For LJ, and any artist that wishes to improve :3
Oh yeah I love Ryan Church and of course the demi-deity of digital Craig Mullins. I like that you can preview DVDs before ordering them... thanks Say!
Mmmm. Gnoooomon. Can't recommend those things highly enough. Nomnomnomnomnom!
Also high on my list: Burne Hogarth, and Anatomy for the Artist.
I've got several Gnomon volumes, and I can't praise them highly enough. I learn something everytime I watch one, even the ones I've seen many times. Personal favorites: the Feng Zhu series, and Syd Mead (Syd's amazing. Among other things, he concepted on Tron). If they had a set of Ralph McQuarrie, I'd probably die happy on the spot.
Also, I must shout-out to my favorite art magazine ever: ImagineFX. My subscription's almost up this year, and my only regret is I can't renew it right now. T_T

The best way to learn to draw for free is... well... to draw.
Draw every day, even if it's nothing showable. Go to the park or the mall and draw the people that you see. Draw the stuff on your desk.
Drawwwwwww.
Wow... that could come in very handy!!
A Warrior's Friend: ID 335212 - Help Infernal save Valkyrie from Battle Maiden.
Above Mars Part 1: The Wellington: ID 159769 - Save Mars by destroying a monstrous battleship from the inside!
>.> My DA page, where I attempt to art.

You may be above some of this, but always worth refreshing:
Learn to draw.com ... it has beginner, intermediate and advance lessons on downloadable .pdfs.
Hope you find something useful...

If you're a poor student, NOW is the time to ask for one of these for the holidays Seriously I cannot recommend them highly enough.
This site is no big secret, and yet many folks don't know about these guys.

If you're serious about learning things like creature design, tech design, design in general, how to use Painter, etc, then these DVD's are phenomenal.
We watch them on a regular basis in my Visual Development class and you can see a lot of lightbulbs turning on over student's heads. I promised LJ that I'd pick out a few that really helped/worked for me, so here's a few of Goat's Gnomon DVD picks:
Visual Storytelling by Ian McCaig (check out the rest of the volumes, they're also awesome)
Feng Zu: Fighting Robots Vol. 1
An Introduction to Corel Painter
