Graviton Girl gift art(Not the WIP painting)
That's... really quite fun. I like the bold use of colors and the brush strokes.
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
Cute, I like the texture of it. Very neat.
It reminds me of Van Gogh, except with more happy sun and less acute depression.
I dig the bright and shiny vibe!

So... it's just another manic Van Gogh? >.> Sorry, it fit the song so well, wonder how the rest of the song would go.
That aside, I agree, it's a nice piece with a real good vibe to it. Well done.

Silence!!! I kill you!
Given that super-heroines don't grow hooves every day, I'd have to go more with Dali on an acid trip, myself.
*edit*
Since I couldn't think of any Dali's that used a similar style, I did some googling and pretty much found out that he was mainly the antithesis of that sort of look. So much for that!
I guess Van Gogh on one of his less lucid days is really what we're looking at there, but you have to wonder where his head was at to see Graviton Girl that way...
Lol, Van Gogh, Monet, Dali on an acid trip...and all I wanted to imitate was the style of a five year old child.
As for the "hooves", I sacrificed detail for movement. Or it could be that I play too many animal alts...

lol we see some of the artist greats and you intended the style of child, gotta love it.
regardless of the intent it does have a happy sunny feel good vibe to it.

Actually, Heri, that illustrates a point.
Many artists have said that they "think like a child would think" when they're in creative mode.
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
really? that's kinda interesting. I've never stopped to think that's kinda where an artist's mindset might be when they're creating whatever they are creating.
I gotta admit since my artistic skills are non/next to nil it never occurred to me about how one thinks in that mode I'd guess you'd call it.
The closest I tend to get creative is the stories and background stuff for my chars. No idea where my mind goes when I write those though, I just write out ideas as they come and hopefully they mesh with the rest. lol

As James (Comrade_Hero) has mentioned in the Satisfaction thread, he has decided to give MMOART another chance. But he so generously offered to compensate me for the piece I was working on for him as well, which effectively makes it my first commission ever!
Now the progress on that piece has been slow, because I got my copy of Corel Painter X in the mail right after I did those roughs. Although there is a lot I still haven't quite figured out yet, I am starting to get the hang of working in Painter. So I did this little piece this afternoon to show James my appreciation.
