Pallequin - watch the work in progress

This is a work in progress for the hero Pallequin . I thought I'd show the different stages of his development.

Stage one is the sketch, or blue . I was asked to include the main character and a number of mages lying at his feet. I thought I'd go one better and have them melted into the ground. As well, I thought it needed a little bit o' mood. For that I added a surprise visitor.

Unlike how I normally update my pics, I'm going to keep them on this one thread but seperate in my DA page. That way you can have a better understanding of the stages.

Wow, I think I peed a little bit! Just one "nit pick", the hair should be a bit longer. (For those that don't know, Pallequin is one of my alts). Thanks for the update Juggs!!

That's an easy fix man.

Actually the hair is usually done in one of the last stages. If I try to rough it in the outline, things get goofy on me (so your character might just be bald for one stage).

Do you clean up your sketches before posting them? I ask because I've watched artist draw their figures and usually the sketches are messy and filled with notes to let the artist know where a feature is going to be placed so he doesn't loose the concept he has in mind. Like they'll draw a circle were the hand should be and have like an outline on the face for eye and nose placement. The initial sketch is usually rushed to get their idea on paper. To other people they look like scribble, lol. Your sketches are very clean and very clear, it's very easy to picture what the end product will look like. You must have a steal trap as a memory my friend.

Looks great, can't wait to see this finished!

My sketches can vary. Sometimes it looks like a bowl full of smarties (circles everywhere) and other times it's clean. This time I knew the placement of a lot of things; the client gave me some good references and I knew the specific outlay of what I wanted. But if you notice, things like the eyes are just roughed in, they're not really in the shape that they'll end up in (at least I hope not).

Also, I just thought I'd update with how I plan to lay out the lighting.

Anyone else keeping track of how long this is taking?

Juggy, I'm going to have to invest in a box of Depends watching your progress on this piece as each update causes me to wet myself a little more each time.
