a ice/ice stalker would be awsome. I would love to play one.

If you look at most t9 stalkers powers it is all some kind of godmodes....hmmm

[/ QUOTE ]

Same is true of Tankers, Scrappers and Brutes. Yet there are still sets like Dark and Fire that don't get one.

Not say I would be strictly against* Ice for Stalkers getting one, but I doubt that they would given that the only instance of Ice Armor in game Doesn't.

*Frankly I think MOST Stalker sets really could have used more thematically "assassinish" powers. As is they're all (except Ninjutsu) just basic armor sets with Hide.*

I would rather they sub in another another power, even if it was only situationally useful, than effectively have 1 less power to pick from.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, in that case, one could just not select Ice Armor, if they felt they got one less power choice.

I personally wouldn't change it. For one, that's been the set's tier9 for as long as it's been around. Best to just keep it that way. IMO anyways.

I personally wouldn't consider it, one less power. I'd consider it meant one wouldn't have to take it in the epics. And could therefore take something else.

There are no instances of powers being duplicated within an Archetype (outside of VEATs, which are a special case).

So Hibernate would -have- to be replaced.

or...

There are no instances of powers being duplicated within a powerset, so they could do it for the first time EVER!

They try to avoid redundancy when possible. I mean, otherwise, they wouldn't have changed Dark Armor the way they did (specifically the addition of Shadow Dweller). It's just a good policy, yanno?

EDIT: And I'm still not sure why you're so faskinated with Hibernate being in Ice Armor for Stalkers, when they can get it no matter what their secondary is 6 levels later with just one extra power choice (Spirit Shark or Water Spout). :/ You can slot it just the same at 44 as you can at 38.

For the melee portion, you can sort of look at Energy Melee - it's almost exactly the same as the Tanker version, except that Assassin Strike is in place of Taunt, Whirling Hands switched places with Build Up, and Stun got pushed back for Placate (which replaced Whirling Hands).

[/ QUOTE ]

Generally, Scrapper-to-Stalker conversions change two things - Taunt becomes Placate and one AoE becomes an Assassin's Strike. Rearrangement of the powers in the set isn't really so much a factor of proliferation as it is a factor of AT power order, so that's a little more expected. Occasionally, like with Tanker-to-Brute Fiery Melee, an AoE might be replaced with a concentrated high-damage attack, suck as Combustion to Cremate (is Tanker Combustion the same as the Blaster version?), but since I'm not familiar with Ice Melee, I can't say what might suffer this fate.

[ QUOTE ]
Why, is my question? >> We already have an Ice Melee set. It seems kind of silly to totally redo it when you have a fairly solid frame to work with.

[/ QUOTE ]

Last time I checked (which was a few years ago) Stalkers had guaranteed criticals even out of hide if attacking a target which was held or asleep. Giving them direct holds might, therefore, become problematic. Now, I'm not sure if they kept this when they gave Stalkers their sliding critical hit percentage out of hide, and if the held criticals are removed, that wouldn't be THAT much of a problem. What's more, Ninjutsu already has a fair amount of larger-scale control, so that doesn't seem out of place, other problems aside.

They lost that change when the new Crit stuff went in, Sam.

You have a higher chance to crit out of hide, that goes higher up the more friendly people that are close to you, and a chance to fire off an AoE Fear when you achieve an AS.

To compensate, Stalkers no longer crit off of mez'd opponents.

EDIT: Adjusted to try and make it more clear that you need players on your team close to you to grant a +Crit bonus, and not just anyone period. << That was a bit silly of me, and I apologize.

Yes, that's the change that finally convinced me to play a Stalker, so I spent a good deal of time looking into it Somehow I neglected to find out if the OLD mechanic was still in place, however. I'm glad it isn't. It was interesting, but really bad in practice. Too inconsistent.

At least the current mechanic just needs "people" in general, not people who had controls and used them, and only against the opponents they used control on

I like Hibernatye, for what it does and it's fun just to watch it's break out animation.

That said, I don't care much for the spirit sharks.

I like Hibernate, and think the Spirit Sharks are the stupidest power(s) in the entire freaking game.

I'm still against having Hibernate duplicated in both Ice Armor and the PPPs.

Okay, so the spirit sharks are out, but how does this necessarily discredit the Water Spout? >.> It's a giant column of spinny water!

Not gonna happen.

Hibernate has already been established as a power in the leviathan mastery set for stalkers.

Removing it from the pool would subsequently impact existing player characters, their builds, and potentially their playstyles.

Subbing something in Hibernate's place for Ice Armor however, negatively impacts no one, as there are no stalkers with the set.

Never said it did.

I'm perfectly fine with Water Spout. But then personally, if I just -had- to have Hibernate in my build, I'd pick up the Shark if it were the only option, I just wouldn't bother slotting/using it.

Well, in that instance, I'd still prefer the water spout over the spirit shark. I'd rather take something I may or may not use every now and then, as opposed to something I'd almost guarantee I'd never use. >.> Water Spout at least has some humor value in it, in addition to being a bit of a damage freak of a power (if you can set it up right - it's a lot like Tornado; Great distraction, but if you can lock stuff down it'll obliterate it).

To each their own, though. I fully agree with your assessment about the Leviathan pool as it is now.

Generally, I find "Fish Mastery" to be by far the dumbest thing in the entire game, not to put too fine a point on it. Can I trade that for an Ice Stalker?
