i tried reseting the windows in the options menu but tit didnt work.

Log in with another character that has it set up correctly.
Once you have your chat window set the way you want it (or create a new character which will have the defaults set-up), you can save it to be your default using Menu > Options > General Tab, and near the bottom there is a "Chat settings File" section with buttons to save/load the chat settings.
Hit the "Save to default file" button.
Then log in with the character missing the General tab, and hit the "Load from Default file" button.
The slash commands to do the same thing would be :
/chat_save [Saves a list of chat settings to COH_INSTALL_DIRECTORY\chat.txt]
/chat_load [Reads a list of chat settings from COH_INSTALL_DIRECTORY\chat.txt]
/chat_save_file filename [Saves a list of chat settings to a file named "filename"]
/chat_load_file filename [Reads a list of chat settings from a file named "filename"]

Keep in mind that you can customize or make new chat tabs from scratch. Simply right-click on your chat window and select "Add tab" or "Edit tab" and proceed to add or remove the channels you want that tab to display. You can have up to ten chat tabs spread across up to five {main plus four} chat windows, each of those being splittable down a horizontal line.

[/ QUOTE ] I just want to clarify that you can belong to up to 10 Global channels, but you can certainly have way more than 10 customized chat tabs on your interface.

Unless they snuck in a change.. not much more. There is a limit, and I know I was hitting it before we got more global channels.
