How to make Magic Doorways
Post deleted by cyberhound
to make it a little more clear, I added a picture of a completed base using the magic doorway method. the link near the top of the guide before the actual instructions begin.

Okay, to make things even more complicated, there is a lot of experimenting that one can do if one is feeling especially balsy with their design. I've found that a magic room for making magic doors can be made in any location that has three or more doors attached to it, or is attached to a room with three or more doors attached to it.
For an example: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5.../WWEBase03.jpg
This was made using only the 8x8 plot, it is a one-player base and is completely stable. To note, I made the room layout before placing any items, to reduce the possibility for corruption.
In this case, I used an additional 1x2 workshop in the lower left corner and rotated the 2x2 medical room in order to force an impossible door placement on the workshop. This made the 2x2 room the "magic room" that allowed all of the double door placement throughout the base. to end the double door placing, I removed an item and placed a valid door to the workshop before deleting it.
I'm almost entirely certain that if you remove a room that has an impossible door placement without first giving a valid pathing, it has a high likelyhood of corrupting the base. (I lost a few Test bases before figuring some things out for the Live base.)
All that is planned fails. All that is born dies.
All that is built crumbles. This will always be true.
But memories remain, And that is beautiful.

Its been a while, since I came up with this guide. Since then I have learned how to do this very easy.
The guide above shows an elaborate maze of rooms being constructed to cause one room to detach, This is not really needed unless you find that to be the easist way. All that is really needed, is that you find a space on your plot that you can drop a single 2x2 room where you can cause the same conditions to occur.
I find is easiest to do by dropping the room so that one existing room is to the side, and one is to the bottom or top. Then move around items in the rooms so you can place doorways where needed. follow the rest of the steps in the guide.
I hope this helps aout anyone who is having issues with the guide.

First, I want to acknowledge that I learned everything re: "Magic Doors" from the OP and this thread ... so thanks!
But for those of you out there who may wish for a simplified step-by-step guide to the process ... try this link:

Enjoy!

Link appears to be down ... you've piqued my interest, any chance you'll be putting it up at (what appears to be) your new site?
This is my first guide, so bear with me as I show how simple it is to make wide doorways in your base. I figured I would call them Magic doorways to go along with the Magic desks
I hope everyone finds this guide useful
The purpose of this guide is to allow you to place multiple doorways side by side in your SG base so that you can make more open spaces such as I have done in here
[u] Warning: Using this or any other base bug may corrupt your base, losing everything in it.
[u]
Step 1: you need to free up enough plot space so you can place rooms on your plot in this configuration. These rooms are all workshops.
Step 2: Place a 2x2 room so that it is in this position, so that it attaches to 2 rooms one to the right and one below.
Step 3: fill in a segment of the 2x2 room you just placed, in the same position as this
Step 4: This is the most important part, click on the 2x2 room you just modified and select the move room option. Rotate the room outline until it looks like this. Once it is in position click to lock it in. The room will now look like this If you room looks like the picture, then you have successfuly detached the room. You can now move on to step 5
Step 5: place extra doorways any where you want as long as they are in valid locations between 2 rooms. When you are done placing doorways you can delete the rooms that were placed in the steps above.
NOTES:
1. I have not tested this with raids, I have no clue if it will cause problems.
2. You can not place more rooms or remove any doors, until the detached room is reconnected or deleted. The detached room can simply be rotated back to the original position to re-attach.
3. Don't place too many doorways, they still follow the same raid pathing rules. too many dorways on a room = no where to place items in the room
