To Shadow a Shadow (Screenshot and Comic)

A couple of months ago during one of my sessions in gathering screenshots to put into a comicbook for the recent contest, I was able to capture one that really stuck out for me.

The screenshot

A couple of my friends helped me with this, disguised as Family thugs. This is actually a frame in Super Reflexes's Elude. I was actually going after the final frame of the animation, but I accidentally hit the Print Screen button a millisecond early and got this instead. And when I saw this image, I decided to use it.

It ended up also becoming the front cover of my comic submission. Since the contest has now ended (and as I expected I didn't win), I've decided to share this accidental shot.

I've also decided to place my comic in my signature below. It's far from being a great comic, but I decided I may as well show it to some people. I submitted it as a PDF to the contest and not through HyperComics, so I never really got any comments on it except from a few real-life friends.

I never really thought I had a chance of winning or even being in the honorable mentions, since for the most part I just took the prologue from a long epic story I've been writing on Shadow-Rush. It was the only part in it that I could fit into the 8 page limit. I'm not used to writing really short contained stories. So it was the one I decided to turn into a comic. So, yes, it ends in a cliffhanger of sorts.

But I do like how it turned out though. It was my first try in making a comic. At the very least I love the screenshots I took and had a lot of fun making the whole thing.

Now THAT's cool.

"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."

Agreed, that is one sweet screenshot.

I haven't even gotten to the comic yet, because this screenie stopped me cold. That is freaking awesome. It's easily one of the all-time top 5 screenshots I've ever seen, from any game. It so perfectly captures the spirit of what City of Heroes is about.

::: standing ovation :::

Bravo!

Amen to that

They need to throw that on the official box, or something

Wow!
Thanks guys for all the comments. Wasn't expecting some of the comments here.

Also, if anyone cares to. I'm also looking for some constructive criticism on my comic, not necessarily on the story, but more on the technical aspects of the comic. Like the writing, grammar, chosen panel layouts, screenshot angles, lighting, Photoshop effects used, pacing, etc. Just one or two comments on one of those would be good.

I wish to get better at this and would like to ask in which areas you guys think I may need improvements on.
