How will I14 affect machinima?

It occurs to me that the build your own nature of I14 might make producing a short film a bit easier. Not having tried it out yet, I'd like to get the opinion of others on this. Do you think it will bea easier, herder, about the same, more trouble than it's worth? What do you think?

It may or may not make it easier. I don't know. I haven't made any machinima or fan videos yet because I don't have the software/hardware to record COH footage. Once I get that and some more RAM, I might start experimenting with movies.

Custom baddies doing attacks. That's about half of my videos right there.

The other half being custom baddies doing emotes. Videos will be SO much easier. For me at least.

It opens up a whole new level of recording without demo-editing.
Which is berry, berry good.

Should make it easier for those not into demo editing.

Unfortunately, it means no more videos, because all the people that normally make videos will be making mission arcs instead. At least until they hit the mission arc cap. (I think Dark Respite may have already done that. )

Nonsense. I plan on making 100 videos and as many missions as I can and 50 short stories and ....sorry too much caffeine in the mix today.
Actually I'm probably going to try and get some of these half finished vids done before I get to MA. That should let the initial rush die down a bit.
I like the thought that this will be a boon to those <like myself> that are not that patient with demo editing. If nothing else it might let me get the scenery I want without needing to find the correct mission map or city location or waiting for people to get out of the way of the shot <can't you see I'm filming here?!> Heh. We'll just have to see.

Some stories are told best via video so I doubt this will stop us. It will just give us a bigger playing field.

D_R had hit her stories cap until her Dev's Choice mission got borked and she's no longer allowed to edit it. I could probably republish "Hell Hath No Fury...", but I've been too busy using the MA to film my 5th anniversary commemorative video.

I hope to God the MA spurs more people into doing real, honest-to-God machinima for CoH and not just "how fast can we do the ITF?"

well assuming I continue making comics, the MA will be a huge boon to me. In the past when I needed certain setting I had to beg, nag, pled, bribe, and just about any other form of bartering you can think of to find people who had missions with maps that filled my need. Now, I can just make the mission, pick the map, 1 low level LT for a boss fight, clear out the map and grab the BG-shots I need. Done.

nope, you're not alone.

One of my multitude of tentative projects is to actually do every TF in the game and set them to music. (Something to help give the flavour of each TF.) The rest of the Star Patrol (our SG on Justice) and the Nova Dominion (our VG on Justice) would probably be in on it.

But the sheer amount of PLAYING time required would be staggering.

Well, I'm no movie maker (until i find out what i like in this world). But I've been testing out the MA for a while now... never published anything yet cuz I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to showing your work to other people.

I know however, that the ability to make your own villain group will make lots of stories. (like how i made an all martial arts villain group, dang they hurt).

You can not create your own maps (last i checked) however. But you can go to the 'special' maps. Like the Freakshow map with all the party stuff. So if you make a small video about a hero busting up some new freakshow boss during his inauguration of some sort, then I'd go ahead and use that map if I were you.

I can make good stories (so I have been told) but I cannot however make CoH movies. Mostly cuz I have a, "Fear of commitment", of the sorts.
