I think it's pretty obvious that most people here don't use printer paper and a #2 pencil from what I've seen here. My question, what pencils, pens, paper, watercolors, markers, etc, do you use in your art?

printer paper and a nuber 2 pencil for roughs

I'll sometimes transfer the image from the printer paper to bristol board if I know I'll be doing any major coloring .

I use normal off the shelf ink pens to ink

and prisma color markers as well as prisma colored pencils to color .

While im sure really good materials will help you look more professional I figure I'll save the money until im a bit more polished as right now my number 2 pencil , printer paper and ink pen serve my needs quite well

I usually do most of my drawings in a sketch book or drawing pad, thats good enough for almost any kind of medium you may want to use. A #2 pencil is fine, sometimes I use that or a mechanical pencil. I do use art pencils, I use 5B, 7B, and 8B for different darks for shading, HB for drawing finer lines, the H pencils will give you a lighter effect, but I don't usually like using harder pencils.

When I'm lazy, I just draw everything with a ballpoint pen.

I either use my tablet altogether, or I use an H pencil to sketch the drawing out, then ink it with a regular ink pen. . . I need some more of those. I either color on the computer or with colored pencils. . . I need some good markers.

Okay, I feel like a moron now. I totally forgot that I have a tablet I broke the bank to buy and haven't used for a while.

I use a green Col-erase colored pencil, mechanical pencil, pen style click eraser and printer paper.

The secret to getting clean lines to me, is in using colored Col-erase pencils to do your draft work and then drawing the final down in pencil. It's very easy to erase the colored lines in Photoshop via a slight channels editing. Your physical art page will not be as messy as doing it in straight pencils and sometimes the added color makes a line drawing more pretty to view than simple B/W.

Also, knowing how to properly clean and enhance art in Photoshop does miracles. I suppose that's my last tool in drawing. You can't create wonders from nothing in Photoshop, but it certainly helps to chisel away the excess line from your creative process and hone it into something great.
