Dm/inv viable in PvP
It's mostly the "DM" side of this coin that's going to hurt you pretty badly in pvp. It's damage is so much lower than all other primaries in pvp that it might make you cry. Sad, but true. However, if you really really must play your DM in pvp, then dmg proc up like crazy, as they really do help to "increase" the damage which DM can put out in pvp.
Anyways, it'll be an uphill battle, but if you really want to do it, DM can be made at least acceptable, especially if you can get your secondary setup well.

Had the desire to roll a Dm/Inv tonight. He will be mainly for pve, but since one of the badges for an accolade requires spending a few hours in a pvp zone, I figure I may as well enjoy some pvp as well. Any suggestions as to what powers to skip, what bonusi to shoot for? Should I reroll as a WP?

You will, at least, be a survivable brute. As mentioned, the new calculations with animation time reduced the damage of many of DM/ attacks so much so that they're actually kind of meager.
However, the level of mixed mitigation you'll be getting with a blend of heals, resistance, -tohit, and defense, means the DR curve won't hit you as hard as it may others. I wouldn't really skip any power, except maybe shadow paunch, taunt, or shadow maul, But shadow maul's HUGE animation time also means its damage is actually the highest in the set (IIRC). It's just silly.
For sets, I'd aim for extra +def, +rech, and +accuracy, and +damage

Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?
Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?
