I've noticed less and less pretty arts for the City Scoop in the thread :'(

The reason I put that there is because I avoid featuring art without the artist's and/or commissioner's permission. It's a difficult line to walk, but it's also easier on me to collect when our issues are put out.

Thaaaaaank you all, my lovely lovelies.

[ps. LadyJ, joo better take a break from teh arts and get joo some dooble expehs before yore hand fawlz awff.]

lol... yesum, thank you mistress.

Most of my art's been around for a couple years, so most everyone's seen it by now. Only have one piece in the pipeline, and I don't really think it'd be appropriate for the City Scoop anyhow. If things change and I get more arts, I'll post links.

You might want to check to see which ones you haven't used in that thread...cause I know there are a pretty good number of them that you haven't.

I had Darque in charge of it for a while, but recently she's been AFK with RL stuff, so I'm trying to play catch up.

Some stuff I can't run because it toes the line of appropriateness.

dunno if you saw her journal entry about that...

As I understand it, the guideline for art admissions for the Fanzine governs the City Scoop probably? I got a removal pm from a red name, who was very nice about it, and it was no skin off my back... no pun intended, okay maybe a small one.

But it is confusing that in the past, a lot has gotten through, and a lot here is fair game, but when it comes to the "official" areas there seems to be a stricter policy of late.

Can you give us the plain simple language version of what goes and what doesn't. I don't mind doing rated PG art, I just want to know for the record.

Actually, Lighthouse and Ex Libris are the end-all for choices.

I did not see that entry, though I understand her frustration. I was the one who submitted that picture to be in the Scoop. I feel really bad now.

I can't say much else about what happened, but it's a bummer and she's right.

I'm not sure anymore what governs the right and wrong of art. I've seen things sneak through that were deemed appropriate when I was even questioning if they'd make it through even if I thought they were okay [I was raised liberal, so it's hard to toe the line with me], and there have been a few points where things that were not too bad and were asked to be removed.

I hate to say it, because it may seem unfair and unbalanced, but it can sometimes be situational.

I'm going to talk to the red names and see if I can somehow make up a better explaination for ya'll soon.

I think we've gotten to the point, where we expect great art every week, and believe it or not that's a hard thing to ask of volunteers... it's a job with no pay but exposure, and some of the regular contributors haven't gotten enough of that, that new people are hard to come by.

This is not to say that Darque, you and TA didn't do a great job, but now you got a beast on your hands, that must be fed! Cutting back the art would suck, but finding new art gets harder and harder each issue...

The funny thing is, there are people who play this game, that don't even know we exist.

I can meet 10 random people I've never met ingame before and only 4 would recognize Turbo-Ski from the forums. Oh the injustice!

Say, that's pretty good considering they keep telling us the forums represent...what is it now?...2-3% of the player base?

You're still ahead by a factor of 10 at least!

Gil Bates probably doesn't play anymore also because he gets mobbed by requests and private messages! I certainly wouldn't want that every time I came on... 2-3%? Wow, so if I charge a dollar a sketch, I could get my numbers up to like 5%?

After reading Darque's dA entry, I'm positive now that I couldn't submit the one pic I have being worked on. Ah well, not as if it was a surprise.

Yeah, I was amazed that the only people in-game who even recognized my characters' art commissions are people I know in my SG who regularly read the Scoop. The quantity of people who don't visit here is huge, and of the ones that do hit the forums, the percent of those who read the Scoop is even smaller.

I wonder if there's some way to get the word out to get more forum participation (and hence more readers of the Scoop, more discussion and inut, more art commissioners, more artists, more ...). Is it overwhelming here with all the areas? Should there be a section for new forum visitors with the basics? Should we drag them kicking and screaming to the Scoop posts which may not be easy to find if you don't read the Dev Digest?

You know I'd love to do an art centrical issue.

Maybe you guys can PM me some ideas and I'll bust my butt in getting something sexy[but not so much so that Lighty or Ex gets upset] going?

Ya know Dirt, if you need filler space, you should think of doing an AT of the week Feature... that's how many frickin screenshots right there... You offer that up as a thread, and you'll get buckets of entries. Just post one in every AT sub forum, with the tag line, nominate your AT toon... I know you interview people, but these wouldn't be interviews, just hey look at me, this is my toon stuff.

It would cut down on your having to find people, you just need some crazy volunteer to cypher through your entries... or not, post them all, lolol... anyway good luck!

On the other hand, it scares me when I'm in game and I actually recognize someone from the forums/art community. I guess it just makes me realize how little of a life I have outside the game.

As for Darque's picture being too riskque I'd like to cite page 21 of comic 11 found here:

http://www.cityofheroes.com/comic/download.html

I think if they are toting thier comics on thier website, then anything that is comparable should also be allowed.

I must have missed something - there was a piece rejected for the Scoop? What was it? I don't think I've seen many pieces here that are any different than I see in comics.

I wonder if it was the piece, or some of the other at on her DA page in the same gallery, maybe.

We've had a few pieces that the red names have ultimately said we can't use.

Usually last minute too which is a hazard, but I do have good news...

Thor's Assassin will be heading up with art again! YAY!!!
