I don't know how we're going to squeeze $5,000+ out of $2,000. Maybe later on in the year we'll be able to get something done.

What marriage penalty? That's not really around anymore. The deduction for being Single is half of the deduction of Married Filing Jointly. That was changed about three or four years ago.
We have a kid, in daycare, plus I have a retirement fund that I donate to, so by filling out the Form 2441 and Form 8880, plus the Child Tax Credit, we get about 2K taken off our taxes to pay. Next year, since we just bought a house, should look a little better.
But, if you have no deductions (don't file a Schedule A) or any credits, such as dependent care expenses, you don't get much of a benefit.
Sorry. Work just interferes too much with my normal life.

I'd like to see some snow every now and then. When it does snow, it's more like sleet and ice, that melts, and freezes, and ends up as 1" thick ice on your car and sidewalk.

We got several inches of snow here in Ohio, I would gladly trade it for your heat. We're also getting freezing rain tonight. Lovely.
Right now we have a high today in the upper 70's, winds from the West with gusts up to 40mph, and the current temp is about 70.

I'll take it! Gonna get down into the teens tonight here. I wish the whole year was just Spring and Fall, I hate Winter.
We just got married, have no kids yet, and really no other deductions (even my college loan repayment didn't help me much last year), so it's not going to be too nice. Kids make a big difference. My mom's been hurting now that all of us kids are growing up.
And yeah, TA, I actually changed it somewhat recently. Used to say "Near my cowboy" which tended to confuse folks a lot.
