I'll have to disagree
Corruptors have way more damage potential then defenders.
Would be fun if defenders could dish out more of it. 
I mean as a main healer, not just damage or solo. I think thermal, if made a primary, would be better than most other healing and res sets.
I want Thermal Radiation, but not for the healing. I want it for the SHields and the debuffs mainly. I cannot get into Thermal Radiation for a Curroptor knowing the debuffs come so late, in compairison.

Thermal is a hybrid set. At one point it was the closest thing the villains had to Empathy, and was regarded as the villain 'healer' set...but obviously that's changed with the advent of Pain Domination. And of course Controllers have it on blueside these days.
This means that we can better appreciate Thermal for what it is. It ain't a healer set. It's a hybrid set.
Pain and Empathy can heal better. They have better utility buffs.
But Thermal has reasonably comparable healing capacity, mez protection and one utility buff...and shields.
And two pretty good debuffs.
There are better heal sets. There are better buff sets. There are better debuff sets. What Thermal offers is a mix of everything.
Would I, personally, play a Thermal? No. But I agree, it's awesome.

Defenders should definitely get thermal. I wouldn't play one, but I'm not a big fan of defenders in any flavor. But I am a fan of proliferation. I'd like to see ALL the proliferation done.

While I'm not opposed to having Thermal Radiation as a Defender primary, this is a terrible reason for it.
First off, it suggests a really poor understanding of a Defender's role and of the game in general (a "main healer" isn't remotely necessary in this game and focusing on that to the exclusion of all else is more wasteful than helpful since the same contribution can be made and then some by a player using both his primary and secondary powersets).
Second, this suggests a really poor understanding of Thermal Radiation, as it's a toolbox powerset of buffs, debuffs and healing powers. If someone were to attempt to make a 'main healer' character, they wouldn't need Thermal to do it. People have been mangling Empathy in this way for a while now.
If you want to play support, more power to you, but the sooner you understand the complex mix of buffs, debuffs, control, healing and/or attacks that any decent support character brings to the table in this game, the better.

Let's be fair. He said 'main healer', and I agree, that's the wrong terminology to use in this game.
But he did mention 'res sets', which indicates he's at least thinking about the buffing capability.
Thermal isn't a heal set. It isn't. If we're talking straight healing, it's behind Empathy/Pain Domination. Thermal is inferior in terms of utility buffs. In terms of shields, well, Sonic does a better job than Thermal. Thermal doesn't debuff as well as Dark, Ice, or Rad.
But Thermal has a bit of everything. It's good not because it shines in any one area, but because it's a jack of all trades. Thinking that Thermal is 'ZOMG BEST HEALER' is missing the point.

Greetings Heroes and Villians of the world! I would like to know how many of you would use Thermal Rad as a primary?
After playing a fire/thermal corruptor I started thinking how great it would be to play it reversed as a defender!
Imagine a Thermal/Fire defender!
Who else thinks this could rock???
