This is sort of a minor question, I guess...

Im setting up one of my new virture characters up on the verse, sort of feeling my way around...

now.. my problem is... I cant seem to get the "right" sized image for the villan table thingy... it always looks skewed and weird.

....so I was wondering if those out there who use the verse.... what size image do you use?

Exactly 300X300 Pixels. That's the size listed in the link you gave us, and I checked mine and it's 300X300 as well.

hes not THAT popular, Juggs ;P

well...
Ive been trying to use a screen cap.... is that a mistake? It looks fine on my computer, and fine on HC.... but when I try to put it on the verse, it looks awful (all jagged and grainy, like it got auto resized, or something)

It needs to be 300 px wide, or the template box will automatically resize it to 300px which will stretch it if it's smaller. It can be taller than 300px, though.

GyreFalcon 300 x 385
CBRXX Blackbird 300 x 387
SunFall 300 x 300

Not a mistake at all. See, what you need to do for it not to compress it is to save it as a GIF/JPG. If you're trying to submit them a larger file like say... A BMP or PNG, then they'll prolly either not accept it or will compress it like madness.

If you are saving it as a JPG, then I really have no idea what's going wrong.

OK... when you use a screencap, you want to crop the image to just the character. then, you want to resize the image so that it's roughly 300 pixels wide. I tend to resize by percentages, so that if it's in the neighborhood, a little resizing by the web browser doesn't make it look awful.

The same goes for artwork. You always want to keep the existing proportions, otherwise your character will look spread out or squished.

I do photo manip stuff and ive made hundreds of sigs and avatars in my day... so I at least know the basics.

I guess that why I asked, cause it didnt seem like anything I was doing was working.
