Something just occurred to me. An epiphany if you will!

Awhile back(i6ish, i think,) "rain" powers that summoned a temp pet to do damage got changed, so buffs to the player would then transfer.

Does this include time bomb?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't affect Time Bomb or Trip Mine. The change to Rain powers was in I7, so you could check the patch notes for that issue to check.

Castle says it does. I go to test and:

Nope. Not at all. Drats! oh well, it's still nice to have a mini-nuke that potentially draws no aggro

Well, technically, I said "I think it does." Still, sorry for getting your hopes up.

Personally, I'm not really sure how this works. I have heard that if you build up before you drop the item, it does extra damage. And I have heard that it is not actually the time you drop the item that is important, but that it does damage within the duration of the build up. So, for instance, you might build up and drop a DoT item, and it would do the boosted damage until Build Up wore off and then go back to the regular damage.

If the latter is true, then you need to time your Build Up to just before your foe sets off the Trip Mine. Or just before the Time Bomb goes off. For completeness you might test both. (When you drop it, and when it goes off)

Then again, maybe you already did.

Just tested that, too. nadda.

Getting Aim to apply to a Trip Mine or Time Bomb would be tricky anyway. You have to use Aim, THEN drop the bomb (pet entities only get the buffs you have at the time of casting), and get the enemy to trigger it within that 10 seconds minus the activation time. You could possibly pull it off while toe bombing, but I'd imagine Time Bomb is right out.

Well, it isn't affected by red inspirations, or longer damage buffs either.

I am under the impression that both Trip Mine and Time Bomb are affected by Targeting Drone. This buff is constant, so its much easier to get it to apply than Aim. Not sure though.

Anyone else who has a more informed opinion on this?

Build Up does not come with /Device. Only possible buff is Aim in the primary, but Aim doesn't buff Tripmine or Timebomb. Even then, the set up time is so long and the trigger AI so buggy you would be wasting a potention buff better used for say an AoE.

Yes. You can't buff Tripmine or Timebomb. TD doesn't buff anything but your own attacks nor does it buff AT. Caltrops is a pseudo-rain, so it would be buffable by Aim. But thats insignficant, given that its auto-hit and the damage very minor.
