"Is it Miss or Mrs. Troy? I never could get Danny to talk much about anyone except his Uncle E. And yes, I was talking about Blyde, ma'am. I retired last year, though. I taught, History, mostly Greek Mythology, some English that I subbed for, and even a course of self-defense and Boxing." Sam spoke, the joy still evident in his voice. "South, you say? Well, what luck! I am going South. I live a few blocks away from where Positron stands. We greet each other everyday." He said, smiling as he began walking down the street, anyone wishing to follow him would be behind him as well.

"Don't tell her that!" Kia exclaimed with warding hands to the peacebringer, Sarah already wearing a goofy smile and staring off into space - but only for a moment. Then she let out a giggle, which earned her crossed arms, a huff, and a glare at the fake-out.
"Oh relax, will you?" she nudged Kia in the ribs, straightening the strap of the large blue bag on her back. Apparently, the thing had shifted when the seeming had worn off, but a quick relocation and curt flap of wings did the trick there.
The two then started to walk as well, following the offering Sam, the Tornado apparently most interested at the mention of Positron, stepping to keep pace beside the man and wanting to know, "Every day, huh? Any chance you could convince him to let me take a look at that armor of his? By the way, uh, what's your name?"
"Here we go again." Kia couldn't help but sigh, calling herself fool for actually believing that her friend would leave it at the stated 'just wanting to see' the inventor-gone-hero. Then again, considering Sarah was...well, Sarah, she supposed that one had been inevitable.
She thus turned to the Kheldian, "I guess if we're at it, what's your name? And...are you human, or something else...?"

Eileen Troy arched an eyebrow at Sam. "I'll have to have a word or two with that boy when I get home... his family does have more members in it than just my little brother. And it's Mrs., thanks, although you're more than welcome to call me Eileen." she finished, striding along slightly ahead of Sam.
She inclined her head to the two draconic ladies. "My building is near the South end, not far from the University. I can show you where it is, although I'm not sure as to the quality of their biomechanics labs... from what I've heard, a lot of the funding goes to the new technomancy labs, much to the annoyance of some of the professors, who simply won't shut up about it. And it's nice to meet you, Sarah, Kia."
Eileen Troy glanced over at Akemi, next. "You're going to have to speak up a little, dear. I'm sure I heard you say something, but I couldn't begin to guess what it was." Then she chuckled a little at the Peacebringer's comment.
"I suppose there are some advantages to being able to warp time and space to your whim. Myself, I've found a good stern talking to... and possibly a purse to the side of the head... usually does the trick." She shrugged and strode onwards, blithely ignoring... or at least appearing to ignore... the various hazards that Paragon presented.

"You mean, he just stands in one spot every day? But Positron's a hero, isn't he? Shouldn't he, like, be fighting villains or something instead of just standing there all the time?" Akemi turned to Sam again, a confused expression on her face as she quickened her stride slightly to keep up with her taller companions. "I thought heroes were supposed to protect the city, not act like decorations for it...OUCH!" Suddenly, she tripped. As soon as she landed, she scrambled for the items which had fallen out of her backpack-two identical sais, flashing brilliantly in the sun-and stuffed them back into the bag. "Uh, sorry...I'm such a klutz...first I ruin Mr. Winston's groceries, and then I trip and get in everyone's way...sorry!" She climbed back to her feet, slightly unsteady, and adjusted her backpack straps, blushing red.

She thus turned to the Kheldian, "I guess if we're at it, what's your name? And...are you human, or something else...?"
[/ QUOTE ]
"Paxtera", the Kheldian replied simply. "And... sort of. What I am is a Peacebringer, created from the merging of a Kheldian energy being with a human host. Perfectly willing on both sides, I assure you. So yeah, I'm human but also an alien at the same time, depending on how one looks at it. And then there's all that tiem travel stuff but that's seperate, as well as being a very long story."

"Yeah well the boot to the face or the punch in the gut are always the less extreme options, but I was never one to be worried about overkill. Though, I've never actually done that to anyone. Always, the mere threat of doing it seems to be enough. Well, except for the ones who are powerful enough that you can't actually put them in stasis to begin with, but that's another story altogether."
She stopped as Akemi tripped over in front of her, raising an eyebrow as she noted the sais but refraining from saying anything. Wasn't her business what the girl was carrying in her bag, only became her business if they were put to use in an illegal fashion. And somehow, Pax didn't think Akemi was the type to do something like that.

"Oh." Kia remarked with a knowing nod, "So you're kind of like Billy and Joy. Okay, makes sense. The glowing eyes do anyth-?"
She too stopped when Akemi tripped, though unlike Paxtera, got pretty wide eyes when she saw the sais. Sarah was surprised as well, though she reacted more with curiosity than shock.
"Um...it's okay." the Tornado told the girl as they kept walking, not quite sure why she was feeling so embarrassed, giving the bag over her own shoulder a tug with a smile, "Happens to everyone. You wouldn't believe how many times I smacked into something thanks to this. Though...why are you carrying an arsenal like that...?"

Sam almost barked with laughter when Akemi fell. It wasn't the fal that was funny, but the weapons falling from her pack. He grinned and turned to the rest of the group, still walking "Okay, so, Am I the only one here who doesn't qualify as some type of hero?" The former teacher stopped in front of a house that seemed large, if plain. "Welcome to my humble abode"
Winston walked in and sat the groceries on the table, then found an empty clean milk container. "You all can sit, if you want. The couches are big enough" Indeed, in the front room were two rather large, couches with enough room to sit three or maybe four people on. "I'll be a moment. Make yourselves at home."

Akemi shrugged, a tiny embarrassed smile on her face. "It's not really an arsenal, really...I mean, there's only the two of them..."

"Okay, so, Am I the only one here who doesn't qualify as some type of hero?"

"I'm not!" Akemi quickly answered. "A hero, I mean. I'm a...I guess a sort of hero in training, you could say...I mean, I want to be a hero someday...eventually..." She let the end of her sentence trail off as they entered Sam's house. "You have a very nice house, Mr. Winston. It's very homey." she said politely as she took a seat on one of the couches. She slid her backpack off and placed it on her lap, crossing her arms over it to make sure it would stay in easy reach.
Kia and Sarah didn't really know what to do with that answer, so they just let it be.
"Hero?" the Tornado questioned with a gentle smile as they arrived in front of the house, "Oh no, you've got us all wrong. We're no different from you. I'm just a part-time lab technician."
The mountain dragon didn't add anything to that reference. Apparently, she didn't want to go into what she did for a living, instead following the manner of Akemi and finding a place on a couch - after putting down her own pack, of course.
"Mhm." Kia added to the purple-haired girl's opinion, "Kind of big, though. You don't live here all alone, do you?"
Sarah meanwhile searched for a place to put down her own bag, wanting to at least get the large cylindrical thing out of the general way of people. Eventually she found a spot against a wall that seemed suitable, but when she set the thing on the floor and began to lean it against that wall, a sudden shout echoed from the pocket that she'd wedged up against the solid surface.
"Heeeey!" a light, though decidedly male voice cried out from the bag, hastily prompting the surprised Tornado to pull it back upright.
"Sorry, Johnny." she quickly apologized, a worried look on her face, "Forgot you were in there..."

"I assure you, Mr. Winston, that I'm a hero only by relation." Eileen commented drily. If she was surprised by the impromptu home visit, she didn't show it, merely bending over to help Sam put away his groceries. She glanced at her watch. "Let's see... Danny is staying late today, some kind of training at Golden Eagle, and Ben and Jeremy won't be finished school for another hour. Should have some time."
She raised an eyebrow at Akemi from where she was stashing some cans in a cupboard that appeared to contain more of the same. "If you're as much of a klutz as you claim, are you sure that hero-ing while waving sharp objects is your best option? Surely there are other ways to do it?" Then she straightened and pursed her lips.
"As to Positron, he's still an active member of the Freedom Phalanx, but all of the Surviving Eight are active in various parts of the city, either dispensing advice and training, or giving information- every one of them has their own sub-network of heroes that sometimes do legwork for them. Their 'posts' around the city are a sort of outdoor office. So they're almost always there at the same time every day. Really, dear, you need to pay more attention as a hero-in-training."
Her tone was gentle, but the warning was real; she had seen too many children get hurt because they were 'training' and didn't go about it the right way, thus her keen interest in the exact mechanics of her own son's training and the heroic subculture of Paragon City.
With that thought, she frowned slightly. "Paxtera, Paxtera... hmm. Doesn't ring any..." then she snapped her fingers. "Of course. Peacebringers tend to work more with E.L.I.T.E.... unfortunately, I'm not as familiar with that branch, Danny and Energon X- my brother- work more with D.A.T.A. and S.E.R.A.P.H., respectively. Probably why I haven't heard of you." she finished, shrugging slightly.
Then Sarah's bag started talking, and even the normally unflappable Eileen Troy blinked, looking a bit taken aback. "Is it normal for you to haul people around in bags?" she asked, sounding a bit dubious.

Pax plopped herself down on the end of one of the couches, smiling as Akemi voiced her desire to one day be a real hero. "You will be, eventually", she murmurer, just barely loud enough for the girl in question to hear her. From her tone, it was clear that she honestly believed it to be true.
"And I'd imagine part of why you haven't heard of me would be that, assuming I'm right about which year this is, I disappeared without a trace some six months or so ago", she informed Mrs. Troy. "Very long story", she added, apparently not willing to go further than that unless pushed. Fortunately, Sarah's talking bag provided a convenient distraction. "Might want to let the guy out, he probably needs some air", she suggested.

"Kind of." Sarah returned with a somewhat ebarrassed shrug of her shoulders while she zipped open the pocket she'd accidentally leaned the heavy bag against, "We tried the hem of my shirt a while back, but he tried to get into my bra and..."
"Hey, I told you, I slipped." huffed back the little green dragon that now climbed out of said pocket, looking utterly flustered. He couldn't have been more than eight centimeters tall, but he was without a doubt fully grown, looking very much like the other two dragons in relative proportion.
Like the Tornado, he had but a single short horn on his nose, though he didn't have any hair, head instead decorated with a jet-black comb of razor-like growths that ran all the way back down his neck and tail, nearly to the bright-red deltoid at its tip, as well as presumably down the back under the likewise black T-shirt he wore with a pair of blue jeans and a pair of average-looking shoes...if they hadn't all been to tiny.
His wings, on the other hand, were quite different indeed, folded away behind his arms like those of a bat rather than separate appendages. In fact, compacted as they were now, they didn't look much like wings at all, and if it hadn't been for the slim slits of yellow wing skin that peeked out every now and then as he moved, most observers would've called him wingless.
"I'm not used to T-shirts, you know." he grumbled to the smiling Sarah, then hopped onto the floor and raised a hand to perform a single wave to the others, "Hi. Don't believe everything these two tell you. I'm really an okay guy."
"Says you." the Tornado picked the little dragon up by letting him walk onto and sit on a flat palm, then carefully transferred him to the coffee table between the couches.
"So with a name like that, I'm guessing your brother's a superhero too?" Kia meanwhile wanted to know of Eileen, "And your son's one too? Wow...I think I have to join Mr. Winston there. I can't imagine having so many around. Back where we live, we've only got one."
Whom they all knew and Sarah had a relationship with, but she wasn't about to just blurt that one out...

Sam eyed the dragon out of the corner of his eyes. "Thank you, Akemi. Yes. I do live here by myself. It wasn't always like that though..." the man said, his voice trailing off. He shook his head as he finished putting away the groceries with Eileen's help. He gave her a glance and a smile, "With all do respect Ma'am, the way you can put people in their place is amazing. I wish I could of done that when I had students. Speaking of, I mainly just wanted to ask you how Danny was doing. He's a smart kid, as you probably realize. I always enjoyed him in my classes." the older man sighed as he walked to the front room and took a seat in the empty chair seated in between the couchs. He had brought out a tray full of cups with various liquids, many identifiable as soda and some as water. He sat it on the table where everyone could easily reach it.
He laughed at the antics of the little dragon called Johnny. "I'm sure your fine or else I doubt these two would haul you around. And I do believe the heroes are here. I'm, honestly, thankful so many have decided to help the people here. I've just always felt like if they just had more time, then, I don't know, maybe most of these thugs, zombies and cultists would just be gone. I suppose though, that's wishfull thinking. The thugs and things leaving, I mean. Nothing the heroes can do except what they always do. Be heroes. All I could do was teach. Ah, I'm ranting. Sarah, was it? Who is your lone hero? Would we know him?"

Pax wondered in passing why an apparently reptillian species would have breasts to begin with, but dismissed it as a peculiarity of alien evolution - or a slightly cracked god, depending on which theory one subscribed to. "Even alien men still only think of one thing", she mused to herself as she watched them. "Why're you so small?", she asked of the tiny one after Sarah set him down on the coffee table.

"Bet you've got way less bad guys though", Pax commented. That always seemed to even itself out, with there being more villains in a place with many heroes than there were in a place with few. She'd never really figured out why.

"Oh, thank you." the mountain dragon said to Sam, picking up a cup of water, and with a shake of her head and other hand went on, "But I didn't mean like that. I meant I can't imagine living with this many superheroes around, not that I don't believe they are. It's like...well, it's the same thing with so many humans having cars...and that they have wheels. That took me a while to get used to."
"Speak for yourself." Sarah remarked, sitting down again, "I still haven't."
"You will." the little dragon on the table walked between the assembled cups with what seemed to be great curiosity at the bubbly liquids in some of them, "And I'm not an alien. I'm right here from Earth, just like those two. And I'm not tiny. You're all just giant."
The light smirk that accompanied this declaration was a clear indicator: for him, his size was perfectly natural, just like a human was the size of a human, "Okay, I know what you mean. I'm from Isahbalan is all. Everyone there's my size. Oh, where are my manners today?"
He performed a curt bow in the humans' general direction, one hand held flat before the bottom of his ribcage, "John Greenwood, master thief. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
"Oh don't be so braggy." Kia retorted at this, "You haven't stolen anything in months."
"That's what you think." Johnny only shot her back an evil grin, which in turn gave her face an 'uh-oh' expression, and of course caused Sarah to snicker as she too reached for a cup of water.
"You'd think so, wouldn't you?" she answered Pax's second question with a touch of melancholy, looking into her cup with a shake of her head, "But no. They may not have super powers - except that Kain jerkwad - but that doesn't make them any better. Always trying to prey on other people, get ahead by abusing others. Even with...the Protector, it's hard, especially with the racists..."

"Danny's doing about as well as usual... his most current conceit is that the universe in general is out to get him." Mrs. Troy responded casually, snagging one of the water glasses and taking a sip. "Granted, there's some evidence for that, although just about anybody with superpowers of any sort tends to act as a lightning rod for trouble in this town."
"As to the cars... well, it's something to get used to for some of us as well... Paragon City puts even my hometown of Vancouver to shame, and we've got no shortage of cars there!" she said with a brief laugh.
She inclined her head to the smallest draconian when he bowed and bestowed on him the beatific smile of a woman who knows she has an armed mousetrap in her purse. "It's nice to meet you, John." she said smoothly. "Must be rather interesting to be wandering about in a world of giants, although I suppose being able to fly would probably help... you're Ishbalan?" she echoed, mangling the name slightly. "So has the kaiser invaded to craft the philosopher's stone yet..?"
Then she caught herself. "Never mind, comes from being married to an anime nerd." she said with a chuckle, dismissing the comment. "But the balance that always seems to exist between supers on each side is a trifle odd, aye. I'd say Kia has the right of it. though- powers have little bearing on whether or not someone is good or evil... although it certainly opens up new avenues of expression for your nature when you can toss a bus half a block."

Pax raised an eyebrow at that. As far as she knew there were no people like him or the others anywhere on Earth, or on this Earth anyway. "I'm going to take a wild guess and say you're not from this Earth, ie: you're from an alternate dimension?", she asked curiously. The other option was they were from this Earth in a different time period, but she thought an alternate dimension was more likely. "Nice to meet you anyway", she added almost absently.

There came a sudden knocking at the front door followed by a pause of about two seconds, then another bout of knocking. A very annoyed and harried looking young man, maybe late twenties or so with light brown hair and average looks, was bouncing from foot to foot with nervous energy. An expensive looking car that hadn't been there before was sitting half on and half off the sidewalk, the tires on the side facing the house very visibly deflated.
The man knocked again.
((If you say so.))
Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.
Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.
NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.
Eileen received a collective look in the manner of 'huh?' from the three, none knowing what to say to that, least of all the tiny thief. When she brushed it off however, so did they, returning to the conversation at hand.
"If." Sarah emphasized the word in Akemi's remark with a rather sly smile, taking up Paxtera's question as well with a glance to her, "What if I said we were? What if I said that far out in the ocean, a long way away from any other land mass, there's an island that's been hidden for a thousand years..."
A sudden knock at the door interrupted the Tornado, as well as Kia quietly whispering to a devilishly smirking Johnny, standing to the much larger mountain dragon with his back turned and arms crossed, just smiling up at her over his shoulder like that, teasing her by refusing to let her get out of him just what he'd allegedly stolen.
Now all three of them looked to the door, and of course out the window at the car that looked just a bit odder than they'd already seen.
"Are you expecting someone?" Kia wanted to know, none of them having any idea that a car's tires being flat wasn't the way they were supposed to be...

Why would you hide for so long, rather than being a part of the world at-" World at what, she didn't say as her attention was drawn away by a knocking at the door.
"Want me to get that?", she offered, getting up regardless and going over to pull the door open. "Did you want something?", she asked the young man standing on the doorstep.
