Is this some sort of elaborate ploy to get you more free art?

Kidding.

[/ QUOTE ]

Surely an unintentional side-effect

lol ok I got to apologize for all the confusion. I was pretty tired and shouldn't have responded until i had a clearer head. 2 things that i have yet to make clear because of my own stupidity and how it reads is:

The option to use forum characters or not is open this month. Though you don'r have to. I need to change that now. It reads like it is a prerequisite. It's not.

The color rule still applies. Though a black and white piece technically counts for a classic recreation, adding one color to that would be sufficient.

I'll edit the Op to try and be more clear guys. Just goes to show how powerful language is huh? :P

Oh and just to clarify, it's totally not a plot to get more TA artz

This is what came to mind when I read Classic Art.

I don't think there is s specific era that TA had in mind or genre. But that painting/print/velvet embroilment is considered a classic in my books!

**edit** sketch book that is.

I'm stoked for this. I just found out another art contest I've entered has a similar theme for this month... I might just be able to kill two birds with one piece of art this month.

Tsk Tsk. You guys are making me look like I have nothing else going on! And TA...making me use color! Ah well, color it is.

Son of Man Ala John Printemps.

Original by Rene Magritte

Copying the Description from the DA Side:

My choice: "Son of Man" by René Magritte. The painting is a "self portrait", so keeping in line with that theme I placed my own character/proxy representation in its place (John Printemps).

The original depicts Magritte in front of an ocean of storm clouds with the Apple of Eden hanging obtrusively in front of his face. Modernizing a bit to the course of super powered beings, placing John in front of the "Storm of the City".

Of course, its one of my favorite paintings

Every time I see that painting, The Thomas Crown Affair comes to mind.

VERY nice! ("Magritte! cool! I should have thought of that, too!")

Very clean and crisp piece there, John_Printemps! Very nice indeed!

I once did a quick sketch version of this painting, except the figure was JFK and the apple was a bullet.

...I was a weird kid.

You definitely captured the "What? You're doing... huh? Oh fine, whatever" look Adam has in the original. Even with a visor and hood! That's impressive ^.^
