Looks like he has been player de-buffed.

It's too bad thr writers don't provide some fresh, new story - the contacts are based on current signature characters. It'd be nice to see them break away from this and make something new and different.
I really hope the missions are better than what we have. Most of our current missions are so repetitive it makes me puke I really hope for new tile sets, bosses that look like bosses and not just another mob member etc. I don't know how many times a mission has ended and I didn't even realize I was whooping on the boss...he/she looked just like the rest of the mob!
[/ QUOTE ]
Well Bruce did say that this was supposed to be his tutorial into the CoX mission builder, and that he was put under certain constraints....Hopefully in the future there will be new contacts and story arcs.

Another Signature Character Ripoff?
That Saddens me, Imperious and Deadalous were enough lame for the new zone.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, after all there is nothing like this in standard hero tropes is there?
Oh yeah, crisis of infinite earths, Age of Apocalypse etc etc.
Its a hero trope, just like the praetorians.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would be less bothered by it if they weren't going to be move for move, storyline for storyline rippoffs(and poorly defined) of their future selves.
Look at Imperious, an entire zone filled with Broadsword/Sheild users...and he is *another* Super Strength/Invulnerability Tank, when they could have given him a Sword, remember that one that Hero-1 Had before leaving? the one that Ms. Lib carries around, that one totally has no importance whatsoever and should be Ignored aside from one panel in the comics.
My complaint isn't about the re-use of Character concepts, its the fact that those characters are always the exact same, and the lack of variety among the "Signature" Hero Powersets in general.
Heck..look at the Sheer number of SS/Invul characters in the main two groups
Statseman(tank/Incarnate)
Babs (tank)
Black Scorpion (brute)
Lord Recluse (Brute/Incarnate) - No..he is not a mastermind, he is a Brute with a Summon Power, there is nothing in his powerset that fits the Summon/Debuff Set of a MM except him calling out Bane spiders which is close to what a brute gets in their epics
Question: Do you think there will ever be missions where all our time traveling has caused some change to the timeline? In comics there has been alot of repercussions when people alter time, IE. Days of Futures past in the X-Men, The Sphinx storyline in the New Warriors, Age of Apocalypse, etc and that's in the Marvel Universe. Will we see altered world soon as part of the ongoing Roman arc? I see Malta and 5th, this can't bode well for the modern world as we know of.

Oh I agree but most of my complaints are appearance based. Repetitive tile sets and bosses that look just like the rest of the mobs in the mission. Those are easily fixed. When I started playing I thought s named boss would look cool and different - sadly so many of them do not.
That was a big beef with the Architect - if you can't customize the mobs and boss then what is the point of making any missions. Sure you could write a very short story but the missions would look the same and you would get less rewards - no thanks!

Thus far, all of our meddling in Rome has followed more of the "it happens because that's what happened" style of time travel than the Back to the Future, "I stepped on a butterfly and my hand disappeared" style.
[ QUOTE ]
From the perspective of a player or non-player interested in possibly becoming a player that statement simply is not true. The story arcs in CoH/V do not and have never in any way shape or form evolved.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your lack of comprehension of the creative process is telling.
Novels do not "evolve" in the sense that you are seeming to want them to, either. If I read The Fountainhead back in high school, and read it again today, no one would have magically gone in and changed the plot or added/deleted scenes. If you think that's seriously what the evolution of a creative product is like, you're mistaken.
The process of creation is an evolution of ideas. What you think you're going to write changes as you write it and characters make decisions that may surprise you. An outline that you sit down with when you start to write a novel or a story arc may have nothing or everything to do with the final product, and the evolution of ideas may lead you to new ideas for new novels/arcs.
I honestly don't see how you could look at something that says, "Like writing a novel..." and get upset when existing story arcs don't change or get updated any more than your typical novel does, post-publish. The statement seemed perfectly clear to me. The verb is "writing" - that's when the evolution happens. While you write.
[ QUOTE ]
Using the exact language of that statement as written and without any further context (because there is no further context to place it in) it is an untrue statement.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is only untrue if you assume that a novel, once published, can change in meaningful ways. If you want to ignore the clear context that indicates it's about the creative process, rather than the product, that's your prerogative. As a writer, I find a great deal of truth in the statement, and have no problem with the conclusions implicit in it.

Ok so the new missions are going to be in Cim. I guess that means my Vills will have to get to lvl 35 to get in. Great. Just what we asked for....more low level Vills content LOL Wow, now I have to agree with the legions of Vills fans who keep saying we get the shaft in this game. Ah well. What can you do.

Also, why do we have to recycle everything? Why do we have to have a "Positron" and "Ghost Widow" in Cimeroa? It would be nice to just get some new characters involved in the storylines without making them just reincarnations of existing characters.

It all has something to do with the whole "Pandora's Box thing" I hope that eventually we see hope all the powers got into the box.
[/ QUOTE ]
Another tidbit I just remembered from the HeroCon panels. They had the time period. They had the zone: Cimerora. So Joe "Hero 1" Morrissey wanted write about Pandora's Box. But it got rejected. When they do bring it into the game they want it to be EPIC. It was from the Q&A period in the panel with the City of ... writers.

I have a new obsession now it seems. Ghost Sybil shall be my new master...
But I am so glad that villains get some new seperate missions. I haven't been in the crowd necessary yelling for it, but I won't deny that I did want it, just thought there was no point arguing about the inevitable watered down quasi heroish Red side. Glad I'm wrong.
Ask for the reuse of Signatures, it's not that bad a thing. These are their heroes/villains and should be reused. CoX has this cyclic system of powered individuals so it makes sense. There looks are different as is their names. If I were to grumble, it would only be to say that some temporal differences in powers would have been nice. Imperious as a Tanker with Broadsword/Shield and his Electric APP or something, little things. But I won't argue, it's time saving for the Deve and in all who cares what powers, names and looks they have, I'm not playing them.
I guess this is a good time to ask if we'll ever see a Roman Black Scorpian, Scirocco, or Mako.

I think it's interesting that they chose to put out this story with the new Mission Architect feature coming up in I14. This guy is a pro and he apparently can't write a good story arc without at least twice breaking the rules of the tutorial as set out for him and requiring new code to be written, something players using the MA won't have as an option. Does this mean that all the player created missions are going to suck or just that we are going to have to be more creative than people who get paid to do this stuff for a living and have had years of experience at it? Has a gauntlet been thrown down and, if so, who will be brave enough to take up the challenge?

A whole new meaning to the phrase 'damned with faint praise.'
*I'VE* had years of experience writing storylines and missions (as an author and a GM for roleplaying games), and I've no doubt that I'd be breaking rules too.
So, yeah - I'll pick up your gauntlet. And I expect to see you try and do better than Bruce did.
See you in Issue 14!

More like I'm starting to have second thoughts about trying the MA cause it sounds a lot harder to make something worthwhile than I ever imagined. Kudos to you if you can manage it.

Or Lord Recluse, for that matter, since Romulus is a proto-Requiem. If the Mission Architect lets me at least change the ambient lighting in existing tilesets, I've got some ideas for using some of the less common cave configurations colored all extra gloomy for some underworld adventures vs. a prior Incarnate of Tartarus.
Interestingly enough, it's reasonable to assume that a Scirocco exists during the time period without even having to resort to cyclical time tricks. Except he'd be a Heroic one, probably teamed up with the very same genie Serafina who's in the the modern setting. If the Mission Architect gives us some Cimerora tilesets (indoors and out), I may just pretend the architectural differences aren't present and use them to make some time-travelling Middle East adventures to deal with that idea too.
