Advice on Inspirations
ya i believe it be so... i try to use them when i can but sometimes forget... silly me... if i were though to create an insperation i think that a recharge insperation would be AWESOME!!
I hoard terribly. You are right though, and actually, this past halloween event helped me to start using inspirations more often. Because of the drop rate on the doors, I was trying to always use some if I couldn't store them in an supergroup base. I'm sure I'll still hoard more than the average person, I like to have a safety net, but I think I'll approach "normal" usage levels.
You are right though; using them is what they are there for.
Still...full tray is pretty...oh well, can't expect all habits to be dropped quickly
Edit: Fixed spelling. Thanks Boresight, wasn't thinking.

Thank you SOOO much Boresight. Heheh. Ok, yes, so I spelled the word incorrectly, my bad.
If my inspiration tray is empty at the end of a mission, then I know it was a good mission.
If I'm mostly ignoring my inspiration tray, then I take that as a sign that I need to either turn up my difficulty or increase my team size... or maybe even pick more challenging opponents. If I'm on an eight person team, invincible setting, fighting carnies or malta or rularuu, I'd better damn well be using my inspirations. Not doing so is just stupid in those circumstances.
yah, most peopl dont use enough insps.... i usually like to leave my left-most column open, unless im stocking up for pvp or an AV battle, and even then i tend to leave it open unless i personally went to a store to buy 'em.
If it's a Tier 1 or Tier 2, I'll use 'em up, after all, those things are plentiful.
If it's a Tier 3, well, that sucker's getting saved for something REALLY big. Since I can't reliably get them anymore (come on and unnerf Kora already, it's been long enough, something should've been done by now to differentiate it from regular Tier 3's), it has to be something good to get me to use them.
Presents? Those things go RIGHT into storage. I'm sitting on 54 Presents from various Winter events (2 from the original btw). Anyone else notice that when put into storage, they sort by whatever type of present they are? You can't tell until you use it what type it is though.

Wow, I have saved a few, but that is an impressive collection. You know what you could do? Take one of each type out of storage, and make notes telling you which tray position matches each group in storage. Then copy that character to the Test Server, and see what each one is.
I do not have as many saved as you do, but I have done this and it works, as long as you don't have any ethical issue with looking inside your wrapped presents.

Hehe. And that's only from the characters I really play. If I was to add up all of the ones from alts on other servers, it would probably top 150 presents. I should actually go through my alts and count them up some day.
As for checking it out...that's actually a darn good method. Think I may give that a try. Thanks! No ethical issues as I used to find and sneak peeks at my presents when I was a kid.
I'm guilty as charged on that one. Usually I don't use them unless I'm in trouble or have a tough fight ahead. I'm particularly greedy on my ninja/poison MM, since I can just use Alkaloid to heal the ninjas and don't get aggro often when I'm soloing. But your point still stands. We shouldn't be so reluctant to use them.

After playing almost 2 years, I think the most common mistake that I see players make, even high level players, is NOT USING their Inspirations.
Why should anyone ever be defeated with a tray full of inspirations? Ok, I realize, sometimes everything goes South too fast for you to react, but the general behavior I have seen among the player populace is not to use inspirations frequently enough. In some of those cases where things go south too fast to react, it just means that you should have used some inspirs preventatively, like purple or orange inspirs to increase defense/resistance so that you would *have time* to react.
It seems to me, most players have a 'hoarding' mentality when it comes to inspirs. That they are something special to give you an edge in an AV fight or something, and never be used at other times.
This is *JUST PLAIN WRONG*. Sure, you probably don't need to use inspirs every fights, but think about this. In most missions, and while hunting outdoors, inspirs drop like candy at a parade. While it's true that I've been in a *few* missions where I received no inspirations, most missions allow me to use all my inspirs, and completely refill my tray before the end of the mission.
The truth is, many people miss out on a lot of free inspirs because their inspir tray is FULL. If your tray is full, you will receive not Inspir drops. So, my rule of thumb is, always leave at least one inspir slot empty. If I've got a full tray, IT's TIME TO USE SOME INSPIRS.
If you're a balster or Defender, and have a nuke that's up once every 4-6 fights, might as well use inspirs every time you nuke, no? I mean, most people use Aim + build up (or Power Build Up if they are a high level Defender) to make the most of their nukes. Why not add a damage inspir or two, if you have them anyhow? Or maybe some purple and orange inspirs to help you survive whatever reprisal you might face if anything is left alive from your nuke?
Having a hard time hitting stuff? Hit a yellow inspir or two.
Inspirations: they're cheap and plentiful. Don't hoard them, you're only hampering yourself. Love em, Use em.
Addendum: I wanted to clarify something. There's nothing wrong with saving some inspirs for an AV fight if you know it's coming. They can certainly help give an edge in a particularly tough fight. But, if you know that you are going to be slogging through 30-50 groups of enemies before you get to that AV, there's no harm in using some of the inspirs.
If you want, of course it's ok to hold back a small number of inspirs that you think you'll want for the AV fight (in case no additional inspirs drop), but to go through the entire mission without using any inspirs is truly a waste. That is the mentality I'm trying to address here.
A lot of people could avoid defeats, and defeat enemies faster, if they just used inspirs a little more liberally.
