sequencing of objectives
Presently you can't. You have to delete everything after and redo them.

Once you have your different objectives set, you can use the Completion of those objectives as triggers for another event or objective.
I don't recall the exact title of the section, but it's easy to see it if you start with your second or third objective and start looking at all of the settings boxes and drop downs.
At least I think that is what you are asking for.
It really doesn't matter what order you create the objectives in, it matters on where on the map it is placed and what triggers, if any, are set.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Unless they've fixed it, it does. Tons of people getting those "objective loop" errors when they don't put them in the right order.

Odd. I haven't run into that and I put my objectives in rather willy nilly in at least one mission.
Is it possible that the Objective Loop is caused by setting the triggers into a loop accidentally? That would seem to make more sense to me.
Anyway, I'll take back my comment until it can be confirmed to be correct. If it turns out I'm wrong, I'll make my apology now.

Well, all I can say is that people have reported several times (and I've experienced it myself) where they have the objectives properly in line, but it still gives the error, and putting them in the right order fixed it. It may be just coincidence, but it's a funny one if it is. Possibly it's only when certain objectives are involved, I don't know.
I haven't tested this since the last patch, though, since I've just been habitually putting them in "the right order" since.

Decorum is right. The triggers do not really determine the sequencing of the objectives rather the order of the objectives as they appear in the mish does. Suppose I want to add a patrol at the start of the mish without any triggering, but if its going to appear at the bottom of the other objectives, regardless of any trigger ordering in the mish, the patrol will appear at the end of the mish rather than at the beginning the way I want it to be.

This is not exactly true, afaik -- it may appear somewhat randomly somewhere in the mission, but not necessarily at its end.

You can edit the .storyarc file by hand in WordPad to avoid having to delete everything. It's pretty straightforward to do, but back it up first and be careful with cut-pasting anyway.

True. I just realized that when I was reading it in another thread. D'OH moment for me, as I've actually done that.

I recommend using Subversion and a suitable Subversion client program to guarantee that if you made a mistake, you can always compare the current file to its previous version and revert to it if need be. That way, you also don't have to create backup files of anything, Subversion does it for you.
I use Visual SVN as a Subversion server (for Windows) and Tortoise as the Subversion client program because the installation and integration are easy and streamlined.

Ok I know changing of mishes order in an arc is simple, by dragging and dropping that book icon, but how do we change the order or sequencing of objectives or goals in a particular mish? Lets say I want to add a partol in the middle of the mish, but when I do it, it adds to the end of the mish. How do I do it? Thanks.
