A Lost Paradise at Sea (Open RP)
((Chaos time...))
Great, Miranda said as she rose from her chair. She turned to Danny, with a serious expression, Now remember, charm and charisma are great tools to use, especially on your enemies. No matter how much you want to banish your foe to a lifeless void of a dimension for all eternity, respect offered is respect gained. Use it and a shot at what you want might
Her words froze when she looked at Danny only to assume her words fell on deaf ears. Bah, whatever
she huffed then stretched her left palm toward Dannys face.
A symbol of light began to outline itself on the palm of her hand. When it was complete, a wind began to blow, coming from behind Danny. No, it wasnt a wind, it was a vacuum of air being pulled into her palm. It was only a split second more before Danny felt himself forcibly sucked into her hand where she quickly balled the hand into a fist, as if holding him in her clasped hand. With her other hand, she traced in the air the same symbol that was just in her palm. The light from the symbol spread, forming a circle of magical energy which she walked through and disappeared.
Another circle of energy appeared by the cage-side bar, Miranda emerging from it. The fight had already started, it appeared, so Miranda wasted no time. Time to
work some magic, the last part she said with fiercely glowing eyes and a sadistic smile. A faint blue glow enveloped her entire form and she breathed in then exhaled to prepare herself for the level of power she was about to summon. She thrust her right palm toward the cage, and a swirling vortex of energy appeared inside the cage and spat Danny out. Gate Glyph! she called, thrusting her right hand toward the cage this time. Another vortex, underneath Gunner and Silk, appeared drawing them in like quicksand. She didnt wait for them to be drawn in and simply increased the size of the portal to swallow them up instead.
Miranda turned and thrust her left hand across her right which created the exit portal outside the cage that would spew out whatever was drawn in. Now with her hands held behind her and a casual smile, Miranda spoke to the intended targets of her spell. My apologies for the intrusion. You may call me Miranda and youll be my opponents now. You dont have a problem with a friendly battle with no intents of causing death, right? Just a friendly spar. She didnt wait for an answer and quickly condensed the air in front of her, creating a thick boulder of ice at least twice her height then swung her arm at it. A single and simple symbol shot from the hand and into the ice and so the boulder shattered into sharp shards of ice and became speeding spears hurdling toward her two targets.

Lol, wut?
((No?))
((Well, if he talked it over with Cham, Spade, and Torrent, getting their permission to move their characters like this, I really don't see a problem with it. Otherwise, though...Leo, what'n blue blazes you smokin'? I want some! ))

Alternatively, confused poster is confused.))
((Edit- Also, blargh, I keep forgetting Jake.))
Taking note of the obvious signs of heat application, Jake cautiously entered the chamber, glancing around with his thermal vision and seeking any sign of life.
((I consider myself a good non-godmoder. If you really read what I wrote, I didn't move ANYTHING....besides Danny which I already talked to him a bit about it. I only stated what powers she used and what affects they could have. Even if she couldn't manage to draw her targets out of the cage, she'll still be throwing shards of ice at them.
So, what's the problem again?))
((Not to fuel an argument, but I reread it as per your request, and what I gathered from your wording was that you were pretty much giving us no choice in the matter and taking it as a given that our characters would succumb to the technique, which many people dislike. If it had been more along the lines of 'She threw her hand up, a glyph appearing in the air, and summoned a portal beneath the feet of Silk and Gunner. The portal wouldn't wait, and would attempt* to swallow them up whole, transporting them right in front of her.'
Personally, I think that would've been much better, as it doesn't assume that the character would go through.
Of course, again, that's what I got from rereading it a few times. I've been known to be thick, so correct me if Im missing something vital. >.>
*Bolded and italicized to emphasize the key-word.))
((Eh, I suppose you could read it that way. Some of the language is pretty implying, like "drawing them in" and "to swallow them up", but I can see how those can have propositional meanings as well.))

OOC:
The pantomine goose is confuzzled by the whole ordeal and wishes very much to chew on Jimmy Fargo's bones.
((Yeah, when she first creates the portal under their feet, it's implying that a portal at that angle isn't just a cartoony 'throw a black circle under them and they fall in' but a more escapeable quicksand-like effect. However, she does increase the size soon after to speed up the sinking effect. It's escapeable but not THAT escapeable. I'm trying to subdue someone here, after all.
If you reread what was after that description, it's obvious I made no assumptions that the targets, fewer of the intended targets or more targets than she had intended were drawn in. Also, when she was speaking to the targets, there was no mention if they were inside or outside the cage.
As for sprinkling implying words like 'attempt', I found if you use too many of those, everyone figures its a free pass to dodge, overpower or outright ignore the effect. I use those but try to hold them back until I know what kind of RP'ers I'm dealing with. Besides, I want to give the impression that Miranda is no joke when it comes to sorcery.))
OOC:
So lemme get this straight-
Miranda decides to go down to the cages with Danny wrapped around her fing-I mean clutched in her hand or something.
She conjures a portal that draws in the people from inside the cage to her location by the bar right outside the cage in order to force them to fight her.
She's doing this admist however many spectators, metas, and guards.
She gave Danny a huge lecture on being subtle before deciding to throw rocks at a Bullet Ant hive.
And, of course, you are doing this realizing that everybody is going to want to toss your character overboard after restraining and gagging her along with attaching a lead weight to her?
Really, Methinks it would have been heaps easier to just ASK TO JOIN IN THE FIGHT. It hadn't even started yet.
((Essentially, yeah, except she was only trying to draw out 2 of the fighters inside the cage.
As for just asking to join, I never try going about something the easy way when a possibly more fun option is available.))

OOC:
Well, I dunno. The page and a half of nothing but OOC talk doesn't seem to be much fun to me.
Besides, how is being completely random, unprovoked and deviating from both the main activity and common sense fun? Don't get me wrong-I'm all for chaos. But even the madness has a pattern to it.
((Uhm... well, if nothing else... assuming that this particular bit of chaos doesn't get retconned away, you've ensured Danny never taking Miranda seriously ever again >.>
Maybe just summarize, vote if it's kept, and move on?
Miranda has just tossed Target Lad/Danny into the cage and popped in herself.
She then tried to 'port Gunner and Silk out, and lobbed ice at them on the off chance that they didn't want to go, along with more ice being hucked at Grey and Famine.
So. Keep, yea or nay?))

a. Ports Danny into cage with the others but she's still outside
b. Tries to port Gunner and Silk out, trying to leave 2 others, 3 including Danny, inside
c. throws ice at Gunner and Silk
You can vote on it if you want but I don't see a reason for it. If Silk and Gunner don't want to be ported out, then just escape it somehow or *gasp* open the cage and walk back in. It's not like she's porting them to a far off island you know.))

OOC: And now, ya see...That's why I felt the urge to tell you that Miranda could have JUST WALKED INTO THE CAGE.
((But that isn't her style. Besides, there was an underlying tactic involved in separating those involved. To counter the whole 'whoa, why'd you do that?' I say: why not?))

To which I reply: Because it's ridiculous and also because you are trying to bake, make, have, and eat your cake all at once...twice. As well as being COMPLETELY PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE, even when using time travel. You are biting off more than you can chew, and that means you are going to CHOKE on it.
Now hence, if you can come up with a proper response to that, I will perform a heel face turn and side with you in your goal for randomness and tasty cusine.
Harry leaned back in his seat and propped his feet up on the table, sipping deeply from his drink.
"Y'know, it may scorch the palate," he said contently to himself. "But I STILL say it's dang tasty."
((Okay, last OOC only post for me: What's ridiculous? Are you implying the character I created has ridiculous levels of power? Or that her powers are downright silly? I hope it's nothing offensive. And no, I have no characters that are ridiculously powerful...not even close compared to some of the other characters I've seen RP'ed, I see no room to complain.
Everything else is just some cake metaphor unless you're commenting on her facing 2 opponents at once. It's not about fighting hard but fighting smart. Maybe I want her to use up a good chunk of her powers? Maybe I want to exhaust her? Who knows? Maybe we'd find out if we actually tried RP'ing the stuff out .))
((Meh, I say we just chalk it up to experience. Communication is good, assuming is bad. We'll just roll with what we have and try to avoid stepping on people's toes int he future.))
Obviously, the weapon-mad, brawl-yearning, sharp-shooting madman didn't realize exactly what had grabbed him at that moment, and, ergo, took it to signal the start of a fight. Materializing a guns in his left hand, he aimed it at the head of the one he assumed most likely to be responsible, that is, Grey Masque, (He had seen the weapons and obviously not arcane equipment of Famine, and the process of elimination does wonders.) and fired. Repeatedly. Without stopping. The man didn't even need to reload.
All the while, despite it possibly skewering his aim, and ergo possibly skewering his effectiveness, he had materialized yet another sword, only this time it was much thicker, and definately had more weight to it. Without hesitation or taking his eyes off of his target, he jammed the sword into the floor, pulling himself in an effort to release him from the slowing prison, all the while finding time to pop out a clever one liner.
"Ya know, it's polite to wait for the bell."
((Ok
.lets try and roll with this lovely
.thing and still have some fun. Lets not let this ruin a fun tread k everyone lets just try and roll with it))
Without even blinking Silk drew an arrow with a fine filament and fired it up at the ceiling. She pulls herself up out of the sinking hole and away from the ice skewers. She looks over at Miranda
Orchid is more than happy to set you up a battle of your own dear and something tells me she isnt that happy with what your interference
The girl with the short pixie cut behind the bar leaps over to Miranda dramatically just to stop short of her landing in a very dignified bow. Im sorry to bother you maam, but there was in fact a fight in progress, we ask that you please set up a time with designated opponents before causing so much unnecessary stir. We ask that you follow these rules at the risk of your ejection from the arena
or the boat
Sure, silk thatll make her listen says silk sarcastically still hanging from the cage ceiling. Silk rolls her eyes at the overly polite Orchid. and you little archer boy, can you please

Hey! Gunner! Can we at least wait until our uninvited guests are clear? Silk inverts herself on the filament by twisting her foot around the string and fires two more string arrows near the first one. She fashions a kind of swing-like seat for herself with the three threads and looks down at everyone
so
. looking at Miranda, Can you respect our match or does orchid need to be a bouncer AND a bartender
((Im sorry your scene of blood and chaos didnt work out exactly the way you planned Leo but would you mind pulling back a bit so we can keep the good rhythm we had before?))
"Holycrapisbeingshotteamguymatekillhimpleasegowith plan!" Grey Masque spat out right as the first bullets began to hit him. As they hit his surface in various locations of his body, a ripple effect began-his suited distorted and fluctuated where the bullets hit, some shivering so violently that they became translucent and revealed what was beneath-
And there was no expected human flesh beneath. There was just pale translucent purple film-like something that wasn't real. Or in this case, MORE real than everything else around it. Grey Masque did not stay still to let his entire suit fall apart though, and shot into the air with one almost perfectly vertical super leap. Anyone paying close attention would have seen his suit slowly waver and weave new segments to replace he lost patches where too many shots had landed.
Now Grey Masque could not 'super jump' as it was normally referred to. He could 'super leap.' An action that covered an extreme amount of distance, provided that the direction was UP. He could only move about a foot horizontally while jumping this way. The only place he could go was down-Back to more bullets.
Except he didn't go down-he performed a flip mid-air and landed on the ceiling as if it were the floor. And like a deflecting round, he bounced off the ceiling with ninja-like grace-Straight at Silk, with an arm drawn back to deliver a punch right at her face mid-air. And she would find that Grey Masque's strength was monstrous-he had super strength.

Jake saw nobody else in the room. Which was actually quite small for a cargo room-Probably built for special requests or sensitive singular items. Rooms like these usually only contained one or two items, and usually came with a bonus truckload of security and extra armor.
There was none of that here. There was just the blasted open door *which, for some reason, was missing* zero presence of anybody, and no blaring alarms.
Or cameras. That was odd. There should have been cameras, and a quick glance at the corners of the room would reveal that indeed, there were no cameras-
Because somebody else had obviously already been here and smashed all of them. The tell-tale wires still extending from the walls gave it away. If that wasn't enough, the would-be operator had also removed the wrecked cameras from the room. But he had apparently forgotten to do the same for the smashed glass they had left behind.
And one had to wonder how someone could have pulled all of that off without alerting any form of security.
Unless they had, which probably meant there was no security left.
Or it was a trap, which meant any number of armed guards could have been heading for the room-and Jake-at that very moment.
Whatever Jake thought or noticed, it was not hard to tell at all. Something was afoot, and it wasn't fungus.
(OOC: Um, again I bring up the point of what the hell security is doing right now? I'm not expert on cruise ships but wouldn't one that size with passengers from as many walks of life as we have (some of ya'll have mentioned having files and public records stating how dangerous they can be...this includes Shioh btw.) have a small platoon of trained guards with at the very least, knowing CoH-tech, the same kind of technology heroes supposedly use to teleport crooks to the Zig? Or in this case the Brig. After so many fire alarms and fights, I'd...I dunno...expect security details on known dangers.
Again, this includes Shioh.
UnlessPolice are Useless ))
Shioh walks from the grill, arms filled with hot dogs with one in her mouth, and somehow makes it to the bar without ending up in the engine room. She sees Harry, legs propped up and drinking something. Curious, she walked up to him.
"Waffa dwinthin?" she asked, her speech muffled by the hot dog in her mouth. (OOC: God that sounds wrong...)
