I'm on a 24" iMac - 2.4ghz intel core duo with 2gb ram

As soon as I get in the login screen I can type my account name and password but it seems like all the interface buttons and even the toggle to remember account name are unresponsive and the game just stalls with the background music looping.

I just downloaded the 14 day trial today and I verified the game files. Any suggestions?

Do you have 3rd party RAM installed or is it all from Apple? Are you using 10.4 or 10.5? Does anything besides CoH freeze occasionally? Which video does your Mac have (ATI, Nvidia?)

Try disconnecting all USB and Firewire devices (except the mouse and keyboard obviously) before launching.

If that doesn't work run Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities) and Repair Permissions and Verify Disk, and if there are errors boot from the original disk that came with the computer and run Repair Disk from the installer (it's in a menu called Utilities at the top I believe).

That should cover the basics. After that it comes down to troubleshooting if you have anything installed/running that might be interfering, if MacOS X has been altered or damaged, or if your internet connection has problems.

Sometimes, if the resolution of the game doesn't match your screen resolution (and on a fresh install, game resolution is 800x600) the clicks don't take place where the mouse is. Easy solution--press command-return which shifts you into windowed mode, where window size is game resolution. Click, go into settings to change game resolution settings, shut down game IMMEDIATELY, and relaunch, see if that resolves it.

So far, so good.

Now this might seem ridiculous but since I don't have any documentation for this game and I don't see a settings/preferences tab that I can get to, I have no idea how to change the settings.

I've logged in, but can't find a menu.

Never mind - a couple of overlapping boxes hid the Menu option - once I was in there I was able to set the resolution.
