"but I don't keep soda in the house...there's too much sugar, you know. Now then..."

Anna and Kathode stopped fighting at once at stared at Essex? "NO SUGAR?" They both shouted simultaneously.

Essex laughed.

"I didn't say no sugar, I said too much sugar. I'm not ruling out dessert, but soda is downright bad for you."

With that, she began pouring sippy cups of juice and setting the table.

((Wow, Ess... How are you surviving this thread, with no angst?))

Experiment smiled as he heard Essex call to the children to inform them of lunch, and walked out happily. "Finally... I haven't eaten in... What, 6 hours now, is it? Dang Troll-in-the-Box... Damn 'hoowah's'"

Kaos nodded to Experiment. "Indeed. Do you know how much rations it takes to feed my henchmen? And no soda? That's just rediculous!"

"Thank you for your help, Sienna. You get a gold star as well today. Now let's all go to the dining room..."

Sienna smiled and a shower of sparkles exploded from her that formed a little shimmering star until the sparkles fades away. She then flew low zipping between the legs of the other kids and heading into the dinning room.

"Hey! How rude!" Sapphire complained as Burning knocked her over. Ruby retailiated by swinging his hammer at the back of Burning's knee.

Most of the fireball splashed against a thin bubble that burst with the hit. "Ha!" Diamond crowed as she lauched a double barreled blast of water at Burning.

"Lunch time!" Essex's voice called. Like a switch, the bots ran from Burning and toward the table.

"Hey! Ye canna eat ye clunckheads!" Ani called as she skimmed after them.

Stell pulled up short as Essex and the others moved out of the kitchen. Wrapping a pair of tenticles around Naga, she turned sharply and swam toward the table. "C'mon Virelai, those sandwhiches looked tasty!"

"Sandwiches!" Virelai quickly nodded and took chase after along the Nova, running as fast as her little legs could carry her, blazing into the corner leg of the table once again with a loud WHACK!, toppling onto her back. "Owww..." She muttered, clutching her forehead. She sensed the birth of a running gag, one she did not appreciate being the butt of. It hurt. And it hurt a lot. Anyone who ran right into a table could appreciate why they wouldn't like it. Regardless, she then hopped right back up onto her feet, plopping her butt down onto the ground and scooting her legs underneath it.
She looked over at the Kheldian, waving out for her new friend. "Stalla!" She exclaimed, mispronouncing her name. "This way!"

((Figured I might as well introduce a new char. It's gonna be so much fun to play him))

Dark.
There are many who theorize that darkness doesn't exist--they say that darkness is not an element by itself, but it's merely an absence of light. Take away light, and you get not darkness, but nothing.
It certainly felt that way in this room, with how dark it is.
Devin O'Reilly, combat medic, code 40-68W strolled through this abandoned corridor, his double-barreled shotgun at the ready. His worn green eyes set into a pale face, with a scar over his right eye and stubble aligning his face, unruly red hair parted at the right. In his left hand, he clutched his double-barreled shotgun, pointing it every whichway, cautious for whatever monsters could be lurking in the darkness. In his right hand held a woman, only a little younger than he, but also with the same blazing-red hair. She was scarred severely and looked weak--she looked crippled, actually, with the way Devin was pulling her along, her legs stumbling as she tried to keep up with him. Tucked in her dress were a few files, each of which packed with papers, reports, and logs.
He was on a mission. He had important papers he needed to deliver to the head of this facility, but...it seemed to be abandoned. And, even worse, infested with foul, vile creatures. Creatures that could jump out and attack anytime.
"Don't worry, sis. You can make it. Just hang onto those a bit longer." Devin muttered.
Veronica, his sister, sniffled. "I'm...I'm scared, bro. What...what if something happens?"
Devin gritted his teeth, whirling around to take aim at another shadow. "Nothing's going to happen, sis. I promise. I'll die before I let anything get you."
The two continued onward slightly, before coming to a corridor.
Devin stared down just how dark it was, then slowly put Veronica down onto the ground, leaning her up against the wall. "Stay here, sis. I won't be long, I promise--I just need to check out something."
Veronica nodded, taking this moment to close her eyes, breathing deeply. "...Be back soon, bro."
Devin nodded, slowly starting to tip-toe his way down the hallway. "I promise."

Devin made decent distance before he heard his sister scream. "VERONICA!" He shouted as he quickly whirled around, making his way back to her. He didn't even stop as he saw what was near her--a demon, a monstrosity, entirely in blue skin and with numerous scars all over it's body, and a revolver in it's left hand. It was standing over Veronica's screaming form, it's claws opening and getting closer and closer to her.
"GET AWAY FROM HER!" Devin screamed as he lifted up his shotgun, a KRAKOOM! echoing through the room as he fired. The creature dove to the side and rolled, dodging effortlessly as it returned fire, two of it's three shots burying itself into his shoulder. The warrior cried out and clutched his wounds but continued to press on, dashing over to the creature's position, letting loose another shot. This one was dead-on, and the demon retreated a few steps, blood spurting outwards. Devin jumped up into the air, letting off amazing height, thrusting out both of his legs in a dropkick, causing the creature to reel and cry out in pain. Devin landed down and tried to let off another shot, but was quickly kneed in response, sending him flopping against the ground, shotgun out of his grasp.
His mind started to cloud as a desperation took him over, bounding over to the blue-skinned demon, shouldering it right in the gut and tackling it down to the ground, pinning his hands down on it's arms to keep it from moving. The creature squirmed and writhed underneath his grip, but Devin kept on holding it down firm. His eyes flashed as he heard Veronica sobbing in the corner, still scared from her narrow escape.
He didn't have his shotgun.
He could improvise.
With a snarl, he slung his head down to the creature's shoulder, burying his teeth into it's soft flesh with as much strength as he could muster, biting and chewing away at it--he grinned as the creature howled in agony, writhing even further, and added more strength to his jaw. Until, that is, Devin felt a boot from under his stomach, sending him hurtling off and onto the ground. He winced in pain, but smiled as he heard the creature retreat, screaming for backup.

"MISS ESSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEX!" Virelai ran away, screaming at the top of her lungs, kicking toy darts away left and right, clutching the bite wound on her neck, blood spurting out furiously from it and starting to pool and trail on the ground as she ran down the actually-quite-bright hallway--right smack into the table leg again. She had a big bruise already starting to form on her jaw from his kick, and her nose was a little bloody as well.
A little boy, no older than five, Devin stood where he was, panting furiously, blood dripping from his mouth, a few pieces of Virelai's skin hanging off his lips. He licked his lips slowly, swallowing and savoring the taste, then quickly whirled around to a rag doll next to him, picking it up into his arms and holding her close. "Don't worry, Veronica. You're safe now. I promise...you're safe." He cooed as he stroked her yarn hair, it's eternally-smiling face buried into his neck.

Shiro waved the sippy full of juice away as he removed his own from his jacket. He sat there eating and smiling. He leaned over with a boyish grin to whisper to Anna, the demon child, "Hey ya want soda? I can hook ya up." he took a sip from his cup and gave her a less than sly wink.

"What?" Essex was instantly alert, hurrying to the hallway and scooping up Virelai. "Virelai! What on earth happened!?" she cried, sprinting to the bathroom with the girl. Wetting a washcloth, she began to clean the blood from her wounds, quickly disinfecting the bite on her neck. Nanites pulsed from around Essex, quickly closing the little blue girl's wounds.

"Hold this here..." she cautioned, holding the washcloth to the bruise, before going out to the hallway to greet the newcomer.

"Well, hello..." she began with a friendly smile, crouching down to face the boy. "What's your name?"

She kept her pose nonthreatening, but was ready to move. If the first thing this kid had done was attack another child unprovoked, things could get interesting...

((It's like demon Rugrats >.> ))

Burning pouted at the fact that he was all wet again, and placed a palm on the spots, drying them with tiny flashes of heat.

He hovered behind the robots, swooping down and kicking one before running into the kitchen.

Blonde hair and curious blue eyes peeked out from behind Essex at the new arrival. "Miss Essex? Can I poison him and put him to sleep? Vampires shouldn't be awake in the day." he joked, however, still glaring at the child.

"I have synthisized a Council cure for Vampiwi. This worm should be shot on sight men." With that he passed two vials of the anti vampyri serum to 2.0 "If you think it's a Vampwia you shoot it with one of these. Use the whole vial or they will mutate. That now good." As he said this his henchmen loaded their water guns with the strange blue liquid.

"We so coool." One of them said.
"Heck yea!'
"Ready to kick some Vampiwa butt!"

Devin clinged to his doll, snarling at the two as they glared over at him, lifting up his toy double-barreled-shotgun to point at their faces. He swerved his aim in between the two of them, and took a few steps back. He then looked up at Essex.
His eyes were...blank, apathetic, and tired. As if they didn't want to look at things anymore. His entire body, clad in oversized camoflague clothing, looked incredibly worn and beaten and bruised, as well as more than a few cuts in several places. Despite that, he smiled pleasantly at her, lifting up his shotgun to holster it on the back of his camoflague jacket, wiping away the dirt from his muddy face. His voice was quiet and uneven, with a tendency to place accents, inflections, and pauses in odd areas...as if he wasn't quite comfortable with human language. "My name...is Devin, miss...Devin O'Reilly. Are you...the head of this facility? I am under...orders to give you numerous important papers, haaa...hahahahaa...yes." With that, he reached for his doll, up under her skirt, pulling out a file and handing it up to Essex.
"...Haaah...hahaha...haaaahah...yes. Here...here you go."
The file was labelled "Crap you need to know to keep this reject".

Devin smiled awkwardly, snapping his bleeding arm up in a salute, holding his doll by it's arm. "...What are my orders now...Miss...?"

Anna was tempted to find out what was really in Shiro's cup, but then again he was a boy and it was probably already infected with cooties. Then she noticed Devin's entrance.

"Now that...is creepy." She said.

Kaos was somewhat startled. Somewhat.

"Keep them guns up at all times boys. Ya never know what kind of mystical stuff is in that guys head."

"Ah..." Essex said, looking over the papers.

Her brow creased with sympathy, and she crouched down again to regard Devin.

"At ease, soldier." she said softly. "Now if you're going to be staying here...You can't go around biting people, all right? If someone makes trouble for you, come and find me. I'm Essex, and I'll be taking care of you."

Standing, she offered the small boy a hand. "Now let's get you cleaned up. Everyone's just sitting down to lunch. Would you like a sandwich...?"

Rosalind was watching from under the table, her luminescent nocturnal eyes flickering slightly.

She tugged Ghoul's shoe from under the table.

"That guy's carrying a doll." she whispered in disbelief.

Devin frowned at her instructions. No biting? Then how was he supposed to defend himself, or his sister? He momentarily paused to think--he still had his shotgun. And he still had his hands and his feet. If all else failed...he could rend their skin from their body quite easily, if they dared to attack him. His hand lifted up to his cheek, his fingernail digging into his flesh through the caked mud and the bruises to check and see if it was still sharp. The stab of pain and the dripping of fresh blood across his chin ensured that it was.
Good. His grip on the doll loosened, though his fingers were still locked tightly around her waist.
He smiled, nodding. "Yes, Miss...Essex. I understand..." At her offer of sandwiches, he grinned widely, his teeth still stained with Virelai's blood, and perhaps someone else's. "...Haaa...hahaha...haa...do you have...haaa...any meat in them? I'm...very, very fond of...meat...haaahaha..."

"All right then." Essex said with a smile, leading him towards the bathroom.

She set Devin up on a little chair, and began cleaning the mud and blood from his face with another washcloth, shaking her head. "How in the world did you get this messy?" she mused. "Oh well." Essex pulsed nanites around Devin, healing his wounds, and placed a little colorful band-aid on his cheek with flying toasters on it.

Reaching up into a cabinet, she got out a new toothbrush, and held it out to him. "You might want to brush your teeth." she said with a smile. "If you don't take care of them, they won't stay strong, you know."

Virelai was sitting down in the bathroom, still holding the washcloth to her bruise, having waited for Essex to return. She eyed Devin warily, scooting backward on the floor against the wall, trying to put as much distance between her and him as possible. She then sniffled again at the pain, lifting up an arm and wiping away her eyes.

Devin looked up at Essex, putting the doll on top of the counter, though still close to him so he could grab it at a moment's notice. "...How? Haaa...hahaha...haaahhaha...that's really...easy to tell. My daddy was mad at me. So he pushed me...and then continued to push me. Pushed me into mud, pushed me...into thorn plants, pushed me into machines...pushed me...down stairs...haaa...hahaha... Then he started pushing...other people. Haaahaha...hah...others. One person...didn't get back up, after daddy pushed him onto a street, in front of a vehicle. I got sick...of his pushing. He needed to stop hurting people. I wasn't...enough for his pushing, so he wanted to move onto pushing other people. I...couldn't let him. So I...cut him. Hahaha...haaahaha...I cut him...deep...in the chest. Then he hit me. And I hit him back...then he kept on hitting me. Then I fell asleep...and I woke up with a file, Daddy sleeping as well, and papers tied around my neck, telling me what to do. To find you."
He took the toothbrush with a smile, his eyes glazed lazily, and wet it, putting some toothpaste onto it and starting to brush his teeth happily, humming 'Ring around the Rosie' as he stared into the mirror, watching himself clean his teeth. He paused momentarily, tilting his head to the side to look at Virelai, arching an eyebrow at her fearful gaze at him.
"...Haha...haaa...what's...haah...wrong with her? Is she...sick?"

((Sorry for my absence, College is a cruel Mistress.))
Feliks followed behind everyone else in for lunch. He removed a sandwich from the tray. Looking both ways, he quickly removed the scarf from his face and turned his back to everyone. Nearly choking twice, he finished the sandwich in record time. He rearrranged the scarf and sat quietly at the table.
