Alyssa had been trying to work out what the ninja and the alien were going on about, something about quantum physics was all she could understand. She looked up as Danny called from inside, and made to follow him inside before Acid's comment made her burst out laughing. "Not scaly, but you do look kinda like a lizard. Something around the eyes maybe", she said with a smile before resuming her interrupted path through the door, the flytrap following.

Danny was 'standing' on the ceiling, using his flight powers to maintain contact with the deckhead. He shrugged upside-down. "And I dinnae ha' a tail or fling poop, but tha' doesna' keep th'likes o' you fro' callin' me monkey-boy. Seems t'be pretty standard f'r alien encounters, f'r some daft reason." he said mildly, his slightly bantering tone robbing the statement of most offense.

"So, where's th'magic button?" he questioned, trying to drag the conversation back on topic so that they (or at least he) could get out of there.

"Oh sure, stereotype, why don'tcha." Acid exhaled through closed teeth, "You see any anal probes lying around, you lemme know. I lost mine."

"Touchy, are we?" Henteko chuckled in response, reactivating his optical camouflage, "And it's a big red button that says 'do not push'. No way it says 'emergency', so don't even look for that word..."

A set of headphones closest to Alyssa crackled to life. It sounded like a different ship was maintaining contact with the Naiad, and the tone was casual.

And someone was answering back.

The room, save for Alyssa, Danny, Acid, and Henteko, was completely empty.

Behind them, the reinforced door slammed shut violently and unceremoniously, the sound of heavy bolts slamming into their slots echoing around the room. A thick cloud of Kolokol-1 quickly began to flood the room from multiple vents, the fast-acting knockout gas fogging up the room in seconds. A low, barely noticeable humming began as well.

"Ah, thanks for making it easy." 'Mister Dune's' voice came from a rather out of place loudspeaker in the middle of the room. "You have to understand that I can't have you all getting in our way. You've probably noticed by now that this entire room has been rerouted to a secondary location, staffed by my capable radiomen. Don't worry, we'll keep the ship safe and sound. You won't be needed anymore. Trying to escape would be a bad idea here - you may need the energy you have left to fight off the Kolokol. You wouldn't get anywhere, anyway. All it took was one observant villain in a mayhem mission to rip a PPD Jail Cell Power Suppressor right out of the wall. Acid, I'm sorry you had to get caught up in all this, but you knew the risks when you helped them here. It's nothing personal, really."

"Well, the suppression is personal, because I know you have that phase-port that we've had so much trouble with in the past."

"Have fun. I've business elsewhere."

Alyssa's altered physiology kept her safe from gas of most kinds, but this was powerful stuff. "I knew this was a bad idea..." she said before dropping to the ground, unconscious. The flytrap sat beside her. Eventually the gas would get it too but until then it wasn't letting anything near her.

Danny's eyes flickered around rapidly. Some combination of accelerated physiology, training, and raw stubborness was keeping him on his feet, despite being significantly smaller and lighter than Alyssa. Then he smoothly brought up his bow and fired, the arrow neatly bissecting the piece of equipment he was fairly sure was a prison-cell power dampener; the little archer had seen enough of them for one reason or another to have a pretty good idea of what they looked like.

Then he held one of his Talsorian Arrows out towards Acid mutely, succumbing to the gas with a sigh. I' th'great git ha' any sense 't'all, he'll be cuttin' our way outta here right quick. was his last, fading thought as he sprawled full (albeit still rather short) length on the floor.

Acid, however, did not get the message. In fact, he didn't even see the arrow. For that matter neither did Henteko, for the two currently had their own problem to deal with. No, said problem was not the gas that rendered Alyssa and Danny unconscious. It was the locked bulkhead door that had slammed shut and sealed again.

For they had never actually entered the radio room...

A few seconds earlier...

"Why don't people ever listen to the paranoid ones?" Henteko sighed woefully as the door swung shut, locking with a loud grind. He didn't even attempt to open it again the usual way, but the Khelari couldn't leave the possibility untried. Sadly, the wheel didn't budge so much as a millimeter, "I could've told you that wouldn't work."

"Shush." Acid replied casually, pressing his skull against the bulkhead door to listen in on what was going on inside, and just in time to hear the voice of 'Mr. Dune'. It sounded a little bit distorted, but he could make out most of it, especially once he'd moved his head down to the hole the ninja had created earlier, the slitted pupil of an eye blinking through the tiny opening just in time to see the Kolokol-1 take effect.

"Then why did you not listen to me and go in anyway?" Acid mumbled in monologue, straightening his back out again with a sigh, "Well, guess we better get through this door. Oh, and stay away from this here hole."

"Gas, I know." the unseen ninja acknowledged, but brought up for consideration, "But should we really?"

"Well...yeah." the reptilian nodded in the fashion of 'duh', clawed fingers of his hands held apart to make visible open palms, "The whole 'deadly neurotoxin' thing might be old, but it's still effective. We really do need to get..."

"...them out of there before it kills them?" Henteko finished, a smirk in his smile, "It will not kill them. Kolokol-1 is an incapacitating agent, not a lethal one. Trust me, I know my gases. If we just leave them in there, the worst that can happen to them is lying around KO for two to six hours...which they would anyway, even if we got them out right now, because the agent takes full effect in one to three seconds, and by now has already done so."

"Oh...I didn't know that." Acid's head bobbed appreciatively, "Learn something new every day. Okay. Got anything to write on?"

"Already ahead of you." the cloaked ninja chuckled as the soft crumple of paper came from the toxin hole in the door, the rolled-up sticky note becoming visible as Henteko withdrew his hand, "That'll let them know what we did and why."

"In two to six hours, of course."

"In two to six hours, of course. " the ninja confirmed with a soft smile in his tone, "Now...I suppose we really should set off that distress beacon, so how about we find Ryuu-sensei and do just that?"

"Works for me." the reptilian smiled toothily, and with that the two headed off, leaving Danny and Alyssa behind without a third thought...

((Bet you weren't expecting that, huh? ))

Acid heard behind him the reports of a series of teleporting Gunslingers. A familiar voice drawled, "Ah didn' think it'd be that easy..." Fewer teleports followed, indicating that a couple of Designated Marksmen had stayed behind to guard the radio room, most likely taking some sort of cover as to not give themselves away.

((Not my fault Danny walked right into the obvious trap against the recommendations of not one, but two other people. ))

The duo of reptilian and ninja quickly rounded a corner at the sounds, the former very much hoping he had not been seen walking away. Henteko didn't much have to worry about that, but Acid was decidedly visible...

((Okay... I don't think I can be bothered to spend the next four months waiting for two hours of RP time to pass >.O))

The doorway went off its hinges in a gout of fire and smoke, spewing knockout gas in all directions as a very angry young archer stood silhouetted in the doorway, glowing arrow nocked and drawn. The faint purple glow of the stimulant-magic-time manipulation cocktail most of the supercommunity called a 'breakfree' surrounded him, automatically going off when his metabolic rate slowed past the acceptable level.

"NAE THAT EASY, YE [censored]!" a young voice roared, and the hallway from which Acid (and presumably Henteko, since the little archer had no real way to know where he was) had just retreated from was filled with a storm of arrows, multiple fistfuls ricocheting about while a series of straight shots sleeted through, scything the corridor clean.

Behind him, a purple glow from where he'd tossed a breakfree onto Alyssa showed that it was probably working.

Indeed it was, as Alyssa's eyes slowly pulled themselves back open. Only problem was, the presence behind them either wasn't Alyssa at all, or she was in an unimaginably foul mood. She sat up slowly, and as she did so the leaves on her hands, feet and head started growing into long vines that wrapped around her, weaving between each other to create a thick armor not entirely unlike that used by some stone-based tankers, with the exception of course being that it was made of living plants rather than of stone.

With that done, she crossed the room far faster than most would believe such a bulk could move and practically echoed Danny's actions, spraying thorny spikes all the way down the hall. Satisfied it was clear, she took off down the hallway in the direction the Malta soldiers had retreated earlier.

((As said, the armor is similar in concept to granite armor, but far less durable. Survivability comparable to the average scrapper, with a noticeable weakness to fire. If I'm being a little too out there with this then say so and I'll delete this post.))

The Gunslingers in the hallway had ported out long before Danny had even finished his sentence.

Within the next second several things happened.

One of these things was a silenced sniper shot ripping through the air from a very specific Walther WA2000 in .300 Winchester Magnum. Fired from the far end of the hallway, the heavy round blasted through the air towards Alyssa's head without so much as a hostile taunt.

Another of these things was a hostile taunt, from a completely different source.

"HAHAHAHA WHOOOO!" The Raging War yelled as he kicked open a nearby cabin door. "I'VE BEEN WAITING TO BLAST YOUR [censored] BACK TO PRESCHOOL EVER SINCE PORTAL CORP, KIDDY!" He roared towards Danny, reaching behind his head and swinging out two Impervium Falcatas. "YEAH [censored] YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONLY ONE WHO HAD NEAT TOYS? DID YA? I'D LIKE TO WELCOME YOU TO REALITY!"

War shifted back to a defensive stance before breaking out in a run towards Danny, swinging his blades wildly and hopefully severing the arrows he thought to be fast approaching.

Another thing that happened was the sudden decloaking of one very confident Arachnos Bane Spider, Operative Brushstalker, right next to Alyssa, completely ignoring the gas washing around him thanks to his Arachnos helmet.

"Ah, you'd be a fine trophy!" He hissed before swinging his Power Mace at her in a sideways bash on the off chance that the hidden sniper had missed his opening shot.

The last thing that happened was the sudden chemical charge that dropped out of the ceiling, loaded up with a Saxitoxin bomb that exploded immediately upon hitting the floor.

"Oh great..." Acid stopped dead in his tracks with a twitch as he heard the door careen off its hinges around the corner. If he knew anything about Malta, it was that Special Qualification Marksmen didn't hesitate to fire when something they didn't like the look of got in their way.

Why me?

With the characteristic sound of air collapsing into a suddenly appeared vacuum, he vanished from Henteko's side, jumping in zero time back into the radio room. What expected him there, however, he had definitely not expected. Fortunately, his idea to combat the Gunslingers worked out against this just as well.

The air before Alyssa flared up with the bright, pale blue shimmer of an energy barrier as a certain heavy round crashed into it with thunderous applause, sending ripples across the shield. A clawed hand stretched in her direction, the suddenly appeared reptilian stood quite taken aback, especially because the wavering ripples told the tale that the shell had almost gotten through.

Which meant that Brushstalker's forceful swing would crash through without so much as a second thought.

Acid spoke to himself no super powers, but if he had, it would have been his ability as an immediate adaptor. This meant he could adjust his way of thinking to virtually any situation almost instantaneously - and that's just what he did.

He sent the barrier rushing from its position, right at the Bane Spider with respectable force, bolting him against and into the radio equipment upon the nearest wall. At this close range and in such a short snap of time, he didn't stand a chance to dodge the barrier-become-mobile, especially with his mace to the side, Brushstalker concentrating upon his swing.

Regrettably, chances were the man hadn't even been stunned by the impact, and would be back upon his feet in no time at all.

It was a good thing the Khelari had another arm...

Alyssa didn't even react to the sniper, his round not even reaching her thanks to Acid's hastily erected energy shield. In truth she thought he'd shot at someone else. Brushstalker however she did notice and react to, roaring in fury as his mace left a deep gash in her side before retaliating with a barrage of thorny spikes. The wound he'd inflicted was already healing, the severed vines rapidly growing back together.

((Edit: damn you Devious))

It's hard to surprise a jumpy precog. War's yell and charge were anticipated by a good five seconds, and three of the oncoming arrows he was waving his blades about to try and stop were proximity-fused explosive arrowheads, each rigged with backup impact triggers. All told, it would probably be something of a nasty shock for the bladeswinger. The same motion fired several arrows towards the gunman down the hall, mostly as supressing fire.

The wash of gas around Danny had little effect, thanks to the still-active breakfree keeping his head clear, and a faint crackle around him told of potent electrical energies adding what they could to keeping him vertical. He could feel it burning as he breathed, but for the moment, the risk of getting diced outweighed that of being poisoned, so he just tried to stay as far above the clouds as he could and breathe as little as possible until things settled down a little.

With all the heavy gases being flung about, the heavy circulation fans along the hallway began to work, trying to clear the air... and, of course, the fire alarm went off again.

Unfortunately for Danny, despite the fact that War lacked precognition he still had common sense. As soon as the explosive arrows flew the Swordsman exploded in a blooming cloud of...blood? Indeed, it looked like a red haze fast approaching the little archer. As soon as melee distance had been reached, the bloodport ended, and War formed back into his lunatic self a mere four feet from the archer, blades swinging forward.

Brushstalker, in the meantime, had deftly leaped to his feet. The motion of bringing himself back up made it impossible to block the thorns flying at him, and he hissed as several made it completely past his armor, injecting him with their poison. His suit immediately began administering an antidote, however, and after a moment collecting himself, the Bane lowered his mace to a firing position.

"Let's see how you like this!" He yelled to Alyssa and Acid, a conical blast of energy beams lancing out of the tip of his Powered Mace's focusing lens. The bolts of energy packed a rather significant kinetic punch, and if either the lizardman or the plantwoman were hindered by the blast in any way, he'd be following up with a Mace Beam Blast.

Down the hall, the unseen sniper wasn't so much as grazed by the arrows. After all, Danny only knew that he was somewhere in the hall. Lining up again, the assassin loaded an incendiary round into his WA2000 and took a steady aim at Alyssa, making sure to compensate for the Bane's knockback if need be. Having gone so far as to adjust his shot for the blowing of the fans, he let it fly at Alyssa's center mass, almost guaranteeing a hit.
