That's been a phenomenon ever since Poser came out; a vast majority of Poser art is babe-art. In some ways, it's contributed to the negative stigma Poser has been associated with.

It's also too bad Vex has limited himself to babes only. That's effectively cutting out half his potential client base.

Still, nice render. It could use a background, though. But that's just me.

That looks great! Congrats!

I agree Doug. Most of the Poser renderer's I have seen on deviantArt are solely females. Perhaps it has something to do with the amount of money you have to spend on outfits, props and skins?

Anyhows, speaking of the male gender - has Comrade Hero made it onto the list of heroes to be immortalized by you yet?

Hi all I'm very glad you all like my work

Why I don't do males? Well i'm lesbian. ( just kidding.. haha ok.. anyways.. )

No, really. I did a portrait of one once.. and it was frustrating. The client liked it but the poser 'male' models look more like they belong on a fashion runway show than in some heavy metal gear. its hard to make them look manly, if you know what i mean. but hey, if a supermodel superhero is right up your alley, then maybe we can work something out. they all wear spandex anyways right ? there is a major short in male gear though. you have a few good sets but its not really 'superhero'ish.

I do agree with the background though, but Super was the one paying for it so he gets what he wants

Hi Vex!

Vex does really good backgrounds, check out her gallery sometime. I asked for a minimal sky background and that's what I got.

One thing I have seen on deviantArt is a style of art where there are stylized images of manga influenced men who are very fashionably dressed, usually barechested and have very wavy hair. Not sure what it's called though.

((Heh, I knew my knowledge of Manga and Anime would come in handy someday.))

It's called 'Bishonen' (roughly translates as 'pretty boy'), and is a very popular style over in Japan. Usually drawn by women for women, many 'Bishonen' or Bishie themes include vampires, demons, angels and, shall we say 'forbidden love'?

Anyway, that's what it's called. If you want more info, type 'Bishonen' into Google or Wikipedia and see what you find.

Well, don't say that playing video games and reading gaming forums teaches you nothing! You learn something new every day. Bishonen huh? I think TA could be persuaded to get one of those. Put new meaning to Thor's Assassin vs. Assassin of Thor.

Fist, to vex, nice render there! and to mirror a former question asked a bit up on this thread, did you do any post render touchups in PS? Looks damned good though, and Suppa, you got yer self one nice piece!

Of ART! Get yer minds outa that gutter, sheesh.

Actually, wouldn't that be something called yaoi? Single pretty boy is the Bishonen, more then that, yaoi... at least this is the way I understand it from Scarf_Girl and Starchasm... *looks around* they're freaks... FREAKS!

Posted

Not necessarily.

While yaoi (also known as Shonen Ai) is a common theme, so is one girl vying for the attention of many boys. For example, the Fruits Basket manga, while its filled with a plethora of bishies, is at it's heart a story about a young girl who stumbles on a dark family secret, and through her caring nature, brings about changes in every member of the family.

I guess the biggest thing about Bishonen is the fact that the guys are more feminine in both their looks and (at times)outlooks, where as the guys in regular Shonen (Dragonball, Gundam, Yu-Gi-OH) are more rough-and-tumble.

I guess overall, the Bishonen style is all about pretty boy looks and romance. But don't quote me on it.

Whoops! My bad.

Thanks for the Wiki link, Arch. It'll help a lot!

SMF, tell Vexiphne to keep up the great rendering work.

the hair and some highlights are postworked. the green on the boots and gloves as well as the inverted "V" on the jacket were postworked. in this case, Its just more efficient to color over something in photoshop than it is to open up a UV map, and try to paint on the texture itself for rendering the background was put in after i rendered. i try to work within the program to make the finished render require the least amount of postwork, in hopes if the client needs a small change in gear, or pose, i dont have to spend another couple hours repainting something over the new render.
