is basically useless, until some of the announced improvements in issue 15 go through) that I would not recommend it.

Ignore the forums. Both the rah rah folks and doom doom folks.

Did you miss the "Log-out protest" monday? or was that just a Justice thing?

[/ QUOTE ]

Everybody I know missed it.

And aren't you the same troll who's been baiting the Farewell Threads in the Justice Forums?

So Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about.

The fact that there even is a "Farewell" thread should be a indication of the state of current morale.

there were unhappy people, some were guilty, some were innocent, some of those innocent were veterans and are leaving, (MrDead knows many of the people I'm talking about, but I'm sure he'll only have rude things to say, just as he has ruined what were solemn goodbye threads in the justice forums)

On the scale of Catastrophes it's not Star Wars Galaxies, but it's at least comparable to ED, and sure, CoX recovered from ED, and there have been a lot of fun times since. But right now, today, is a bad day, so, if you've waited this long, wait another two weeks, things will have settled down, equilibrium will be reestablished, and I15 looks promising.

So here's hoping that tomorrow is a better day, and if you end up on Justice, we will make you very welcome.

I wear my troll badge proudly because it annoys you rocky-horror-my-space-emo-drama clones.

But you keep trying to keep people from coming back and pointing at me and saying 'He's a bad guy!'

What the majority of us are saying, is "Come Join Us". Give it a try for a month, you will likely know long before the 30-days is up, if you want to stay or not.

CoX is my second MMO. I played EQ back in the day, and frankly, got bored withing 3 weeks. So with CoX, I didn't take the plunge immediately, after the trial I was still enjoying it, so I opted for the monthly subscription for the first three months, then I changed to the 3-month sub, then the 6-month sub, yesterday I sub'd for another year.

So I'm going to be here for a while.

As someone else put it, "Come on in, the water's fine."

Well it's been a long time since I've played this game. Last time I played was when CoV released. I played for a few months after that and moved to other games. I'm pretty much getting fed up with WAR and am considering returning to this game. So is it Worth coming back? How is it now? Is the pvp any count? How is the PVE now? How is the RP community now in this game? It looks like they may have consolidated servers when I was last here, but I'm not really sure. It's been so long I don't even remember the server I was on. If this is the case and you were on one of the servers that was closed what happened to your chars? Thanks for your feedback.

There's been a lot of changes for the better since you were last playing: New powersets, powerset proliferation between villains and heroes, new costume pieces and weapon customization (some you have to pay a little extra for), epic villain archetypes, purchaseable character slots so you can go bananas with alts, a zone makeover or two, frequent zone-specific events like zombie or Rikti invasions, auction houses for buying and selling salvage/inspirations/enhancements, and the mission creation system.

PVE's about where it was when CoV launched, though there are new sources of mission content, like the safeguard/police band, Vanguard, Ouroboros, and Cimerora missions, that will keep players from ever hitting a mission drought that used to plague the game. With the addition of patrol XP (think WoW's rested XP bonus), levelling moves at a much faster clip than it did before, too.

PVP is still the afterthought it's always been.
