50318 - Patch Day
It was awesome the first time through, so much so that I think I'll hop on it again, possibly with my TriFormShade this time around!

I had a pretty different experience on my attempt this morning. I picked up the arc, hoping that with one mish I should be able to blow through it before work. No luck there.
Ran this on my 38 elec/kin corr on diff 3 (my standard); I usually solo pretty well with him (although slowly) as its a versatile set. I have completed several arcs on solo at the difficulty without too many problems. I'm used to dying frequently, but those are usually where I get over my head or I've made some critical error in playstyle. Whatever.
I think I died about six or seven times just attempting to free the hostage who was clearly visible by the time I entered the mish. I think I went through about three or four mobs of the mish in total before I decided that I was going to need a team to help take the heat.
The Corrupted Data critter was a [censored]. I live and die off of my acc, and a combination of dark/rad (which is double -tohit, along with -def, and possible -resist; along with negative energy damage) was just an exercise in futility. This was on top of having about three or so claw/?? Typo Bugs on me in an average group. And these were all minions. I managed to clear these guys after about four deaths, and then the Ambush hit. Spawned right on top of me with four minions (SS/?? fanbois), and a LT (ice/storm), death number 5/6. When I spawned back in, I was furiously hitting my insps and trying to mitigate the incoming damage and managed not to die again.
I was about to call it there, but I decided that maybe the (presumed) ally would help out with this kind of trouble and I could hazard running in and grabbing him (since the guarding group had cleared) and trying one more time.
The Ally is an LT. This was not going to help me. As soon as I got next to him, the nearest critter group rushed in and started shreding us all over again. That was the 6-7th death and too much for me. Quit, comment, no rating.
I had a inkling that this was going to be a slightly difficult mission, expecting an EB during at the end - but with the mention of "Trolls" in the description I overlooked checking to see that there were nothing but Custom Groups prior to jumping in. I notice that the arc was posted not too long after i14 dropped, so this might be suffering from some of the early MA arc mistakes (too many custom critters; critters too strong for soloing).
On the other hand, the customs were well designed visually, and I appreciated that all the critters had flavor text. I didn't think there were flaws in how the mission was laid out, but I would not return to this on solo and I don't know if it would hold attention in a team.
Did not rate because I did not want to tank a rating due to getting in over my head. But I don't think this is easily soloable for a squishie or a low-to-mid level toon for that matter. For what appears to be a humor-based mission arc, there's just a little too much frantic button mashing to save yr life.

twelfth: THANK YOU. I haven't gotten any feedback from anyone on the difficulty of the mish, and wasn't sure i should trust my own solo-toon testing...
Do you think nerfing those Corrupted File and Tpyo minions, as well as boosting the Allies to Boss level, would be enough to fix things?
(rad and dark seemed like the obvious choices for corruption, and Tpyo tries to claw your eyes out. However, as much as that amused me, if it's unworkable i'll change the powersets )
Nothing a healthy dose of confuse won't fix. My melee fortunata passed with flying colors.
Getting free radiation buffs, free pain buffs, all while watching a bunch of thugs unload a hail of lead into their leader, is a sight that makes me giddy.
They're definitely challenging mobs, and how you balance them is your decision. For the majority of the playerbase though, I'd say they're most likely too hard. Minions should not be buffers/debuffers, because you will get alot of them.
At least you avoided the prime offenses for your standard mobs. Namely, status protection, and buildup/aim. The Rollback looked like he used Active defense, as I couldn't touch him with my mezzes, but it's hardly different from an EB/AV that has PToD.
I agree that the debuffers should not be minions, making them LTs would bump their powers up a bit but would also make them less frequent. At the LT level, there's likely only to be one or two (if solo) in a group and those could be handled by soft controls that many ATs have or at least alpha targets.
But yeah, the balance is in your hands. I would say that if you kept them the same that you recommend team play or some kind of disclaimer. It's hard for me to say now 'cause I don't know what the critters are power wise and I'm not in game to look at them.
Oh, also buffing the LT to a Boss would depend on on the powerset, but with AR/?? (never saw him do anything since I died immediately after activating him)...it would increase the ally's survivability; although that might not be a priority. At this time, you sort of have a challenge-lite mish for a solo character. It doesn't seem to mesh with the lighthearted/humor tone you're going for. If I got further into the mission, I might able to say more.
Just as a matter of curiosity, what AT/powerset did you test the mission using?

I tested the mish with my 50 stalker and 40 bots mm. Upon reflection, this may have not provided me with a balanced view of things...
I have nerfed the minions as well as making the final boss an EB, not an AV. He should scale down to a Boss for the soloers on low diff levels, yes? I left their powersets the same. I *do* want things to be a bit hectic, but doable with proper target prioritizing.
The Allies are now both Bosses, not Lts. That should keep them with you longer, which i want, 'coz i like them . A careful soloer might even be able to schlep them to the end fight. And yeah, QA guy was meant more for a player-buffer then serious offense; that's what the player's there for, after all.
I think these things in combination should make it more fun for anyone, and if soloers want a challenge, Diff 5 should provide that for them. Also, i left out the mention of the AV (now EB) in the mish desc. Oops. Fixed that too.
Thanks for all the help, folks!
UPDATE: Soloed this on a 15 thugs/paindom MM. Hit the floor once, didn't see the Dup Error group i'd pulled behind me. The QA guy ally still hits kinda hard with the snipe, as a boss, but it doesn't fire often, so i'm ok with that. He spends most of his time buffing. The heat stuff was useful when the PeeVeePee ambush happened xD.
Overall, barring any glaring mistakes i might've missed, i think i'm done tuning it.
From my personal experience, minions having CC/debuff powers were quite amusing for my Peacebringer, but very much not so for my Warshade. I'm talking here about MindControl/DarkMiasma minions which essentially rendered the team I brought with me into my mission quite frustrated (although my wife said she wasn't frustrated but actually bored!)
So, I've learned my lesson, Minions stack because that's how the game's engine spawns groups, minions first and plenty of them!
Also, Rollback himself is quite a nut to crack when you solo on most squishies... not that that's a bad thing mind you, but you know... just saying.

I'll take at look at it this week, looks like work is going to be a bear, so I'm not sure what my online time will be like.
Looking forward to it, though.

Hey there, glad you could make it! You don't mind putting in some overtime this weekend, do you? Good! 'Coz the latest patch we rolled out the other day doesn't seem to be Working As Intended!
There are some Trolls and Fanbois who refuse to log off - go boot them out of the servers, will you? And I mean boot; we're going to have to digitize you directly into the machines to really fix things! You don't mind that, do you? Good!
We, ah, already tried this with one of our other QA Techs, and haven't heard from him since... see if you can find the guy before HR starts asking uncomfortable questions, mmmkay? Find the Combat Log while you're at it, and clear out some of the Bugs (don't have to get them all, of course!) so you can stop the Rollback.
If you see anything else strange while you're in there, I wouldn't worry about it really. Now clock in and get to it!
Arc # 50318 - One mission, any level, soloable on several of my toons but a group makes it Extra Fun, feedback on customs' difficulty greatly appreciated.
