Recommend a good scanner? (or something)

My scanner has been busted for some time now and I'm looking to get a new one for a good price. it needs to be able to fit standard sized paper and have descent PPI resolution to recognize my pencil, figured this would the best place to ask as many of you would seem to have one.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to uploading some actual art for y'all (and getting one those snazzy deviant art accounts:P)

Don't get a UMAX. Made that mistake and now to get the updated drivers for WinXP I have to PAY for them.

You could always get a tablet and draw on the computer! Its really handy being able to do layers and all the different color things / effects.

I got a Canon LiDE 600F. I think it's the best (and coolest looking) thing in the world!

It's fast, it's small...and it's so neato!

yay advice! I'll look around for one and grab it so I don't make horrendous monsters of path vectors likeTHIS (I combined everything together to see how many paths I had used... 12556 total path vectors Dx)
