I was running a itf last week on my stalker. It was a pick up team with a brute a corr and the rest veats.

I had a tray full of purples to take down rom. I popped my def to 40 and scrapped away. Each time I got hit I popped more till I hit the def cap ~200. I got rom to a sliver of health left then I went down and soon after the rest of the team.

I know for rsf you can cap your def. But why was I still getting hit? I figured that even if my def was getting debuffed popping a new one would bring me back up.

The Mire/PBAoE Nictus... the one that makes purple circles on the ground... cheats and autohits you through defense. Defense won't save you against the Mire Nictus. It is usually the first one to sacrifice itself to save Rom.

Eat oranges, try not to stand inside it's circle, have someone try and move it away, joust, kill Rom first, or pray are your options.

One of the nictii has an autohit power.

No amount of defence works versus that

I want to say that Rom has an auto-hit aura, but I'm not certain. I do know my SR was taking damage while not being in range of his broadsword AoEs nor taking fire from a Nictus.

However, I'm not certain.

EDIT: so it was a Nictus after all, then? Good to know.

Oranges thanks.

A few months ago I purposely dumped all the oranges in my base and just have purples. Since pickup teams for itf are much easier to put together versus rsf guess I'll have to start stocking up.

Usually I try to go for 2 or 3 brutes but since I've recently discovered how awesome my bane alt is I thought veats would do fine.

Well, actually, on my Stone Armor Tanker in Granite Armor with Power Boosted Bubbles and Power Boosted Fortitude, the Sunless Mire Nictus Essence (AV) wasn't hitting me. So,

High enough Defense > Romulus_Augustus_Nictus.Friends["Sunless Mire"].Accuracy

The only thing they have that's auto-hit seems to be the Death Throw and has a radius of a bazillion yards and line of sight.

No, it is autohit. Watch your combat log. You were just in enough resistance that you didn't notice.

Wait...5 VEATS couldn't handle Rom? That doesn't seem right.

A lot of veats don't take their TT powers sadly.

is it an autohit power? I presumed one of them just acted like a DE quartz eminator and threw down +200% tohit rendering defence useless.
