Need Help Roleplaying Cabal

Alright Seems I can't find much Info on the Cabal. My new character is an Initiate Cabal that left the group with her sister to find more powerful magic.

What ever Ideas Pointers and information about Cabal would be helpful. From what I figure out the Cabal can live centuries and are utterly implacable, fixed, single-mindedly in their quest to exterminate the Red Caps. My guess the Red caps caused the deaths of the Men. But in my character case she grown tired of fighting the Red caps at least for now and seeking more Power maybe seeking a new way to fight them.

So any ideas would be helpful.

Ahem: ***SPOILERS***

...that enough space? Hmm, probably not...

There.

The main issue here is simple: Cabal are not human.

All of the Croatoa enemies are not human in any way. Four of them - all but the Red Caps - were once human, but no longer all. And for all but the spirits, the change from being human is ancient history. The Cabal is actually the youngest, only being something like... 200 years old or so.

The only reason any of these factions can manifest in Croatoa is because of an event (I think it was caused by the Banished Pantheon, again...) that has made Salamanca as much a part of the spirit realm as it is part of the 'real' world.

For this character concept to work, you need to answer how she is able to leave Croatoa in the first place. Remember, it's not getting more real as time goes by... if anything, it's slipping further into the spirit realm.

As for role-playing Cabal... they are a true manifestation of the 'women scorned.' These were once colonial-age women, wives and daughters. Then Red Caps showed up and slaughtered their men and children, and dragged them into the spirit realm, where they've mostly lost their humanity. Katie is the youngest, and the only one not consumed by their absolute hatred for the Red Caps. (At least, by canon. For your purposes, we'll ignore that last point. ^_^)

Nonetheless... Cabal are bitter, angry women, who will do anything to see the Red Caps destroyed. They've mostly lost their empathy, or to appreciate the effect their actions have on others. The younger ones are also... (ahem) frustrated with their eternal single status, and don't seem to be inclined to take 'No' for an answer when they see a guy that catches their eye.

Tragically, the very hatred they have for the Red Caps only serve to strengthen the evil things. They, like the Fir Bolg and Tuatha de Dannan before them, are now simply pawns to the Red Caps, giving them power, and unable to even realize this.

This help any?

Hmm well there is a slight problem and that Cabal do show up outside of Croatoa in the Pocket D. Now yeah Pocke D has it own rules but exposure to the Pocket could be said to effect a Cabal and alow them to leave.

So my character could leave the place. Now as for driven to fight the Red Caps well that works to my character wants to gain more power so leaving to learn more magic could be a way to gain the might to distroy them.

Meh, it's Comic Book World. Every rule can be broken, and often is repeatedly and in numerous fanciful ways. It could be as simple as a ring or similar trinket that's enchanted to solidify the corporeal state of the Cabalist's existence. Heck, for reference, take a look at Amy's Ward, a power that enables you to summon the Cabalist, Amy Jonsson, to your aid for a limited period of time anywhere in the game where the Temporary Power is allowed (which, suprise-surprise, includes most of the game world).

Also, Rebel, you've gotta do the Croatoa arcs and really read into what the characters are saying because nobody can simply spell it out for you (except maybe Katie Hannon, herself, because her heart remains pure somehow and she may have done enough study into the situation). They all tell you how things are from their point of view, and even when you've finished their arcs, they still lack all of the answers. Even when you've done all of the arcs and helped protect the city from being fully consumed, you learn you didn't actually CHANGE anything and that something else is still keeping the town in its ethereally damaged state.

Then begins the Katie Hannon TF, but all she can offer is that she's the last of the Hope for the Cabal.

Also... For one of the Halloween events, the Devs included an introduction where Mary MacComber and Azuria explained the upcoming Halloween invasions that were going to tear across the cities. I can't recall which one or bring up a source (because my Search-fu sucks and I can't find the "newspaper" article they'd published with the announcement), but Mary starts giving a diatribe about various "exotic" (disgusting) ingredients necessary for her work and Azuria has to interrupt her to get on with the press conference. The related issue about this press conference, though, is that it had occurred in Atlas Park and not in Salamanca/Croatoa. I think Azuria explained how Mary was there, but I can't remember what it was... It could have been a simple explanation of "an enchantment."

I've done the arcs heaps of times, but I kinda got the idea that the whole 'part of Croatoa' thing only applies to the Tautha and the Fir Bolg. Gotta read closer I guess?

Edit: also the two witches in question are currently in the service of a Circle of Thorns guy, loads of potential there for how they can leave Croatoa.

Okay, a good deal of this is put together from the dialogue associated with the missions in Croatoa. And not just the story arcs, either.

The Banished Pantheon reference comes from Kelly Nemmers's debriefing in her only non-arc mission. She mentions that the Banished Pantheon performed a ritual that brought the Fir Bolg to Salamanca, and that the other factions followed.

That Salamanca is being drawn into Croatoa, and vise versa, is revealed early in the Croatoa arcs.

Much of the details about the Cabal are found in the Katie Hammon TF. (Although I was off... the Cabal have been around since the early 16th century, not the 18th, as I thought. Placing them at being 400-500 years.)

The exact series of events is that, the Cabal were once the women of an unremarkable colonial town. Until the day that the Fir Bolg escaped the spirit world. Although wary of these strange creatures, the community decided to welcome them as neighbors. Unfortunately, the Red Caps were not going to just let the Fir Bolg go, and not only dragged the Fir Bolg back to the spirit world, but the humans that aided them.

Once in the spirit realm, the Red Caps slaughtered all the men, but the women escaped. They established the Cabal, vowing to utterly destroy the Red Caps.

The thing is, Red Caps are creatures that feed on hatred and misery... the kind generated by the eternal war between the Fir Bolg and the Tuatha... and the kind generated by the unwavering desire for revenge the Cabal focus on them.

Oh, and the thing about the younger ones looking for men... well, you can often find a spawn of two Cabal Minions cornering a man in Salamanca proper...

I can't personally recall ever seeing Cabal in Pocket D... but that doesn't mean I'm right. I've never seen Skulls there, either. Well, if any of the factions could leave Croatoa through normal means, it would be the Cabal...

Any other questions?

Considering the fact that the younger Cabalists are actually pretty damn hot, I always feel a little jealous of those guys...

So far my idea still works. The CoT member gave them both magic crystals that they can use to comunicate but can also say keep them there.

The two are young members of the Cabal not the big time witches so they be Men Hunting. lol that what I used in the first place in the story.

So reasons to leave one Seeking men to um.. party with, Seeking more powerful Magic for there own use or to use against the Red Caps, and just bordom after fighting the Reds for 500 years or so.

What always amuses me is how the guys thank you for saving them from those dangerous, beautiful women ...

Something else to consider about the Cabal ...

There are times when they display signs of compassion and regret.

In one of the early missions where they are torturing ghosts you hear some of them expressing regret for what they're doing.

Also, I think the bio information of one of the bosses say something to the effect that they do feel compassion for humanity ...

I like the first two, but the third doesn't seem to make much sense given what others have posted. Besides, those two on their own are reason enough.

And now with their backstory and stuff all well defined, how does one go about RPing them ingame? As in how do they speak and act, are there common things they wouldn't know, etc.

Edit: the Sorceress of the Winds bosses are the ones BB is talking about. Their ingame description:
[ QUOTE ]
Most Cabal Sorceresses have becomed quite hardened over the years. Most are utterly implacable, fixed, single-mindedly in their quest to exterminate the Red Caps. Still, some Salamancans have reported seeing a look of pity in the eyes of the sorceresses. It could be that there is some spark of humanity left in them.

[/ QUOTE ]

EditEdit: And the mission dialog (From the 'investigate the warehouse' mission given by Gordon Bower, said by random spawns):
[ QUOTE ]
Cabal Minion 1: We must plumb these poor creatures for their secrets
Cabal Minion 2: A pity. But it will get us closer to our goal.

True I was just running of ideas the third isn't so much. Desire for more powerful magic and new... Entertament would be enough reason to leave.

as for talk I would expect they would see the world very strange from what they remembered so be explorative trying to figure things out.

I would try to use colonial terms but given the game Cabal don't I don't see the point.
