Andrew sighed at being ignored. "Yes Andrew, that's a brilliant idea. Let's all go do it," he muttered. He began speaking louder. "Well, I think I had a good ieda, so I'm gonna go try and find the portal. Use this to follow me, if you like," he said, and pulled a small triangle-shaped piece of his thigh off and put it on a nearby table.
"Push the button on the back and wave it around, it'll beep if it's pointed in my direction." With that, Andrew walked back outside ((We are inside, right?)), switched on his jets and lept over to the lab.
Several jumps later, he landed in front of the entrance to the lab and found Linn there. "Hey Linn, everything okay?" he asked.
Rich didnt answer Experiment for a good 20 seconds before shaking his head. I dunno about the robots but I do know of one person who had something to do with it. Here, take a look. The detective tossed his PDA to 2.0 so he could see a quick portion of footage.
It was the library and for a few seconds, showed it empty then a slight jump. Then Linn was at the stone construct near its center. It was unclear exactly what he was doing but to Rich it was obvious, Linn was deleting the surveillance video that occurred during the incident. That weird magic slab thing is where the unconverted footage was obtained. Obviously, Linn is covering something up because it was him that seemed to have tampered with the tape.

Linn turned to the android and nodded. I see youre repaired. Perhaps you can help them track the intruders. On the floor below the first in the lab, there should be a device that can track beings of magic if you have something that belongs to them. Linn began to walk away from the stage. Please be quick in finding them. Those ninja will be harder to track if you take too long.
"Uh... okay. I think I have a lead, but I'll go down there and get the thing anyway. It can't hurt." Andrew started turning away, then turned back. "Oh, Linn!" He had to shout, as Linn was a distance away now. "Any suggestions on how to get something of theirs? They attacked me earlier, so I'm sure a shard of sword broke off ((Swords often dent and chip after a battle, especially against armor)), but I really don't want to go digging in my wires."
((That last question is invalidated if Andrew still has that bag. Of course, Andrew doesn't know that bag is theirs, so he'd still ask the question. Still, I can't remember if they took the bag or just its contents.))
Experiment used his own PDA's camera to record the footage, and threw it back to Rich. "Okay then, that would explain his apparent need to kick us out, and the fact that he was always going away. I guess he kept thinking we had that tape. I am going to get him and get some answers." he 2.0 muttered, walking out of the door swiftly.
He then began running to the Banquet Hall at a sprint, which didn't take long. He leaned up on a wall just to the left of the door, waiting for Linn to exit. A surprise attack was always the best approach.
"Wait. . ." Hal said, puzzled. "Linn knows about something that can track magical beings by their possessions? . . . Why didn't he mention that earlier?"
((Everyone forgot about me again!))
Rich had to sprint as fast as he could to catch up to Experiment, which wasnt all that slow by the way. Wait! he said, breathing heavily from his run. Im not sure what ya plannin but try not to let Linn know were onto him. We still need to verify some kind of motive. I have a hunch what it is but I need a little more confirmation.

Theres bound to be something, Andrew, Linn answered. Whomever did this cannot be perfect. Im sure they were careless and left more than enough to work with. Linn began to leave again but stopped and turned back to Andrew.
and be careful with it. William is probably the only one who could make another if it broke so Im expecting you to keep that scanner safe.
Linn then left them and on his way out, passed Experiment leaning on the entrance and Richard sitting and looking at more footage on his PDA. Rich continued to take notes.

Experiment continued leaning against the entrance, watching Linn as he passed. With a slight sigh, he turned to Rich. "Okay... Whatcha watching now? If you really want us to figure this out before I do anything, we had better hurry. I have an urge to arrest something."
". . . What are you two up to?" Hal said, advancing on Experiment and Rich. "I can sense emotions, and yours are worried, impatient, and determined. And not just about finding the ninjas that attacked. . . What's going on?"
Experiment half-turned toward Hal, looking toward where Linn had gone to, and back. "Look, it really isn't that important, just... Maybe, if you see Linn around, keep an eye on him. Now, I am not saying FOLLOW him. Don't make it look like you suspect anything... Which you shouldn't, nothing to suspect, but just... you know... Keep an eye out."
With that, he turned back to Rich, frowning. "So, anything new we have to look at?" he whispered quietly.
Linn eyed Experiment and Detective Holmes coldly before returning to the front of the estate. Then Hallucinogen popped in.
No, nothing, Rich told the both of them as he closed his notebook. Really, I was just reviewing over what the footage captured and trying to estimate how much of it was tampered with.
Richard pocketed his PDA and reopened his notebook. The crime must have occurred only a few minutes after 7:55 but that doesnt mean thats all that could have been tampered with. Rich flipped a few pages and began reading, The cameras show William appearing in the banquet hall at around 7:32 and Ian being escorted out of the main mansion at 7:35 by Linn. Ian shows up at the banquet hall at 7:47 but Linn is no where on any surveillance footage. Then some of the cameras go down. Ian examines the food in the reception area while his mother and father are in the lecture hall testing equipment. Sandra screams, William helps then smoke

Rich had flipped through his book quickly and finally closed it. Something isnt adding up. Where was Linn? What was he doing during the crime? And what were those ninja doing in the lab? Why were they even here at all?
". . .Uh. . . you mean you actually NEED to ask what that means?!?" Hal said in disbelief. "It's all Linn's fault! Let's get him! Essex, Naga, come on!"
"Ah, wait for me!" Essex cried, looking to Naga and hurrying after Hallucinogen.
"Something doesn't seem right here, though. Do you really think Linn would be involved in such a thing? He may seem unfriendly but he also seems so devoted to the family..."

"Yeah, yeah," Hal said impatiently, "Maybe he is. Probably there's some complicated story about why he did what he must have done. We can find it out when he's in jail!"
"Okay, well if it's his fault, what proof do we actually have to support that?" Rich said rather flatly. "Besides, wouldn't Ian, who was waiting in the reception area outside of the lecture hall, have figured Linn was behind all of this?"
Hallucinogen stopped and sighed. "Ugh. You and your stupid. . . logic! I mean, yeah, you're a detective, okay. Know why I'm NOT? Because I can't THINK when there's lives at stake and criminals at large! That's what I have contacts for, dangit!"
". . . So figure it out and give me the next mission already!"

Heres a mission for you, Richard gruffed. Find out who else was involved in this whole fiasco and find out why. If there were ninjas jumping around stealing stuff, I dont see why there couldnt be ghost pirates forcing Mrs. Kelly to walk the plank or whatever.
Ian soon met up with the group who were discussing the matter just outside the door. W-what are you guys talking about? Did you find out what happened to mom? he asked rather tentatively. Although he wasnt shaking, he looked as if he would break down any minute due to his compulsive sense of anxiety over his only parent.
((Taking some control to move the story toward the next segment.))
After a little searching, Andrew finally found the piece of equipment Linn was talking about on the first floor of the laboratory. Here it is, Andrew announced to the group to reveal a weird looking machine that, essentially, was a clear crystalline sphere attached to a small handheld computing device by a metal claw-like base with cables connecting the two main components. Its pretty simple to work. You basically use this part to scan something and this crystal ball may indicate their whereabouts. Of course, it had other function, such as simply displaying who the item belongs to and such.
Terrific, Rich responded sarcastically, And I suppose it does that by magic? The detective sighed and pulled out the feather he had received earlier along with the rectangular piece of paper discovered before that. Good luck but I need to keep an eye on Linn. Finding out what the ninja were up to will no doubt fill in the holes in this whole scene.

"Uh, Ian, Essex, Naga, Experiment?" Hal muttered, turning to all four of them. "I guess we need to find more clues or something."
He sighed. "I wish I knew what happened, but as usual, I'm completely clueless. I just want to know what's going ON. I hate this sort of thing. . . Has anyone checked the lecture hall? I mean, it sounds like a bunch of stuff happened there. There's gotta be SOMETHING we can find SOMEWHERE!"
